the whole place only has 5 rooms, with 2 showers and a womens and mens toilet. ( that could have been an issue is it was fully booked while I was there. ) The kitchen is also a squeeze, but I am always happy to cook in a place that has a real stove/micro/toaster oven/rice cooker/lots of dishes/freezer ( plus my room had its own little refer ). The bus stop is one block away, and the visitors center/museum ( don't miss! ) is next door. Ferry port across the street. Great a/c, but can slide the window and have screened view of the rain, too, for a change. Love the western heighth bed and little table and lounge type seating area. Fabulous grocery store one block away.

- The location is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the ferry port at Miyanoura. It’s also really close to the Yakushima Museum, which I definitely recommend checking out. - The WiFi was surprisingly fast and reliable - My room was a good size and came with a comfy futon and air conditioning - There are two showers, so even with other guests staying there, I didn’t have to wait long to use them. - The owner was amazing! They spoke excellent English and took the time to explain everything in detail, which was super helpful. - For how affordable it was, the quality really exceeded my expectations.

- It’s a share house, so your experience can depend a lot on who the other guests are. If they’re noisy or not very considerate, it might take away from the experience. - The bathroom was a bit cramped—not a big deal, but worth mentioning. - There’s no hot water in the bathroom sink, only in the kitchen, so brushing your teeth can feel a little awkward.

The location's pretty great, close to Miyanoura Port, if you're arriving by ferry. It's a bit of a trek from the airport though, but not a problem if you have a rental car (which you really should if you're visiting Yakushima). It's within walking distance to a bunch of good restaurants, and the owners are really nice and friendly. There is also an adorable cat named Moro that lives on the premises and demands head scratches.

This isn't really the owner's fault, but the reception desk is only manned for check-in during specific hours during the day. There is a sign posted that requests that you call the owner if you arrive outside of these hours, but this is a problem if you're not travelling with a functional roaming cell phone. I got help from another guest that had Japanese cell service, but do keep this in mind when arriving. Again this isn't really the owner's fault, this is a great place to stay and is highly recommended!!

So close to the Miyanoura ferry port and the supermarket! So convenient. It is also close to the bus stop that takes you around the island. The room was spacious and with tatami mats! We had futons which were very soft. The room had a small table and a mini fridge, el keddle and hair dryer! Towels and slippers were provided! It was easy to do your laundry and a kitchen were available for cooking! Staff were very friendly and helpful and Moro-chan (the cat) was so cute! Daily energy booster. Definitely recommend staying here especially if you don't plan to rent a car! You have access to everything within walking or bus distance

The location is perfect to drop off your bags from the ferry and start exploring withon minutes off arriving. Its the closest guesthouse to the big ferry from Kagoshima. Its also the lowest price guest house I found. Its an old japanese style guesthouse so dont be suprised that there is no actual bed or a couch/chair in the room. But I actually found it quite comfortable to sleep on the thin matress on the nice floor and had a great sleep.

I can absolutely recommend this accommodation. The host was wonderfully kind and helpful. She even let me check in early, and took her time to explain all kinds of things and offer local fruits for free. She also exchanged my sheets after only two days of use. The room was big and comfortable especially for its good price, and the bathroom and kitchen had everything needed. There were fresh towels for every day and it was even okay to use the washing machine for free (no coins needed). After hiking for many hours, it was nice to sleep on a futon under a heavy blanket. It was convenient to be able to walk to the ferry port, a supermarket and the bus station in less than 10 minutes. Very convenient and lovely place.

This is not the host's fault, but just be aware that the walls of Japanese houses are quite thin and you might hear noises from the corridor or the room next to you. Normal noise from the corridor is no issue at all, but during my last night, I had a neighbor who was extremely loud. Not a big issue for me, but the WIFI broke off frequently. Maybe a check is needed.

I slept very well here, it was calm and the room was nice and clean. There were extra things like drip coffee bags in the room, which I really appreciated. The location was great as it was next to the ferry, bus stop, supermarket, and tourist information, where I got the island maps, bus schedules etc. The staff was really friendly and helpful. All in all, it was great value for the price. I hope I can return one day!

The place was super cute, neat, and fresh fruits (oranges and grapefruits) from the island were provided daily so we could make our own juices. Also, a big thank you for the wonderful staff. There was a storm when I stayed, and they informed me that the ferries wouldn't be ruining because of it, drove me to the airport in time so I could get the only flight available, and stayed with me until I had my ticket in hands and the plane was indeed leaving. They also helped me run some errands and navigate the different bus system very kindly :)

Nice location just outside the port, easy acess to bus stops and supermarkets which you can buy food and cook. All facilities though not new are enough for use. Good maintenance of the bathroom and the public places. AC in the room is nice, cozy bed after a day hiking. Love the place!

Great location, just next to the port, only a 5 minute walk from the nearest bus stop. The room was nice, you have to get used to sleeping on a futon, but otherwise fine.

The hall and public spaces were very humid because of everybody drying off their wet clothes.
