We totally enjoyed the hospitality of the owner, this is the first b&b experience for my kids and they loved it. It is set in a farm-like huge green land, yet only minutes of drive away from the Greymouth downtown. Very convenient for a family trip. At night we were walking outside the house, we saw so many stars in the sky, my kids said they had never seen milky way this up close. The house is very classically decorated, the beds are super comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. I also want to thank the owner for sending us the iPad my kid accidentally left behind.

Loved that it was a short 4-5 minute drive out of Greymouth. We opted for the private stand alone cabin rather than the lodge rooms. Loved the privacy and parking directly at the front of the door. Host was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Facilities were all very clean, tidy and comfortable. Would definitely be quite comfortable for a lengthier stay (we were only there overnight as we were taking the trans alpine rail the following day) Would recommend Oak Lodge.

Robin (and his dog) were very welcoming and his property is lovely. The gardens are immaculate and the whole place is meticulously maintained, despite being a period property. The rooms were extremely comfortable and well furnished and the breakfast was home-cooked, delicious and the eggs came from the chickens clucking outside, so couldn’t have been fresher!

There is no lift and the rooms are all up flights of stairs, so not great for anyone with mobility problems.

spacious, very clean and had everything one could possibly think of. Washing machine even. The host was very attentive and extremely helpful & friendly, and the house pet dog was also very welcoming and friendly. The gardens are an absolute delight and the efforts in organically growing their own herbs & vegetables are terrific. I would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent service.

pillows getting close to use by date perhaps? bit too soft, but hardly a problem. Otherwise, can't fault the place.

Absolutely brilliant property , comfort plus. Room size was fabulous and our own balcony when we were able to eat. The guest lounge had fridge, microwave, jug for endless tea and coffee and refrigerating supplies. Very quiet and dark to ensure a great nights sleep. Set in a beautiful garden and easy driving distance to Greymouth. Host was very welcoming, breakfast superb and sent off with explicit driving directions to our next stop. Put Oak Lodge on your wish list.

It was so nice to be welcomed by Robin and his fluffy side-kick, Chico. Robin showed us around and explained the history of the building. The room we chose was set up just the way we like it and had everything we needed. Coming down in the morning into the magnificent dining room, we had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed the views of the distant hills and Robin's beautiful garden, complete with fantail birds flitting around and enjoying the sun. Robin recommended we visit Punakaiki (also known as Pancake Rocks). We did. It was one of the best decisions we made on our holiday and we are most grateful to Robin for recommending this amazing (in the true meaning of the word) site. Thank you, again, Robin, for your good advice and a memorable stay at your wonderful Oak Lodge. Driving over the bridge from main street Greymouth to Oak Lodge, also provided viewings of interesting geological features.

From our arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble We were upgraded to a beautiful bedroom with en suite facilities The lounge with balcony offered extra comfort The magazines were particularly welcome as were the books and leaflets plus complimentary tea , coffee and access to a microwave, kitchen facilities. The breakfast was all we could wish for and an evening stroll around the extensive gardens was just perfect ....

Stayed in the self-catering cottage on site. Facilities were excellent, and the host was a pleasure to talk to - he made check in/out very easy. Free parking a bonus. Ideal location if looking to stay in Greymouth/surrounding areas.

Breakfast was great, lots of fresh locally grown produce of which the host Robin was quite proud. The room was large and easy to keep warm. We had a balcony room with a view of the surrounding mountains and sheep grazing adjacent to the property. Robin gave us good tips on things to see.

Very minor only - not a complaint - but perhaps a few more power points could be added in the room, for convenience.

The location was about 5 minutes away from Greymouth, and very close to Cobden. The Apartment we stayed in was beautifully well appointed with all you would expect for a stand-alone unit for a couple. The bathroom had a fantastic shower. The apartment was is good grounds, and still had access to a spa and a pool table that were inside the Lodge.
