Location was perfect - next to the City Gate at Valletta, and the bus station. Taxi rank right outside also. Good choice of restaurants about 200m away if you do not choose to eat in the hotel. Unlike other hotels nearby, access to Valletta city is level - no hills to climb. Also, the large private gardens behind the hotel are perfect for relaxing in the sun or reading.

Concierge service was very good, but perhaps unsurprisingly for a 5* hotel, not well informed about Airport buses. The X4 runs about every 30 minutes and costs €1.80 each way. It takes about 20 minutes, about the same time as the taxis and the hotel limo. Not everybody wants to travel in luxury, even to a 5*!

The best hotel we have stayed at in the Mediterranean. From the general manager Robyn, down to hotel services, hospitality, the restaurant staff, pool bar, spa and housekeeping staff, nothing was too much trouble. We went to Malta for our 31st wedding anniversary and picked the hotel purely on previous reviews. They didn't lie. The impression was of everyone at the hotel being committed to excellent customer service. Ideally located within 400 metres of the capital city Valetta, it is quiet with it's own pretty gardens and private pool. There is also an excellent spa and indoor pool. Luxuriously comfortable well appointed rooms (pay a little extra to get a room with a view over Valetta harbour) - they even top up your mini-bar for free each day. The hotel is also convenient for Valetta transport hub (explore Malta by bus - a single journey is 2 euro to anywhere on the island - it's great fun). We had a wonderful time and will definitely be going back.

Beautiful historic hotel, incredibly clean and comfortable. Staff mostly exceptional.Food good. Location excellent.

Pool is 1.5 meters??? Why??? One cannot swim laps easily. Although big, it was more like a dipping pool. I was looking for a hotel with an exceptional pool, chose this hotel but was disappointed in the pool depth. One, only one of the staff we had a disappointing interaction with. A man on the phone yelled at my husband regarding getting our car. We did not realize that cars cannot be requested until the last minute due to outside hotel reduced parking options. I was not there to witness the encounter, but my husband, who is a Doctor, had to tell the particular gentleman to calm down. All other staff were exceptional.

The hotel was first class, wonderful staff and excellent facilities including the spa that we spend hours in. The breakfast and dinner where also first class with a lovely variety to suit everyone. This was our first visit and I plan to go back next December. The location of the hotel and its decor was stunning. We enjoyed every minute we stayed in this fabulous hotel. The staff at reception and on the door including the dining staff could not do enough for us. I have travelled and stayed in some lovely hotels around the world. I would put this hotel as one of my top favourites.

Everything about this beautiful hotel was splendid

Having agreed to carry out hairdressing activities on my partner and visiting friend by phone , we came back from a good day in M-dine by urgent taxi ,we were then told that this was not possible by an exceptionally rude and dismissive lady in the salon who i believe to have been the owner , really offhand considering they had earlier agreed to it

The staff were very accommodating and made us feel comfortable. The location was excellent for exploring Valetta and the rest of Malta. The weather was great, hot and dry.

The room felt a little small and the idea that this is a superior quality room, was a bit of nonsense as I cannot imagine many of the rooms at the hotel being more basic. However, it was well equipped. The food in the hotel restaurants was expensive given the presentation and flavour of what we ate. It did not justify its cost.

Malta is a beautiful island stepped in history. we loved coffee in the lobby in the morning. two of the best concierges I've ever dealt with in Jonathan and Mario. location in relation to the city, a feeling the employees really cared about us. my wife temporarily lost her luggage en route during a transfer in Paris and Jonathan and Mario constantly checked on it until it arrived the next day.

we booked one tour of medina and robot through the hotel and it was a disaster

Lovely place, a paradise with sea views in the center of Valeta, amazing views, beautiful gardens, infinity pool. ……Wonderful restaurants, café bar…….is really like a movie from another time with elegant charm, love for the small details….enormous spaces…like a palace. There is a perfectly new and renovated Spa. Staff with a constant smile, attentive and extremely friendly, all of them, absolutely everyone. A place that exudes positive energy and good vibrations. I would have stayed longer. unforgettable place

the Room a bit old. Needs a redecoration

My daughter and I had a 3 night holiday stay in Valletta and I can’t complain about anything. The room was clean and the view amazing, breakfast was delicious, (you have a choice of ordering Eggs Benedict or having the buffet), the location couldn't have been better (we were so lucky that there was a festival on and the hotel was well placed for everything. The spa treatments were fantastic, (Want to go back there for another massage). Every staff member we came across were courteous, happy and welcoming. The hotel went over and above taking us to the airport at the end of our stay. One of the best hotels both myself and my daughter have ever stayed at, and we have stayed at some lovely hotels. Highly recommend.

The only thing we didn’t like was that we were only staying 3 nights. The hotel is incredibly polished. Oh, I can think of something. I requested, and double checked before we travelled that we had a twin room… when we got to the room we had one bed. I spoke to someone on the floor we were staying and they dealt with it immediately. No fuss, no wait…. All sorted.

Fantastic hotel in grand style, just outside the city walls: close to everything there is to visit in Valletta and a great escape from the crowds within the walls. Classic building with comfortable rooms, excellent pool area, nice spa, nice garden (very exceptional in densely built Valletta), terraces with grand views on the city and harbour. The hotel staff is very competent and friendly and go all the way in helping to sort out things. Excellent breakfast served on the terrace with beautiful sea and city views. The hotel restaurant is definitely one of the best options for dinner in the city.

Some of the lower floor rooms don't have good views, but staff was helpful to resolve that.
