Lovely and helpful staff. Most spoke/understood a little English, however one person on staff was very good and was very kind to help us. Location was perfect in the middle of noboribetsu onsdn with walking distance to Jigokudani. Food was classic multicourse ryokan menu, mainly different fish. Our room was spacious and comfortable enough. Onsen was great with possibility to rent 50 min in private onsen. Both the public and private onsen had indoor and outdoor onsen, so perfect in the snowy weather.

It would have been to have a menu or little introduction to the meals. It tasted wonderful, but we had to guess what we eating some of the time. Price to expected for location.

Overall pleasant stay. Near to Main Street. Easy access to bus terminal. Dinner was good . Room deco is traditional but reasonable clean.

Give extra time if plan to check out early. The doors are locked in early morning.

Food was excellent, and the location, a short walk from Jigoku-dani and a block from the bus station, couldn’t be better. Perfect if you want an old-fashioned atmosphere to enjoy in peace and quiet. Breakfast and dinner both give great variety, and breakfast is enough that you probably won’t need lunch (especially if you choose an early dinner time). Water in the onsen feels amazing, but be prepared to see discolored tiles from all the sulfur and other minerals in the water.

WiFi isn’t great. Onsen baths are small, but I never felt cramped. Not a resort, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Location within walk distance from Onsen bus terminal and near to shops and Hell Valley. Nice layout, well decorated and spacious room (for 3 pax) with partition for different areas and has separate basin, toilet and shower areas. Guests were asked to choose timing for having the meals at the restaurant. Great dinner and breakfast set meal, delicious and nice presentation. These were the best meals we had in Hokkaido. Guest's shoes are stored in pigeonholes near the entrance of hotel and slippers were provided for guest to wear inside the hotel. At restaurants, pegs with number were provided for guest to clip to their respective slippers. When our slippers were taken by other guests, the staff provided us with another set of slippers. Great service provided by the restaurant staff as well. As this is the first time we stayed in a rokyan, it was overall a great experience.

The indoor and outdoor onsen is on a smaller scale. Fortunately, no one was using the onsen when we visited after dinner.

Although the rooms are quite small especially for a group of 4 we enjoyed our ryokan experience. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were our favourite meals and culinary experience in Japan. It was great we got to wear our own Yukata's and walk around town.

We booked our own private time with the onsen but the options were 11pm or 7am but there were no signs up saying it was our private time so had other people come in. Would not bother paying extra for the private time. The aircon in the room would not go below 20 degrees and even at 20 degrees it was still quite warm and stuffy.

We like how the staff were very nice and was able to speak in English to explain everything we needed to know. The staff also noticed that the snow from the roof was falling on our vehicle and he assisted us by driving our car to another one of their parking slot. We also enjoyed the private onsen (which is a separate charge) which is great as it has an indoor and outdoor onsen with spring water. The food they served was very delicious and the dinning experience felt like it was fine dining. In my view, the place looks a lot more beautiful and amazing than the pictures! Was pleasantly surprised how well decorated it was,

Nothing!

Very helpful staff (even though most of them cannot speak English, you know that they all try to help.) Was impressed with the service - the staff's providing hot face towel and hot tea upon your arrival - they understand that you are exhausted and need to rest and relax a bit. The hotel provides private onsen - helpful for those guests who are not comfortable in enjoying hot spring in public but ok with just a few friends. The breakfast and dinner are delicious and very well presented - you know that the staff who work in the dining area really put in the effort to make it perfect. It's a small and friendly hotel that is run by a team of staff (like a small family) who strives to make your stay enjoyable.

The restroom is fine in general but it needs updating a bit.

Onsen was small but sufficed for a ryokan of its size in my opinion. Dinner was great. Location is fantastic as it's a short walk from the bus terminal and to the Jigoku Hell Valley.

I stayed here back in 2019 and remember the experience to be pretty good hence rebooked it again. Dinner and breakfast food service was fast and pretty decent for it's price point. Staff are courteous and friendly and facilities are generally clean.

This Ryokan feels a little dated now in 2023. Rooms feel a little old, and there was no tea provided in my room. I booked for a private onsen this round and found it to be so small and unimpressive. The onsen water was very milky and the sulphur smell was a little strong (may not be the fault of the ryokan but the source of the water instead) but we couldn't soak for more than a few minutes due to the bad smell. It was also no warm enough.

I love thé inviting hospitality upon arrival. The meal time is genius with 3 options for main dish allows a sense of playfulness with our food if we are staying more than one night. Also, every night the chef comes up with something different, which adds to the overall experience of staying here for more than 1 night. I love thé Onsen here but didn’t try other hotels to compare who’s the best but I’d say this is super great in terms of Onsen quality.

Wifi too slow.
