I don’t even know where to start - it is almost as if we entered a separate divine and healing dimension, far from the everyday world. - the rooms were marvelous, with everything we needed for comfort, we loved the Japanese-style sitting area in our room with the leg warmer. - we got the softest most comfortable and beautiful Yukata for our stay. - each breakfast and dinner was a culinary experience that made all our senses cry in joy - visual, the taste palettes, the smells, textures and the mood. - Private onsen in the room is such an elevated experience, it was incredible - the staff are excellent, they truly made us feel special - the garden in the territory is beautiful We felt pampered, rested and truly happy - in fact, we didn’t feel this happy for a very long time.
We loved absolutely everything

Our stay at Hakone Suishoen was an unforgettable experience of luxury and relaxation. The in-room couple’s massage and private onsen were absolutely divine, offering ultimate comfort and tranquility. The staff’s impeccable service rivaled even the best 6-star hotel butler experiences—attentive, warm, and professional in every way. The culinary delights were remarkable, particularly the 3-course breakfast, which was a perfect start to each day. Visiting the nearby Hakone Open Air Museum was another highlight, adding a cultural touch to an already magical stay. Hakone Suishoen exceeded our expectations for pampering and indulgence, and we can’t wait to return for another stay in paradise. Highly recommended!
that we had to leave!!

What a beautiful ryokan! Staff met us at our taxi in the driveway, brought us to a table to have tea while they took down our passport info. A gentleman that my daughter said was named Bae, brought us to our comfort twin maisonette and showed us all the amenities, how to use the onsen, etc. He was so lovely. We used the onsen overlooking the trees, maple leaves turning orange. Then to our kaiseki dinner in our yukatas. Dinner was gorgeous, and fun to try so many things we'd never even conceived of. Our server Riko was sweet, funny, and helpful. My wife had the wine and saki pairing and enjoyed that. Slept well and enjoyed a morning onsen. Then off to breakfast, which was also delicious. We wished we had done two nights! Maybe next trip to Japan...

It was a two story unit with the bathroom on the bottom floor which my husband didn’t care for but the space was wonderful. They had the table in the living room with a space to put your feet. The Japanese food for breakfast and dinner was so delicious. The staff was so nice and friendly. They had a car service that picked us up from the nearest train station. The in-room onsen was incredible - and it was big too.
The bathroom was on the bottom floor which was a bit inconvenient. The different trains it took to get up to the ryokan from Tokyo were very scenic and interesting but also quite crowded. It made it a long trip to get to the ryokan. My husband thought the Western style bed was a bit too low to the floor, but it was were super big and comfortable.

Suishoen's location up in the hills of Hakone is idyllic. The hotel complex itself is extremely well-maintained and tranquil, with excellent exterior and interior design. My partner and I frequently remarked to each other throughout our stay that we aspire to live in a home as fine as the room we stayed in. The in-suite onsen was extremely relaxing, and we took advantage of it multiple times in a single-night stay. The provided amenities of the room (clothing, refrigerated beverages, coffee, toiletries) were of very high quality. The couch and beds in the room were very comfortable. The included dinner was without a doubt the best meal we have had in a three-week vacation full of great meals, and the breakfast was excellent as well. Suishoen is conveniently close to the Hakone Open Air Museum, and to bus stops that could take one to the other sites of interest in the beautiful town. We will, without a doubt, return for a longer stay.
We could have booked a longer stay, but that's my fault.

The evening meals, both kaiseki and teppanyaki, were truly outstanding
We needed assistance returning from a trip when we missed the last bus. The staff assured us they would be able to secure a taxi if we were patient, but they did not do so. We had an opportunity to take a bus to a train station which would get us back, so rang the ryokan to check again if they would definitely be able to get us a taxi - they said yes so we let the last bus to the station leave without us! This caused us considerable problems (which we ultimately resolved without the ryokan’s help); we should have been told much sooner that they were unable to help us - and, at this price point, the ryokan needs a relationship with reliable taxi company.

Everything was excellent. Especially the food. All rooms have a private onsen and are quite big compared to the rest of Japan. Almost all of the staff can speak English to a decent level.
Their phone number does not work, so you will have to get creative. We got lucky and managed to get a ride from a cab that worked for a different hotel, by asking the driver for help.

The property is beautiful and set up on the mountain with the sound of a river in the background The rooms are extremely well appointed and we had a hot tub on the second floor And the staff were truly great and attentive Lastly the chef - Morito-San deserves a huge thank you as the dinner was almost certainly one of the best meals ever ! We would absolutely come back here
Candidly there is nothing to be critical of

We liked the private Onsen and our room was a great size as well. The Kaseiki style dinner in the private room was a lovely experience - it was our honeymoon and they gave us a couple of sweet gestures to celebrate which was thoughtful.
There were some hairs we found in our bath upon arrival and a lot of ants around our onsen. We have to be honest the overall experience didn’t feel 5 star.

The staff was incredible. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and it was easy to communicate in English. The room was super lush and we felt incredibly relaxed. The onsen, the high-tech toilet, and the giant bed were some of the highlights. We loved dining in the kimonos that were provided! The meals were exceptional and the restaurant and bar incredible. We felt very taken care of and loved dining in different little rooms for the meals. The wine and sake pairings were also exceptional.
