I really love Amstedam and its charm of historical buildings, Canals , beeing in the city center and sleep with a Canal view. All these things I found in hotel Stanley Collection Hotel Hegra Amsterdam. Amazing location, everything walking distance, just in front of the main Canal and I was lucky I had a view on the Canal as well. I should say that hotel is historical building that was recently renovated, new showers and very nice bedroom, great amenities and very comfortable bed to sleep. The reception was so friendly, knowledgable and professional. Recently I understood they created their own guide of Stanley for local hidden places of bars, street food , restaurants, attractions and reception provided me with this info via QR code for google map. All worked great. My next stay I will book only here . It worth every euro I paid.

I liked the location, and the clean, warm atmosphere. The staff at the reception area, Paulo and the other gentleman was a GOD send. They were very kind and understanding of my recent injury, that made it difficult to navigate stairs. They were extremely accommodating and knew their craft very well. They had great knowledge of the city and the surrounding area. I appreciate friendly staff who love what they do and are exceptional at it.

It did not have a lift. Only because I had prior injury that made it difficult for me to climb stairs. Otherwise the stairs were cute and the climb would have been a good source of exercise.

I recently stayed at Hotel Hegra Amsterdam and had a lovely experience. The hotel is very cozy, which made me feel right at home. The room I stayed in was perfect, it had everything I needed and was really well-kept. What I loved most was the location—it's right on one of Amsterdam's beautiful canals, so you get that classic Amsterdam vibe as soon as you step outside. Plus, it’s within walking distance to a lot of great spots in the city. Overall, it was a really pleasant stay, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a comfortable, authentic experience in Amsterdam.

This was an experience, not a usual hotel stay. This is a 400 year old building and therefore unique. It was charming and within walking distance to everything and right on the canal. The gentlemen who work there are extremely pleasant and helpful and ready with an umbrella! Coffee, water and juice were available.

Due to it's age there was no elevator and the steps were very, very steep and curved and we were on the top floor. I compared it to being in a tree house and the bathroom size like being in a boat. I was not prepared for this but in looking back the information was on the booking confirmation that I printed. I did not look carefully and I presume that information was online and I didn't see it. Fortunately we were able to manage but you thought twice about going in and out. There was no restaurant but there were places to eat nearby and they provided that information in a folder in your room.

The location is fantastic in the canal district of Amsterdam. We had a 4th floor room for three people which was nicely decorated, with comfortable beds and good amenities. The bathroom was small but actually was fine and well laid out.

When I read previous reviews that the stairs were steep, it didn’t prepare us for how incredibly steep they were. Think nearly ladder steep getting to the 3rd and 4th floors. We had my 84 year old mother with us and she is very mobile and well but if she had not been it would have been impossible.

Loved the location and the staff. The beds were comfortable. Our room was on the 4th floor and as with most small accomodation in Amsterdam, there was no lift. The stairs are very very steep, almost ladders which is fun but would not suit anyone who wasn’t able to climb up and down. And is not good for anyone with a bag bigger than a carry on bag. And the bathroom is tiny but has everything you need. But we did enjoy our stay.

There was black mould in the ceiling corners of the room.

From the moment of arrival, the staff at Hegra exceeded expectations with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. Since it was my first time in Amsterdam, they explained the city well and told me how to get to all the attractions. They also recommended several places to me, they even had a book in the room where I could find nice places to eat. As I came on Easter, they had made chocolate eggs for me, which was very sweet of the staff. They also brought my luggage upstairs with a robe, something I have never seen before. All in all it was such a nice stay, I felt like in an Amsterdam movie, while watching people next to the canal. I enjoyed the stay 100%.

They were always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests, making me feel incredibly well-cared for throughout my stay. The room itself was cozy and well-maintained, providing a perfect haven for a solo traveler like me. I didn't have a canal view, but as an early bird, I enjoyed watching the sunrise from the room. The bed was incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep, and the amenities provided were of high quality. The attention to detail in the room's design and cleanliness further enhanced my overall experience. What truly stood out about this hotel was its prime location. I was situated right in the heart of the city, allowing for easy access to various attractions, restaurants, and shopping centers. Exploring the area and immersing myself in the local culture was a breeze thanks to the hotel's convenient location. Whether it was strolling through charming neighborhoods or visiting renowned landmarks, everything was just a stone's throw away.

Great location on beautiful canal. Easy walking to centre and shops, cafes, bars etc. The staff were helpful and courteous and happy to assist.

The room was smaller than perhaps we’d thought, the bathroom very compact. But to be expected as in a converted canal house. It is NOT a hotel. There are no extra facilities. Coffee machine in hallway was welcome. The building is narrow and stairs steep. Not an issue for those able and agile to get up and down. But don’t expect a lift nor breakfast. This was fine if you know this in advance. It didn’t impact our stay here and I would happily go back.

Hotel Hegra is incredibly charming, if you're looking for a well-located, reasonably priced, historic hotel with canal views, this is it. We requested a room on the first floor and they were able to accommodate our request (though I believe this is dependent on the type of room you book). This property is several hundred years old, so it has some quirks (narrow Dutch stairs, single-pane windows), but it's very well-maintained and comfortable. The room was clean, and offered good storage space despite us staying in one of their smaller rooms. The two employees we met were incredibly kind and helpful, we would one hundred percent stay here in the future. This hotel is reachable from Amsterdam Centraal station via tram and then a short walk, which is also very convenient.

If you have limited mobility, this probably isn't the property for you. There is only one ground-floor room, which I imagine could be loud. Being a historic property, the steep stairs are not for everyone. While they do have a great coffee maker in the lobby, there is not one/a kettle in the room (at least not in the Double Room with Canal View).
