Restaurant service greatly improved over last visit 5 years ago. Excellent breakfast included with room: Omelette, coffee, toast, potato, fruit, and sausage. Kitchen visibly clean and well organized. chef on duty. Attentive servers. Staff helped with transportation requests, directions, and departure time (2:15 am flight). Encounter a value hotel: an affordable touch of luxury an edge of Thamel: excellent breakfast, supportive staff, and isolation from traffic and noise. Air conditioning worked without a problem. And Yes plenty of hot water in the modern walk in shower. And excellent English communication as well as some opportunity to learn some Nepali words. Reservation advised.

At the reception desk, Bibas and Pramila were terrific and very helpful. Actually, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a pleasant and spacious room. The bed was very comfortable. The location is quiet (essential for a peaceful sleep). The hotel is close to the main attractions of Thamel and the bustling markets. The restaurant food is delicious, and they make the best vegetable/egg thukpas I've had (and I ate it several times during my stay). When I revisit Kathmandu, Hotel Encounter will be my hotel of choice.

There needs to be a lot of improvement with the spa and services offered. There was no heating or hot water available. I requested a two-hour massage but received one hour (and it was very cold in the room). Despite this, the therapist gave a great massage. The pedicure given was not a pedicure - my feet were soaked in cold water - the therapist did not have the proper implements to provide a professional pedicure (or the experience). It lasted for about 15 minutes, with me cutting my toenails and the therapist using only a pumice foot paddle on the soles of my feet - no trimming of cuticles, no foot massage, etc.

We was staying in the middle of december 2023 in room 202 (3d floor). In the beginning, we reserved delux room with city view, but I found that room much more cold and smaller than the opposite side. Thanks guys on reception, that allowed select fit room for us. Our room was warm, sunny, light and big. Hot water in shower, AC with heater, wifi fast, tea pot, 2 bottles of drinking water everyday. Good breakfast from 7 to 10 in the garden. Have safe parking also and spa (we did not use). Location is great. Near tamel but in quite place, you just need cross road. Near have fruit shops and sim card office.

Good location. Had very friendly staff. Morning breakfast satisfying. The overall price was quite reasonable. The bed was warm and soft. The room was clean and inviting. There was lots of free water. It was not too noisy. A hose in the bathroom was very useful. The water for the shower was warm to hot.

At times the toilet had a bad Oder. The aircon could be finicky. The closet could use more hangers. Not all the light switches were working properly. The card for opening the door not always worked 100% of the time.

The outdoor seating area in the center of the space is absolutely stunning with all the greenery. There are also two large covered areas in case of bad weather. The staff who work in the restaurant are absolutely amazing, helpful, and polite,

There's no doorhandle on the inside of my room door to get out so I had to use the sliding locks to grab to open the door . One is up high and one is down very low. I found this a little strange as I've never seen a door without a door handle on the Inside of a room.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel! The breakfast was fantastic with plenty of options to start the day right. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. The location is very convenient not far from the main attractions, yet peaceful and quiet, making it perfect for relaxation. Highly recommend staying here for anyone visiting the area!

Very good value for money. Room is clean, spacious and with all conforts and facilities, also the bed is confortable. The staff and the receptionist Pramila have been very helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was very good for both quality and variety. The place has a lovely relaxing garden where to enjoy the breakfast. The location is central, you have just to cross a road and you are in the middle of Thamel with all shops,bars and restaurants.

I was extremely impressed with the hosts, namely Bekas and Bibas. Both made it a personal mission to see that each guest was well taken care of. The breakfast was well done and plentiful: from a delicious omelette, grilled vegetables, toast, coffee or tea and fruit salad, plus all the trimmings. My room was huge and comfortable.

The neighborhood isn't the nicest, but it's still safe, and a great vision of the typical life of the Nepalese. It's quickly overlooked by the fact that the hotel is only 1/2 block a way from Thamel street, filled with restaurants, cafes, and tons of tourists strolling and taking in the Nepalese atmosphere.

Small but nicely crafted property in the next of the hustle and bustle of Thamel. Even the outside is lively and busy, hotel has a cosy and laidback vibes. Breakfast is simple.

The latch of the bathroom was broken. And since my son has just started crawling, he was heading straight to the bathroom. When we asked to fix it, they did a makeshift arrangement and secured it with a thread. It worked though.

Good quiet location just outside noisy Thamel. Amazing view of the city and the mountains from the balcony. Staff were really nice, especially very friendly guy from the restaurant and both men from security. In winter it's quite cold, so you need not just an AC, but also a heater - thankfully provided by the hotel
