Suitable for travelers looking for a ryokan-style accommodation near Jigokudani, offering a peaceful, beautiful, and clean environment with delicious food and excellent service. This place is perfect for an exceptional new experience. 1. I received excellent service and a wonderful experience from the hotel staff. Most of the staff can communicate well in English and are great service-minded. 2. The rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet—ideal for travelers seeking privacy. Onsen is clean and beautiful, allowing guests to soak while watching the changing autumn leaves. 3. Private kaiseki meals are meticulously prepared with premium ingredients and are very delicious, with hotel staff providing guidance throughout the dining experience. 4. Breakfast is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and guests can enjoy the view of autumn leaves while dining. 5. The accommodation offers a public onsen, yukata, and a souvenir shop, providing a comfortable and convenient stay.

Location is good. Great starting point for a nice hike up the road to the trail start so you can visit the hot spring lake and also the Hell Valley" on the way back down and in to the village of Noboribetsu. Dining was superb for both breakfast and dinner. Each evening meal is in a small private room and the food was very varied and fabulous.

The private hot tub on the balcony had too much sediment on the bottom and sides. The sediment from the hot spring sources is supposed to be good for the body and skin but the amount that accumulates in the private tub is far too much and should be removed from time to time. The public baths are very nice and the water is relatively sediment free.

Unexpected high standard! We booked a hotel room and two meals. First, we had a private room for dinner. The decoration and design of the meal felt on par with Michelin level. Second, there was a set menu + Japanese buffet to choose from for breakfast. We ate a lot of homemade seafood rice bowls that looked very fresh, which were both delicious and fun. The room has a private semi-open-air bath, which is very nice. I was very satisfied and liked this hotel. I will try to go back when I go to Noboribetsu in the future.

Although the hotel staff's English is not very good, their service is good. As for the hotel, it feels a little old, so there were water marks or tea stains in the room and on the paper on the door.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous venue with superb and friendly staff. We stayed for two nights and the meals were different each time for both breakfast and dinner. The entrance is really pretty and they seem to have change the flowers every day. We were there right before new years eve and they decorated the front desk to celebrate it. The private onsen is nice, and I think it was plenty hot unlike older reviews. Whenever we have dinner, they would go into the bedrooms to set up the futons. Again, the staff are incredibly amazing and a pleasure to converse with.

The price. While everything is nice, I still think the price is too high. The public onsen facility does not have an ice bath and is relatively normal sized when compared to sentos of budget hotels. The only difference from what I can tell is that the water is natural, so is cloudy and sulfur smelling. But otherwise, it isn’t anything to write home about. The food was good, but by the end my partner and I were starting to get tired of the sashimi which was frequently used and highlighted.

Good location, quick walk to anything in Noboribetsu Onsen. The hotel itself is older but the cleanliness and staff make up for it. The kaiseki meal offers a nice variety and the three Onsen were relaxing with long open hours and a lot of care products available to you.

You can tell the age with some aspects like the guest room doors and the elevator (everything was clean and in good condition, but you do notice). I also wish they had a cold pool or a standard temp swimming pool in the bath to help regulate your temperature. There are complimentary drinks outside but they do run out and aren’t stocked frequently. Also wish there was an option to enjoy dinner in the room, but I do understand as a lot of elements of the dinner involve fire.

The meals are prepared with super high-quality ingredients, and had a variety of seafood including very rare ones like fugu. Breakfast was awesome! It involves a set and a small buffet. The buffet had both Japanese and continental breakfast variations. It was very quiet and peaceful everywhere in the hotel, unlike other onsen ryokan I stayed which can be crowded sometimes. The onsen was absolutely awesome! The public onsen has very nice amenities and are well-maintained.

It would be even nicer if they have more seafood options (more fish sashimi) for kaisen-don buffet section.

Ryotei Hanayura was a great way to experience the beauty of Hokkaido in the Winter. The property is just a short walk from Noboribetsu Station and an even shorter walk to the entrance of the “Hell Valley.” We opted for a Japanese style room with a private outdoor bath on our balcony since my husband has tattoos. This alone was worth it and made the experience. A hot bath in the crisp winter air set against the Hokkaido snow. Our stay included a kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast which just rounded out the experience. Of course Western travelers may not be used to sleeping on futon and Japanese meals, but quite frankly “when in Rome.” My personal pet peeve is travelers who go to another country and expect to cherry pick what cultural elements they want to experience and those they don’t.

Nothing to critique, our stay was great.

The dinner and breakfast was really lovely. Really delicious. A really great experience. However the staff's English were kinda limited so there were times when we were confused when they tried to explain how to eat something, etc. But it's no big issue. We booked the room with private onsen, it was a great idea because when we went to check out the public onsen area after dinner, we saw that there were a lot of people at least at the shower/locker area so we didn't get down to the onsen.

I was a bit disappointed with the hair dryer. It was really old so it didn't turn completely on and it had really low wattage so it took forever to dry my long hair. Worse because we're 3 sisters sharing a room, we were queuing to use the hair dryer.

The dinner experience was amazing. Beautiful food with light and delicate flavours. The outdoor onsen was amazing, quite glad we entered later where there were not many other people.

Onsen facilities did not have a sauna. They did not have a complementary ice cream service that other hotels offer, there was a gift shop that sold drinks and icecream. The venue was slightly further away from the main street when going for a stroll.

Excellent hospitality and service - laid out our futon bed while we were at dinner. Public onsen was big and spacious as well. Great location near to the shopping street. Dinner and breakfast had excellent variety. Attention to detail with small surprises in the room (food and drinks).

Slightly older facilities so some areas more run-down which is not unexpected. Would have been great if there were more charging ports.
