Location, Room size and facilities in the room, Comfy bed, Very helpful and friendly staff. Lots of eateries in easy walking distance of the motel. ATM within easy walking distance from the motel. Supermarket 2 minutes by car or 10 minutes walk.

We stayed for 5 days, the motel has no laundry facilities. Our room was serviced everyday, emptied the rubbish bin and replaced towels, never made our bed, never changed our bedding. Walls are quite thin so if you have noisy neighbours you will hear them.

A really great location with the hockey turf within easy walking distance and the local tavern just across the road. The owners were super friendly and helpful and represented Whangarei so well. It was nice to have fresh towels and tea, coffee and milk replaced each day. It is an older motel which is reflected in the reasonable price but is decorated in an up to date fashion and is very clean. The sheets were on the bed were top quality and the heat pump kept us cosey and warm. There were lots of TV channels too. We really enjoyed our visit and would certainly stay at the Kensington Motel again.

Room including bathroom was good for the price. Nothing looked too old and need of work. I was very comfortable. Nice to have room serviced every day even though I was only staying 2 nights. Customer service was friendly.

The water pressure in the shower was quite low but really not that bad. The parking was a bit of a squeeze but okay for me as I had a smaller car. Might be hard for larger cars/4WDs. Nothing was particularly bad at all.

Motel unit ( 2 bedroom ) was vey clean and well presented . The bed was comfortable and the location ,next to a small shopping complex was good. Excellent Thai restaurant ( recommended by owner ) close by with other food outlets handy . Easy 10min drive to main Whangarei basin.

Soap And makeup flannel on high shelf in bathroom didnt find until morning we were leaving . would have been better placed by basin /ps I'm not short ! Perhaps a couple of colourful cushions on lounge suite would lift the black ,grey ,white decor and make the main area more welcoming

Clean and tidy unit, friendly staff, comfy bed.

Being a smoker I didn't like being stuck outside in the driveway with no shelter when it rained. We have stayed here many, many times before to watch our grandchildren's weekend sport, and smoking was allowed outside your room at the tables under shelter. I consider myself to be a respectful smoker and wouldn't smoke if others were around or windows open so because of this would only stay again as the last resort.

Liked that they were able to move us to another room....

Although we booked for 4 people, it was assumed they would share the queen bed which was actually for 4 x men so we had to pay extra on the 'bargain' I got online. It was assumed that there was a couple amongst those staying over, which wasn't the case. Maybe, look at the wording of what is required when people make a booking?

Recently renovated and sparkling clean. Our One Bedroom Unit had a full kitchen and fairly comfortable beds. Split system a/c was very appreciated as it was warm and wet during our stay. The local area is full of food options and the wifi was strong. The staff were just beautiful to interact with.

The usual bathroom issues: no exhaust fan, no hooks to hang clothes. It was pricey but good.

Very friendly staff. Clean room. GREAT LOCATION. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Living room has the big bed and aircon. Good water pressure in shower. Would recommend for a quick stop over.

Bed and pillows are both a bit too firm for me. Shower room is small and the bathroom is very narrow and tiny. 😂I’m a big big girl and it kinda made me feel claustrophobic.

We were in Unit 8 Major concern that there weren’t any fire / smoke alarms anywhere in our unit . For this reason alone I would not stay again. Several window security brackets in unit were very loose and need checking 2 windows in lounge did not have security brackets .

Heather and Gordon are friendly, thoughtful and charming hosts. The room was clean, comfortable and serviced daily. The location ideal for my visit being within easy walking distance to some of my family. I enjoyed meals from three of the shops that are literally right next door and the supermarket is less than a kilometre away.

I was sad to leave. Heather was there to wish me well early on Sunday morning and it was like saying farewell to a good friend.
