An authentic masterpiece in Thamel. I stayed for a 4 nights in a room Kailashkut Suite, it was extremely comfortable, I just disappeared into the room. All the staff are very friendly and responsible. The breakfasts are delicious on the patio, but I went to restaurant GAIA for breakfast to meet friends. The Hotel is close to everything important in Thamel: streets with traditional goods, pharmacies, nail salons, store with high-quality cashmere, kind of European coffee shop Himalayan Java, best restaurants (I highly recommend visiting the restaurant The Third Eye) , shops with original equipment for mountains. Thank you very much, my adventure wouldn't be complete without staying at Nepali Ghar Hotel before and after trekking to Tibet.

Everything about this hotel is impeccable - the staff, the rooms, the restaurant, the facilities. It's a quiet and friendly oasis in the middle of the loud and busy city. The hotel kept our bags for a couple of weeks while we went trekking in the mountains, and even offered to let us re-book a non-refundable reservation using credits when we thought we would be delayed out of Lukla by a day or two. In the end we made it on time for our original date and enjoyed some well-deserved luxury. We loved our stay here and would not hesitate to go back.

My stay at Nepali Ghar Hotel was exactly what I needed after an intense trip to India. The hotel was exceptionally clean and comfortable, providing the perfect environment for me to relax and decompress from the stresses of travel. The staff at the hotel were consistently attentive and incredibly helpful throughout my stay. They were quick to assist with any requests and even arranged a private car for me to explore the sights in the area. In addition to their excellent service, I was pleasantly surprised to find complimentary chocolates waiting for me in my room each evening—a thoughtful touch that added to the overall experience. The restaurant at Nepali Ghar Hotel offered a diverse menu with a variety of options, all of which I found to be delicious. Every meal I tried exceeded my expectations. Additionally, the hotel's location proved to be very convenient, allowing me easy access to explore the vibrant neighborhood of Thamel.

The room is spacious and very cozy, comfortable bed and very nicely decorated. The woodwork inside the hotel is just amazing! We also ordered room service and the food was delicious! It was definitely worth the value.

Nepali Ghar is a great hotel, and I enjoyed my stay there. The staff are fantastic, very helpful and polite. The decor is lovely, tasteful and sophisticated and the hotel is thoughtfully designed throughout. The rooms are very clean and comfortable complete with kettle and tea & coffee, water and refillable bathroom items rather than individual small plastic packets, which is great. The reception area, restaurant and rooms are heated in the winter months, and this makes staying in and working from the hotel a pleasant experience. The wifi is good. There is a complimentary lounge with sofas and tables, plus a lovely terrace which is a nice quiet place to relax whilst having a cuppa and a biscuit. Breakfast is good, with a good range of choice, including fruit, pastries, cereals, salads, hot and cold drinks plus cooked items, which during my stay were cooked to order. The restaurant is fine and has the usual range of items available in tourist restaurants - a few Nepali & Indian dishes, pasta, pizza, sandwiches, chow mein etc. The bar is also nice in the courtyard, with very well made cocktails and a good range of beers and wines. There are many other restaurants, coffee shops etc within very short walking distance. The location is great for Thamel, and the hotel is surprisingly quiet despite being so central, an oasis of calm. Complimentary yoga in the mornings is a fantastic bonus! Nepali Ghar is my favourite place to stay in Thamel Kathmandu - I have been travelling to Kathmandu regularly for over a decade.

I LOVED everything about this hotel. It was my first time in Nepal and Im SO happy I booked Nepali Ghar. Their attention to detail and just the building itself makes you feel like you've stumbled across a secret mountaineers (luxury) lodge - with people coming and going from the Mountain. Sitting around the outside bar/ fireplace - sharing stories. Honestly - it was perfect. PLUS, it's immaculately clean, the staff are world class, the inroom dining food is some of the best Ive had anywhere and you couldnt ask for a better location. I am recommending it to anyone who will listen! :)

The doors have a weird buzzer system that buzz if you dont close the door properly. Weird.

great restaurant and bar. the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. free yoga at 6:30 am. the breakfast was huge! they have refillable products in the bathroom which was nice. lots of TV stations. we slept with the windows open (see below) and it was a bit loud at night.

The aircon didn’t work. it made for an uncomfortable sleep as the comforters are heavy. they explained that the entire floor either needs to be hot or cold on the first night and the second night that it was broken.

Characterful and very comfortable hotel in a quiet street in the centre of Thamel. A real oasis, with a lovely garden to escape the noise and bustle of Thamel. Lovely rooms with Nepali features, so much more pleasant than a chain hotel. Excellent restaurant and very good breakfast. Staff really friendly and helpful.

Everything was great

We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed doing christmas, and this place had the perfect cozy vibe for a stay doing the christmas holiday. The room was incredible clean and very comfortable. The staff was also very helpful.

We had the hotels christmas buffet/dinner on the 24th of december. It was a great experience overall but unfortunately the food wasn't very tasteful which was a shame when everything else was great. We came pretty early but the buffet had already run out off soup and meat, so we had to only eat the side dishes. It was the same issue for the breakfast buffet that wasn't very taseful even thougt the selection was good.
