Living in the cave was an amazing experience, with daily room service and a delightful breakfast featuring local products. The owner, Andrea, goes above and beyond to assist us with various information, such as recommending restaurants, cafes, and tours, ensuring our trip becomes truly unforgettable for my friend and me.

To avoid the direct light from the outside lighting pole at night, I have to switch to the other side of the bed. Regrettably, we won't be able to experience the Spa, which is scheduled to be ready in the upcoming spring.

We loved our modern suite room - the large comfortable bed takes centre stage with a luxury shower room behind. The views from our very own personal balcony set us straight into a James Bond movie! We loved it! The friendly staff were extremely helpful and welcoming - even providing us with a short list of the best restaurants and aperitivo bars ... invaluable as there are so many to pick from!

We confidently walked all the way from the bus station following Google Maps - about half an hour (mostly uphill!). Once you reach the old town the cobbles & steps make it 'challenging' dragging wheelie cases! Trust Google Maps and you do get there ...well you do require to do a bit of detective work! You eventually spot the Endea logo on a wall down a lane - the reception room is also difficult to find as there is no signage !

Located right in the heart of Sassi di Matera, the location could not have been better. Nor could the staff have been any friendlier or more helpful - they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and had everything we needed to know for our stay, including loads of info on places to eat, drink and visit. Andrea was always on hand on WhatsApp if we needed information. All four staff we met were warm, kind and friendly. We absolutely loved the hotel room. It felt very special to be staying in one of the iconic caves, but it has been modernised so beautifully. The room was huge, bright and airy, with all mod cons. We loved the huge walk-in shower behind the bed - a cool use of the space, and the fact that they had used the natural curves of the original cave walls to such great effect. The minibar was really reasonable, only charging €1 for water. The breakfast deserves a special shout-out. Served on the terrace at the front of reception, with a fabulous view of the Sassi, each day we were brought a tiered cake stand filled with fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries and cakes, and either little sandwiches, or cheese, meats and bruschetta. Absolutely delicious and very generous - we never managed to eat it all. We also like having a little table and chairs out the front to sit in the evening and enjoy the view.

The lack of a door on the toilet is the only thing worth mentioning. And this is obviously because it's working with the original structure of the cave. And to be fair - the natural layout does create privacy as it's tucked away behind a curve in the cave wall. A very small thing and if it's a case of ruining the inner cave structure by adding a door, I could live without the door :)

First time to Matera, stunning location, full of ancient history, very steep hillside town, with a maze of hundreds of tiny cobbled streets. Endea Suites is down one of these steep cobbled areas, very central. We loved the location. The reception from the welcoming staff and throughout our stay was simply incredible, such warm and friendly people (Corrine, Constanti and another lovely young lady who unfortunately we did not get her name). The reception area and our room were incredible, literally built into the rock face. That may sound cold, dark and damp but far from it, room was light, modern, spacious and very well equipped.

We didn’t want to leave, wish we were staying here longer but, carrying our suitcase up the steps upon our departure was not great but worth it to be in such a characterful location.

Where to begin? Constant communication from the start. We didn't know there was no train from where we were in Altamura on St. Stephens Day, Dec. 26th. Some kind Italian man told us where a bus stop was and took us there. Although we had to wait 2 hours for it, we were in constant communication with our Endea Host Andrea. He would keep track of our journey and pick us up when the bus arrived at Matera Centrale. That's service! And because of that we didn't have to struggle with our carryon size rollerbags down and up the ancient steps of Matera to get to the BnB. But if we had to, Endea's location in the Sassi was not far in, and the directions he has on a you tube video on line are fantastic. The room was modern and cozy and had an unbelievable view of the Sassi. Bed comfy, shower hot. We took advantage of the SPA and booked private time in there for 70 minutes for 30Euro each. Romantic lighting, robes, lemon water, cookies, fruit bowl, huge colorfully lit jacuzzi, sauna, and a multi-head jetted shower you could have a party in. We could've spent another 70 minutes in there since it was freezing outside and this was the perfect cure for the cold weather. The breakfast! Corinne was friendly and fantastic as the breakfast hostess and the three tiered dish of delicious Italian treats was clearly explained every morning. It was such a nice way to begin the day and stay fueled for a few hours. We took advantage of the recommended list of restaurants and were not disappointed with Il Pico and the antipasto platter. I had gone to La Lopa a few years before and that was also delicious and traditional to Matera. We were there for the weekend Living Nativity for Christmas which was one of the main reasons we chose Matera at this time of year. Three days turned into four because Matera has alot to see and do, not only in the Sassi but in the historic center as well. Would love to go back next year!

We drink alotta coffee in the morning and a coffee machine in the common area (where there was a hot water pot for tea) would've been nice, but then again Corinne's breakfast included coffee as much as you wanted.

Location! Endea is just off the main streets in Due Sassi, the historic caves. The room was huge, light and airy despite being a cave. Great shower, excellent air conditioning, comfortable bed. Breakfast was quite good, and IMHO the very best restaurant in town is maybe ten yards away. Yes, we'll be back.

Parking is an issue, as it always is in these cute mountain towns. BEFORE you arrive, ask them to send you their street map with the easy route marked. Our room was directly below the terrace of a popular bar, so there was chair scraping noise at 7pm and midnight. Not a big deal for us, as we were out on the town then.

We loved everything about Matera and Endea Suite. The room was meticulously clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. We were lucky to have a balcony at the front. Perfect to sit and look out towards Matera. The breakfast was extensive and the communication easy. A private bar downstairs where I enjoyed the best Aperol Spritz. Close to restaurants and a big tick having stayed three nights in a cave. The highlight though was the staff who were friendly and helpful.

There is nothing to dislike but a warning to wear comfy shoes for lots of walking and stairs. Car parking is also by necessity not close. That's just how it is. We felt however the location of Endea was well placed for accessing our car.

The room was beautiful, quite spacious and comfortable. The hotel is well located. Andrea was helpful with recommendations and reservations. The lady at reception and breakfast was extremely attentive and kind.

We stayed for 2 nights and woke up every morning to some little rocks from the ceiling that had fallen onto our bed… we were told it was normal… but that’s not reassuring at all and it created a lot of dust. The room is humid, air is quite heavy.

Endea Suite was right in Matera, so perfect location, the room was very well set out and it was clean and comfortable with all the amenities that a person required. Set within the rock which was all around it. Breakfast was splendid and the Staff were absolutely fantastic and helped with informing us of what to see and where to go, which were the best routes to see things as Matera is a mountain and to see things you must climb up and down lots and lots of stairs and if you take the wrong route there are even more stairs :), but our stay was fantastic and we are looking forward to coming back again. Matera is a breathing incredible place

Just a note GPS sometimes doesn't work well as it will show you that you are there, but there could be 30m below you or 20m above you :). There is no parking at the facility, but you can find one about 700m away which is not too far, just lots of stairs to walk up or down

It’s not a fake but a real sassi and I really enjoy stay in the cave. The location is perfect, every spot can be reached by walk in 10-13min. The host, Andrea and the lady are the best I’ve ever met. He is very supportable and pleased to help us. You should listen to him regarding anything related to Matera. He arranged the taxi and restaurants and even tour to Alberobello. I’m a demanding guest but he always helps me sincerely. I’ll accomodate here if I visit Matera again.
