Loved the private Onsen, The staff were very helpful and very friendly We had a wonderful relaxing stay The food was absolutely delicious

The photos of the rooms were a little deceiving, The building is a slightly run down and in need of some repair.

Stayed for two nights. Our room had two outdoor onsens which was well maintained and clean. Room is a little dated but still clean. As we had a half board package, daily breakfast and dinner were included. Food was superb with a hearty Japanese breakfast and dinner was shabu shabu on the first night and bbq on the second. Service was top notched. We had a nice Nepalese lady looking after us. We had a private room for all our meals and were very well looked after. Lastly, the staff took our photo and printed it out for us for keepsake upon check out. Nice gesture. I had an extra photo taken with the owner's little brown poodle Hazel. :)

Location was a bit far from the town center. But as we had a car, it was ok for us to get in and out. Else it would be quite a long walk.

Room was huge and we loved the outdoor onsen with such a beautiful view. Breakfast and dinner provided was extensive and delicious. We had 1 less futon bed than we booked and then owner herself came and set it up for us. Her service was excellent. At the end of our stay, they took a photo of our traveling party in front of the entrance and printed them out for us as a memento. That’s was a nice touch.

I informed the female staff who showed us our room that a futon bed was missing and she said we have to pay extra. I showed her we booked for 4 and she said she will check it out but didn’t get back to us at all. I had to ask the very efficient male staff after dinner and he promptly came with the owner to set it up.

I will assume this is Ryokan and we didnt know what to expect. The room was nice and the 2 onsens pools were the highlight with the view. Food was visually stunning and every meal an experience (some better than others). Staff amazing. For a true Japanese family cultural experience this is it

Not a negative as some people will come here for the Japanese cultural experience. No western seats other than outside so floor or bed. The futon was hard so needed to add layers to soften. You are a bit out of town but is not an issue either a car.

Everything was perfect. The surroundings, the staff, the lovely view from my room. Not to mention the superb food; I am not shy about how much I eat and I was also left feeling very satisfied and full. There was a real variety of dishes: seafood, bashimi, wagyu, etc., and the sake choices were excellent. I’ll add that I was unexpectedly ill during my stay (recurrent respiratory problems) and staff went out of their way to help me). I absolutely loved this stay and everything about it. I can’t wait to come back.

Nothing!

Simply amazing. I don't think I ever was this thrilled to stay anywhere. - Villa with a private onsen with great views over Yufuin. - Water in the onsen makes your skin silky. It's hard to describe, but it is the most pleasant feeling. - Great dinner experience. Prime Yufuin-raised marbled beef just melts on the tongue. AMAZING staff! They made me feel like I am at my second home rather than staying in a hotel. And they are so helpful! My partner was having a birthday, and I asked them last minute if they could take care of buying some flowers and decorating the garden/onsen with sakura tree branches. (Of course for an additional price). They did it discretely while we were away exploring Yufuin, and just transformed the place. It was a magical experience. Never before have I been so grateful to resort staff.

Our stay at the ryokan was phenomenal and exceeded our expectations even though we were already prepared to enjoy it. We loved everything. Before arriving at the train station, I had sent an email asking for a pick-up, and the ryokan sent a car to pick us up on time. We stayed in a standard suite, which felt extremely comfortable and spacious and still had 3 hot baths by itself - 1 inside and 2 open-air ones. It was also possible to use the large "public" onsen but privately (there was a button to turn on a light outside and indicate that the onsen was in use). The view from there was lovely. Breakfast was at 8h30am while dinner varied between 18h30 and 18h00 for us, and the staff provided phone calls to our room before either meals. The kaiseki meals were truly delicious, so varied and so copious. The staff was always attentive and doing their best to accommodate, and the environment of the ryokan itself was quiet and soothing, full of beautiful greenery. The water's temperature for the room's onsens was perfect for us. The wi-fi functioned perfectly. We could not ask for more and would love to come back.

The hotel description said that dinner was at 18h00 or 19h00, but in our case, we could not decide the time. The dinner time was fixed on the day itself and communicated to us at breakfast. This is not criticism, however. We thought it was probably for the better organization of the hotel to have one dinner time for everyone, but it's handy information to have for travellers.

This hotel is located in a beautiful location, overlooking the Yufuin mountains. The room and private onsens were very clean, and the staff was wonderful and kind. They even drove us to the station for our train the morning after our stay. They provided a very high quality dinner with many courses, one of which included wagyu steak which was cooked in front of us. Overall, I highly recommend Waremokou, my partner and I traveled around Kyushu for 10 days and we both agree our single night in Yufuin was the highlight of our trip.

None.

We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel as there was another, accommodation nearer down the hill. However we were guided by that accommodation to drive further up and were greeted warmly by the staff who helped bring our luggage into the ryokan and also drove our car to park on our behalf. Amazing hospitality from the bosses and staff! Some of their staff could speak English and Mandarin so no issues for international tourists staying here. When seeing someone in our group having difficulty walking, they immediately helped to hold them steady during the walk to the room and provided a higher and studier chair than the usual Japanese chair for ease for sitting. Two thumbs up for the attentiveness. Room was great, nice and warm with the aircon working well. Absolutely clean including the two private hot springs in our own room. Would recommend anyone interested in a ryokan experience to come here!
