The guesthouse was very charming and comfortable. I loved the Japanese style room with a futon and tatami mats, and also a yukata to wear. Coming back to the room after a chilly day exploring and being greeted by a fresh pot of hot water to make tea was perfect! The Japanese style bath was also very nice to relax after a long day. Even though it was a shared bathroom, it was well distributed - the toilet was near my room, and I didn’t really feel like I was sharing it with anyone else. I also really liked the location, it was in the quieter part of Hakone - a 10 minute walk to Lake Ashi, 15 minute walk to Hakone Shrine, and near the bus station which is very convenient. The manager was also very attentive and kind, always there to help and to answer any questions.
This is just nitpicking, because what I liked about the location is that it is quiet and calm, but it isn’t really an area to walk around to take a stroll in at night because not many places are open nearby. But as I mentioned already, the bus stop is nearby if needed, and the room in the guesthouse is a nice place to relax in the evenings.

Easily one of the best accomodations we have ever stayed at. The guesthouse is located on the other end of the Hakone loop, which is good if you're looking for some solitude away from the crowd. The guesthouse is at a walking distance from two bus stations - Oshiba on the H line and Kyu kaidoguchi on the the K line, which made it convenient to come from Hakone Yumoto as well as visit Tenzan Onsen. The guesthouse is just a 10 minute walk from Motohakone port from where you can start the Hakone loop by boarding the Cruise ship. The guesthouse itself is clean with traditional rooms. We were provided with Yukatas for our stay which was fascinating to wear. There was a well-equipped kitchen that we could access at all times. The owner is a young impressionable man who goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and answers all your queries promptly.

Clean and spacious area for a single person, lovely host and easy access to a beautiful area. Space for eating and a private onsen and shower are great too. A traditional place to stay, if that what you're looking for - you have to take off your shoes at the entrance and a one size Yukata is provided which feels comfortable (I'm a medium standing at 178cm). Smoking area outside the front door if that's what you need. The futon provided is great as well, if you like sleeping on hard surfaces - but there is extra cushions if it's too hard. I never used them, but it's great they're provided.
If you walk everywhere, the easiest way to get from the lake area to the hotel is via a mountain road with cars and a small area for pedestrians. Be vigilant when travelling this road especially at night. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, probably doing bother - this hotel was designed for you to be out and about.

The location is literally steps from a major bus stop (Oshiba), so that really couldn't be better for those who aren't into staying at or near one of the busier areas. It's a guest house, so it's in that kind of hostel style, though it does have individual rooms. Ours was a good size for two people, and the place is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The host was incredible for communication and suggestions. Very helpful, and very conscientious about explaining everything from the common kitchen and bathroom areas, to how to use the air conditioning controller. Really personable and nice. The facilities are clean and easy to use, with bathrooms located on each floor. The futons were really comfortable, and the blankets were AMAZING. The provided yukata were good for our plus-sized selves, and also really comfortable. Honestly, this place was the best part of our time in Hakone.
Typically Japanese steep and intense stairs. Honestly, not a single other issue with this place.

Everything! Well located, the kindness of the host, he explained so many things about how to move around and arrive at all the places I wanted to visit. Super kind man! The room was cozy and had everything necessary, (I loved the yukata) and even though the bathrooms were shared, I had one right next to the room that it felt was only used by me. Very clean! Calm place. The pressure of the water in the shower is magnificent! Good place if you are traveling alone!
The futon was a bit hard for my back, so I added a second one on top 😊. Everything else was perfect! Comfy pillow!

Fantastic stay. Really impressed by this place. Very comfortable room with all the little useful things that make a big difference like hooks, hangers, plug point near bed etc. Extremely clean toilets and sink areas which were in top condition, lovely mats etc which again make a big difference. Powerful showers and rooms again in good condition. Really great location to walk and explore the area around lake ashi and base to start hike up mount hakone. Shops, cafes just 10 minute walk down the road. And really useful selling point being the bus stop going to/from gotemba and odwara stations and around hakone literally on the doorstep. Really impressed all in all. Highly recommend.

I liked this accommodation very much, from the traditional style bedroom with tatami floor and futon mattress to the kimono available for guest. A traditional experience for a relative cheap price. The host is very kind and attentive.
Quite off the beaten track if you're looking for nightlife. Getting there with pubblic transport takes a while and a little walk uphill is required, although nothing difficult.

The host is one of the most generous, kind and nice people we met in Japan! The accommodations are clean, the kitchen is well equipped, and there is a washer for 300yen and a free dryer machine.
The stairs are very high (each step), so it's a little difficult to go barefoot, but this is it.

Wonderful accommodation! Super nice and friendly host, lovely (traditional style) room - really comfortable! 1min. from a bus stop, but you can also walk down to the lake (~20min.) We'd stay there again for sure.

Extremely kind, gracious and friendly host.
A little bit cramped as guest houses usually are - but this is being very nitpicky!
