The staff is so kind and helpful. The rooms and pool is always kept clean.
Unfortunately, the rooms do not have a mini fridge and it felt like the hot water was solar powered because in the mornings it wouldn't warm up. The breakfast is from 8:30 to 10. For us that was a bit late specially when we had to.leave early for activities. While the hotels looks close to the lagoon and is physically not far all access across the street from the hotel is blocked by other hotels and you have to pay for a day pass on order to acces the lagoon near by. The day pass is 450mxn pesos. There are some club muuyal charges 200mxn and can be used towards consumption. It is 16 minute walk though. The free access is downtown 30.minutes walk downtown. They do not provide free bikes or rental of them.

The cabana was nice and the breakfast was brilliant! Staff were also really friendly.
It is a little far out from the town centre of Bacalar if you are only on foot but very close to a lot of the boat lagoon experiences.

Very well kept gardens and lovely set up of the cabins. The little room was small but super cozy and tidy. Very clean place and good lighting. The aircon was fantastic and the shower with the a little private garden view was a nice treat. The place is in a main road across the lagoon, very accessible and quiet. Walking distance to Maracuya a public lagoon access and a bit of a long walk to town like 20 minutes. The bed was comfy and because they’re little cabins you don’t hear the neighbours. Breakfast was included and it was delicious, they catered for vegan options with no issues. All the staff was amazing, so helpful and kind. We’re definitely coming back any time!

Lovely individual rooms around a pleasant pool surrounded by tall trees at the quiet end of Bacalar. Great reception staff who helped with laundry and organising trips, and the room was kept spotlessly clean with daily cleans. Good bed, and quality linen and towels.
Not the best coffee at breakfast time

The Zensus hotel is just a dream! The rooms are exactly like the pictures suggest: very clean, comfy, quiet and bright. The whole hotel areas were very very well maintained with beautiful plants and flowers all around. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with coffee, fresh fruits, pancakes, eggs and more. Our biggest thanks and admiration goes to José. He makes you feel like being part of the family and is always ready to answer any questions or give his recommendations. He organised both a boat and a SUP tour for us with a company that not only offered fantastic trips but also fair prices. We also rented the bicycles offered at the hotel which were a great and cute option to go around in Bacalar. We were immensely sad to leave José and his fantastic hotel after only two nights but we are convinced to come back and recommend it to anyone that considers staying in Bacalar. It was the highlight of our Mexico trip!

We just loved EVERYTHING! The accommodation was comfortable, nicely decorated, in a quiet environment. We were warmly welcome by Laura and José Luis who have of great help to us (to organise a boat tour on the laguna, to recommend restaurants....). They both are very friendly as well as the rest of the staff. Every day, the breakfast was freshly made upon demand. We appreciated the fact that there were no more than 10 cabins/accommodation. It preserves the intimacy of the guests and allow them to fully rest and enjoy this beautiful part of Riviera Maya (I literally fell in love with Bacalar). I wish we had stayed longer!
Everything was perfect!

This hotel is an exceptional family run hotel. Each room is its own structure which offers physical and acoustical privacy. The hotel manager and his daughter were extremely helpful in getting me situated and settled in. They offered food recommendations and called taxis for me when I needed it. They even lent me cash on the first day when I needed a taxi but didn't have cash. The hotel manager also double checked that the taxi driver charged me fairly. The room had all the basic necessities and was cleaned daily. They also made sure to refill the bottle of drinking water daily. Breakfast was simple, but homemade and good. I would definitely be staying here again.
Like all buildings in tropical climates, the plumbing fixtures were a bit rusty and needed some further maintenance. But everything I needed fixed was attended to immediately! The location of the hotel is a bit too far to walk to the center of Bacalar but it's also why it was so peaceful and quiet. While Zensus is not on the water, there is a restaurant across the street with lagoon access for a small day fee.

Property manager and staff were super attentive. Helped me with booking excursion to ruins and a very early/dawn cab fare. I had trouble with the ruins booking using tripadvisor/viator since they had 2 ppl minimum excursions which made it limiting to a solo traveler. They looked out for me and told me what fees to expect on cabs/taxi etc... to make sure no one over quoted me. Super honest and sweet. They have a night watchman which made me feel safe. I would stay again!
I really have no cons

We enjoyed our two nights stay here. The cabin was comfortable with a huge bed, and quiet at night. Breakfast was great. The lovely owner makes it to order, and can make eggs pretty much any way you request. Location is quiet and is a 20 minute walk into the centre, but this was fine for us as taxis are cheap, and there are restaurants and bars nearby, as well as beach clubs/departure points for boat trips on the lagoon where you'll spend most of your time.
Feels a little worn in places, but otherwise everything was great.
