Simple, spacious and clean accommodation. It's like crashing at a friend's, as the place is decorated to the host's taste and the opposite of impersonal. Friendly hosts. Very quiet. We stayed in the older part of the guesthouse and had two WC and two showers at our disposal (on the other hand we had no door separating us from the entrance, shared with the owner but no big issue, really, as they are super quiet).

There are no kitchen facilities, only a microwave, a fridge and some dishware and cutlery. No washing basin nor stove. One of the bedrooms has no opening on the outside, but does get light and air from an opening on the living room.

Stay Nikko Guesthouse is amazing. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful, explaining clearly how everything works and even took time to help us plan where to visit. The amenities we great and modern and very clean, and included a microwave and washer dryer. They even wash your dishes when you are out exploring! The beds were traditional futon very very comfortable and the neighbourhood is quiet giving us a perfect night's rest. The Guesthouse is situated along the river which is great for a morning walk and the Tobu Nikko station is close enough not to need a tax (10 mins walk)i but far enough to be away from the crowds. The perfect getaway. Thank you for being so welcoming.

We love this cozy authentic Japanese House (the questhouse part). Very comfortable, super clean, modern facilities, with attention to detail that made us feel homey. The area is quiet with beautiful view of the river in front, but very close to the main area (train station, cafes, family mart). Kenji-san the owner very friendly and helpful. Gave us map & explaining recommended area, transportation and recommended place to eat. He also allowed us to keep our luggage after check out time. Arigatogozaimasu Kenji-san🙏🏼

Just need a little table near the microwave to put our food & plates/dishes when preparing it for microwave.

The host absolutely made our trip to Nikko. They were super accommodating with our requests, and immediately made us feel welcome. They provided very helpful suggestions for our itinerary, and sat down with us to talk us through it. The guesthouse is beautiful, clean, modern and comfortable. We were only two, but it can easily accommodate a family of 4 (possibly more). Location is absolutely unbeatable, with views to the river.

Everything was perfect. While it is true that the guesthouse does not have a kitchen stove, it is also true that it is located walking distance from a 24hr convenience store. It is also equiped with all other kitchen appliances needed to warm up your food.

Stay Nikko Guesthouse exceeded my expectations. 1) Space-wise, the combined space (of 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms (with a Japanese-style bathtub)/Living & Dining area/pantry/laundry area) was far more than enough for 5-6 people, let alone the three of us who actually were there. I also love the cat-theme decor and cute furniture/amenities:) 2) The owner was very warm and one of the most helpful I've encountered. Not only did she take the time to help us with our series of questions (when our check-in was already past 9.30PM), but she also helped drive us to the train station. Her recommendation really made a difference to our trip...we would have tried to lug our large suitcases from Nikko to Tokyo (thinking that it was only a train ride away) if not for her advice to pre-send them to our Tokyo hotel. Thank you once again! (...also for recommending the pudding and other delicious local treats!)

Ken was an amazing host (as all who have mentioned him before have said). Our family of 7 needed two different rooms at his place. One was inside the main house on the ground floor with separate living and futon rooms, and the other was across the way and included a downstairs and upstairs loft area. Ken and his wife were super helpful and offered us a tour, a map with restaurants marked out, information about the bus schedule, and even did some laundry for us. The space was super adorable and very clean and fresh smelling, and we really enjoyed our stay. It was a short walk to the buses and many adventures in the Nikko area. Ken even gave us a ride (2 trips for our group) to the train station the morning we left. Thanks for an amazing stay! We really loved our time in Nikko.

Great hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. Spotless house, quiet location, beautiful touches to make it feel homely, an awesome bath that stays hot and fills automatically- the best bath I have ever had! Hosts had information including timetables for buses, shows at edo wonderland at their finger tips. Walking distance - 5mins to bus stop and only 10mins tops to train station. Host also took us to the train station in their private car - very friendly, polite and helpful. Loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

Our entire time at Stay Nikko was fantastic! To start with, we messaged the hosts on our way in from Tokyo just to let them know that we would be arriving a little later in the evening (around 8pm). When we arrived at the train station the host was there waiting to meet us. He took all five of us and our luggage directly to the property, which was helpful as we had several pieces of luggage. The hosts also gave us a great overview of things to do in Nikko after we arrived, including taking us through different maps and recommending different hiking trails. Throughout our trip they were always available to help with recommendations or answers to any questions that we had about the area. The units themselves were well taken care of and quite clean. The hosts even did a load of laundry for us on our second day (also quite helpful as we were spending several days in Japan with a stop in Nikko in the middle of our trip). Everything was perfectly quiet and relaxing throughout our entire stay. There are also plenty of places to go out for dinner that are within a 10 minute walk from the house. It was very clear to us that the hosts took a great deal of pride in making sure that their guests felt welcomed and enjoyed their time in Nikko. We would highly recommend Stay Nikko for anyone that will be traveling to NIkko.

The host was incredibly kind, upbeat, and patient. Immediately upon our late check-in in our host, kindly helped us move our bags. Then, he proceeded to give us a lovely tour of the accommodations and a map of Nikko with tons of helpful tips and suggestions! The accommodations themselves were clean, neat, and clearly documented how to use them in several languages. Upon checkout, our host went above and beyond and helped us move our bags once again. We were incredibly delighted staying here as it had everything we needed, and our host was amazing.

The location is perfect for walking to the UNESCO cultural heritage sights, both train stations and buses to the mountain hiking trails. Central, yet perfectly quiet, in a residential area. To our surprise, we had a whole small house to ourselves, on the window sides surrounded by lush green shrubs and a Japanese garden. It was equipped with kitchenette and had a choice between western bed and Japanese futon bed. We took the latter, which was very comfortable. Our friendly host took exceptional care of us, giving us exactly the information we needed on the first evening for walking, eating out and sightseeing, including up-to-date bus schedules and other useful information such as opening times. On the day of departure he even drove us to the train station with our luggage. The stay was an outstandingly good experience.
