It's good value for Tulum. There's off street parking, albeit not secured. The place has some charm, a small pool, a sort of gym, shared spaces, a guest kitchen. There are options for bike or moto hire, restaurant is good value, and some intriguing if expensive options for new age treatments involving amphibians or substances therefrom. A big supermarket is close by. The plumbing works. Nice guests, great staff.

The repurposed shipping container rooms are rather small, and stuffy (early Dec). There's aircon but to change air only a noisy extractor fan or leave door open for the bugs. One or better 2 crossflow screened vents would help a lot. The glass faces don't provide privacy unless curtains are shut. There's lots of shared space, but nowhere rainproof to sit at a laptop on a table or desk - though that's off the vibe, really.

It was in a great location central to everything, and nicely tucked out the way too. The reason for my trip was to do Kambo and Bufo and ceremonies were performed with love and care. I felt very safe, and in particular would like to thank Mario Lynne Esteban, who were the facilitators for these ceremonies. Anyone considering doing any of the above would be in the safest of hands. Big statement, but I will be eternally grateful guidance in facilitating my journey to abundant happiness. I also met some fantastic people who were there for a multitude of reasons and we came together as one to share an experience which only we can understand. Peace and love. The facilities were clean and tidy as were the rooms

Some crazy guy called Tahoe who kinda was meant to work there, but didn’t work there, but kept turning up and making everybody feel uncomfortable, but finally he disappeared in the back of a police truck, but other than that everything was cool.

The property is very unique. It is a calm place where you can really enjoy in peace (well, during the day). The room was nice, wifi was working perfectly.

We didn't like 2 things. First one is the noise during the night- apparently, there are a lot of dogs and cats living around there and their barking through whole night isn't pleasant at all. The second thing we didn't really like was the kitchen, since it wasn't really clean. There are also a lot of mosquitos which are unbearable if you want to have a drink on the terrace.

Bufo Alvarius was my favorite hotel to stay at (thus far in life). The rooms, pool and facilities were gorgeous. The vibe was relaxed and the staff welcoming. We could easily Bike everywhere from its location, which is placed perfectly between Tulum Town and the hotel strip. The other hotel guests were also very respectful and easygoing. We spent days lounging in the pool after exploring town.

If you're worried about high prices in tulum, the attached restaurant had grateful deals and we had breakfast there everyday.

The place is a little paradise, even better than it looks in the pictures. The staff is very friendly. The rooms and the whole setting have the feeling of camping, so be ready for a really small space. Personally I liked that. It is located between the city center and the zona hotelera, car is a plus

The wifi did not work in the rooms, only garden. Some towels and bedshit was stained. Very hard to set the temperature in the bathtub.

Staff superfriendly, very helpful, really nice environment, quiet but fun, very central. Very clean even if shared bathrooms. no one ever tried to sell me their treatments.

only minor improvement points is that bungalows dont have much soundproofing BUT there is not much noise in the retreat anyway.

Great location basically between the Zona Hotelera (Beach) and the Main Street. Make sure to rent a bicycle since taxi drivers will most likely overcharge you. The overall vibe of the property is super laid back and definitely fits the entire Tulúm vibe. Rooms are small, yet, cozy and nicely decorated. The pool area is also super beautiful and it has an outdoor gym and yoga area.

Well yes, it is true. The music from the two restaurants/bars down the street is pretty loud until late at night. Naturally, this gets the street dogs riled up as well… On the flip side, we never heard any screaming or vomiting from Bufo ceremonies 😅

The energy of this place is incredible - true serenity among the hustle of city life. Bufo Alvarius' staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating, and create a safe and inviting space for travelers to enjoy their time within it's walls, as well as within the city. Situated between the beach area and the town center, the location is perfect for anyone looking for a mix of things to do within short distances. With a great cafe on site, and wonderful restaurants next door, one doesn't have to go too far to get a great meal. And for those who like to feel at home while traveling, the shared kitchen space with a full size refrigerator, makes it easy for anyone who wants to cook their own meals. The pool is absolutely beautiful and perfect for a dip anytime of day, as it is shaded by trees to keep cool during the heat of the afternoon, and elegantly lit at night for a refreshing way to end a day of exploring. One may find that they never want to leave, but I humbly ask that you do so there will be space for me to return!

I booked this place for a reason, I was hoping they would offer special ceremony food in their restaurant since they do ceremonies but they don’t, bit disappointing. also it would be good if people who don’t know that this isn’t a “normal” hotel would be informed beforehand because it’s not pleasant for “normal” guests to hear people throwing up or screaming and they don’t know what’s going on. not everyone knows what Bufo is.

I liked the staff, the people, the vibe, the layout, the healing, their mission, the gym, their pet friendliness, the restaurant, the kitchen, the free water, the cleaning, the pool. The sockets in the bathroom.

I didn't like the sewage odor in our room, one of the toilets wouldn't flush properly.
