Supposed to walk the QC track but our daughter fell ill and so we ditched the tent this section to stay here while her fever subsided the next day. It did not, so we stayed the next day, and the next day.... and eventually we had to give up walking the track at all. Spent our 4 days at Te Mahia and maybe that was a plan. It was beautifully peaceful and just a tranquil place. Accommodation is excellent, very comfortable beds, well appointed, everything you could possibly need, plenty of hot water, friendly owner, could not fault the place. Would come back with family to spend time here again. Easy to get the boat to/from Waterfall. Just an amazing view every day. Good walks up to the lookout where you can see for miles on clear days.

Nothing.

I have found a new favourite holiday destination in Te Mahia Bay Resort! The location was amazing set on a private beach, the owners very helpful and we were in one of the rooms that is over a 100 years old but has been modernised, but still keeps some of its yesteryear charm, so very unique and special. And these particular units in the resort are truely waterfront, which was a lovely surprise. We tramped in from Anakiwa on a section of the Queen Charlotte Track for three nights, the restaurant was closed for the season but we had access to a full kitchen so just took in all we needed. We just loved it all!

Te Mahia is a slice of paradise in the Queen Charlotte-Kennepure Sound. The location is a balm for your soul in the busy life we lead today. It is exquisitely beautiful but the locations beauty is surpassed by Trevor and Janet who were exemplified Kiwi kindness. As Canadian golfers pursuing the links, Trevor arranged for us to join a golf tournament at the Nopera golf course. This required a short boat water ride across the gorgeous sound by equally kind and generous Kiwis Ang and Christopher- who were playing in the tournament. While we scooted across the sound our guides pointed out features around the shore which were not in any guide books. Trevor arranged a delicious dinner for us upon our return which put the fresh in freshly caught. Our chefs were an engaging young couple who prepared a delicious meal. This place is not to be missed in any trip to New Zealand.

Nothing we loved everything.

For us, everything went well. Lots of things were available for us to do. The scenery and walks were lovely, although some required a bit more effort than we are accustomed to. The staff were very friendly, but not in our face. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking in the bay. We really enjoyed the meals, but recommend booking as the food truck is small and walk-in meals aren't always possible (although they will if they can). We also self-catered for breakfasts, and some lunches and dinners, so options are easy if the food truck is unavailable. We had reasonable cellphone coverage in most areas. The rooms were comfortable and tidy, and well maintained. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere could not have been better for us.

Internet was intermittent (although this was possibly a very good thing if you want a tech-free time).

We had a fabulous stay at Te Mahia. Arriving by boat at the jetty , the view of the resort was breathtaking! We had rooms at the front of the building : wonderful sea views and only moments from the sea . Our rooms were charming and comfortable and staying in the older part of the property you got a real sense of history of the place . The food at Tinkers Kitchen was delicious: fresh and cooked to order , and a great option to BYO. The owners Trevor and Jann were great hosts : super helpful and informative. We loved our time there , and very much hope to return !

Trevor and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. Te Mahia is absolute paradise, and for the price charged it's a bargain to go somewhere this incredible. Yes, the rooms are a tad dated but the resort is well looked after and the facilities all clean and working. Everything is exactly as per the pictures too. The best nights sleep in total peace, and waking up to that view. Unforgettable part of our NZ trip. Wouldn't hesitate recommending. Tinkers restaurant when open was superb too.

Water taxis are pricey even when booked ahead (what a way to arrive at the resort though). On Booking.com it mentions restaurant however this isn't always open, some clearer details ahead of stay on opening times on website/Google maps/facebook needed. Trevor kindly made us pizza when it was closed so we didn't go hungry.

It's paradise! Wonderfull place with a great beach where you can spot stingrays. You can go fishing, on a paddleboard/canoo and walking. The rooms where authentic in a good way. Neat and tidy and we had an amazing view over the bay.Jann, Trevor and the other staff were sooo nice. It was a fantastic stay.

Nothing really. The only thing you have to take into account is that you have to get a watertaxi from Havelock to get there. The roads are clise off because they're really damaged.

We had a wonderful stay at the resort. We were looking for a place to relax and unwind and the place was perfect for us. The studio was immaculately clean and tidy, with everything and more than you need for a great self-catering stay. Trevor and Jann are very kind and accommodating, picking us up and dropped us off at the wharf and ensuring we have a great time. We also had an amazing dinner at the Tinker's Kitchen. Cannot recommend more. :-)

Nothing.

This is a beautiful location with stunning scenery and a lovely garden. The owners/ staff were nice and informative. They arrive at the boat and transport your luggage. The kitchen was well equipped, and the room clean and in good condition.

I expected to find small amenities like shampoo and conditioner as it was billed as a resort. Also the kitchen was not open on the day we arrived and the choices are limited, as I need gluten free options.

We loved our stay at Te Mahia. I went with a group of friends and my one-year-old. It is a beautiful place to spend some time, right on the water, overlooking the sounds, nestled in a quiet bay. We were able to hire kayaks one afternoon, and walk parts of Queen Charlotte Track, as well as just relaxing on the balcony enjoying the beautiful view. It is good value for money. Jann and Trevor were very friendly and accommodating, which also added a lot to the stay. Due to roads being closed, we chose to catch a water taxi from Picton to a nearby bay and walk in, which was a very enjoyable way to travel. We all want to come back and highly recommend.
