We absolutely loved our stay! Once we figured out the transportation to get to the lodge, everything was easy and well organized. It’s a fabulous place to be both active and relax: it’s right on the Queen Charlotte Track, we borrowed the kayaks, and we swam in the water. We also enjoyed sitting in the hammocks and relaxing in the hot tub. The food was delicious (though I found the prices a bit high for NZ) and enjoyed in their lovely dining room or patio. The service was great! We can’t wait to come back!

The hotel was fantastic located on the lovely Endeavour inlet. The view from the room amazing and the room itself very comfortable with a very good bathroom. We didn't have breakfast because were leaving early I so can't comment on that but the evening meal was good and food and drinks were no pricier than the mainland which was nice given that they do have a captive market somewhat. I would recommend.

My only slight niggle was that the transport to the island it transpired was run by the same company/organisation who ran the hotel - at least the same payment details appeared on the bill. Despite this there was no integrated facility to book transport at the time of booking. We hadn't realised how far the journey was and assumed it was more of a water taxi type service so left the booking until very late which could have ended in disaster - a room and no way to get there. Obviously partly our own fault but we were doing an extensive tour of NZ and had many things to organise.

I stayed here before and looked forward to returning. It’s a gorgeous property in a wonderful waterfront location. The suite rooms are on the expensive side but worth the extra and are fantastically comfortable - especially after a long walk on the Queen Charlotte track to get there. The restaurant is lovely with a fireplace and great outlook. I remembered previously having an excellent hamburger for dinner so had the same and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant staff are excellent.

Outdoor seating on my suite terrace would’ve been nice. The suites at either far end of the 2 rows of suites would be more private. I ordered the packed lunch and would’ve appreciated a healthier ‘cake’ option. The chocolate cake was extremely sweet and certainly not ‘home made’. A fruit/nut/oat cake or muffin would be much nicer and would be appreciated by walkers and cyclists (similar comment applies to the sister property at Punta Cove).

The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Pip in the office, particularly, was lovely and helpful with our booking and welcoming us to Furneaux. We were walking the Queen Charlotte Track and appreciated arriving to such a beautiful and luxurious retreat. We stayed in the Endeavour Suites which were beautifully and comfortably appointed - great beds, lovely toiletries and facilities , private with a beautiful outlook. It lived up to all our expectations.

The hot tub was not working as well as it could have been.

We had a lovely 1 bedroom room exactly the same as shown in the photos. It looked out onto the water and it was lovely to lie in bed watching the pukekohes and weka walking past. Very private. All the staff were excellent. Good walking tracks nearby.

The actual lodge itself (restaurant) was a little plainer inside than I expected.

Beautiful setting with lovely rooms well spaced over the complex. Our accomodation was nestled in the bush. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The facilities were excellent. The toiletries were very high quality. Having kayaks included was excellent. The meal at the restaurant was top class for three of our four diners. Our gluten free companion was well catered for.

There could be more options for vegetarians on the dinner menu.

My husband and I stayed in a suite after walking the QC track, we were very impressed with Furneaux from start to finish and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Although it may seem expensive it is worth the price for the location and services, a real oasis in the Sounds. The suites are immaculate and a lovely touch being allowed to use the hot tubs and kayaks for free. Beautiful food and great service at the restaurant too! Looking forward to returning already!

The room was really nice and had a separate lounge area to relax in when the weather wasn't great. They had a great selection of food and drinks options available. The lodge by far had the best food on the track. The staff were all really friendly.

The lodge building itself felt a bit run down and not what we were expecting for a luxury lodge. The sink in our room looked like it had seen better days.

We stayed in a Cooks Cottage. Gorgeous rooms. Friendly staff, we arrived early for check in due to changes in plans and our room was available quickly. Such a relaxing atmosphere. Love the bar and restaurant on site. Food was great. My toddler loved exploring the foreshore. Couldn’t fault it. Everything was really well organised.

The location is absolutely stunning and remote. Unless you like lots of people around! The room was fabulous, spacious and excellently appointed. The view was gorgeous. The staff are superb and friendly and nothing was a problem. Couldn't fault them. It could be somewhere tropical with all the palm trees.

That this website had noted a hot tub was in our room. This is simply untrue. The hot tub is outside and available to everyone.
