I’ve read several reviews about the need for 4x4. Also I called the front desk and they said coming with a 2WD will be tricky. I’m not interested in a pickup and drop service for 35 OMR. So I booked a 4x4 and drive there by myself. The location can be easily accessed with a 2WD. If you want to go up the sand dunes by yourself in your own car, then you need a 4x4. Otherwise I suggest to book a 2WD, drive in a constant gear and constant speed on the sand. You’ll be fine.

We opted for a transfer to the camp due to lack of a proper 4x4. The transfer included dune bashing on the same date. The drivers tried to impress with their desert driving skills from the first day. Our room was gorgeous with a window view to dunes. Dinner was amazing, as a vegan was I was indulged with variety of vegan options, which for Oman is not a small feat. We enjoyed the half day desert ride and dune bashing. Some drivers are amazing.

Wifi internet was really bad, 4G was much faster. Pita bread was too sweet to my liking. Very few options for lunch, pack some snacks with you!

Among the various stays I've had in the desert, this has been one of the most pleasant. The Premium Cottages are bright and spacious; the staff very helpful and kind.

rather close to other camps, one is right next door. from the dune you’ll also see the next town, so doesn’t feel like being in the middle of the desert.

Very accessible location not far in the desert, suitable for making trips around the area. We were upgraded for free to a newer unit which was spatious, nicely designed and tidy, the bed was huge and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner was rich and tasty.

Breakfast could be improved. Some dishes during dinner were kept too cold. Also (not really a disadvantage, but it should be mentioned), this is not a camp for adventurers who want a real desert life experience.

Peaceful and beautiful in the desert. Very calming after working in Muscat . Skys were stunning at night, the moon so bright. We got upgraded to super deluxe on arrival . The staff are so welcoming , kind and friendly. Dune bashing sunset trip was very enjoyable. Saw the camels at night while star gazing walking past the camp . Truly lovely experience so glad I did it.

We arrived at the evening, and stayed for two days, and therefore they upgraded our accomodation for a nice, big stone house with huge windows. They hat a golfcar for transferring us and our luggages as well. Dinner is super great buffet with bbq as well. We had a private jeep tour with a great guide, and also ridden a quad, both worthed their price. Staff is very kind, the owner made the transfer in and out of the camp.

Only accessible by a 4x4, so if you don't have one you have to pay 25 omr for the transfer.

Nice camp in desert. Drove from Al Maha Al Wasil fuel station. Before we let reduce the tyre pressure for 1 OMR, by return they did the oppoosite and you can wash your car for 1.50-2 OMR. We enjoyed the stay, you can walk around the camp, watching sunset/rise or just sitting on the terrace and looking aroung. We were free upgraded and got very nice bungalow in the corner with the view on dune hills and in the morning we could look for the sunrise. The sun appears approx one hour after the official sunrise, do not get too early like we did :-)

The breakfest was not so good, maybe we were too late there, but still we could find something to get.

Location is beautiful. Camp is great. It was a slow day, so they upgraded our room. We were driving a salon car, so we had the camp's driver pick us up in a 4x4, we also did dune bashing with the driver - he was an awesome guy. Really kind. The dinner was lovely and a lot of options to choose from. The room was very cozy and big. Went to sleep in darkness looking at the stars, woke up to the sight of wild camels just beyond the camp. Great!

More options for breakfast. Otherwise, it was a great stay!

Lovely camp a 12km drive from Al Wasil. Staff was wonderful and took good care of us. Food was great and room was comfortable. Easily reached with a 2WD car, just need to deflate your tires. However, we did drive down the wrong path and got stuck, but they quickly came and pushed us out. All activities are easily arranged and available nearby. Overall we had a great stay.

This is a larger camp so if you are looking for a Bedouin experience this is not it. Also there are a couple of other camps nearby so not as isolated as I believe some other camps are so at sunset or sunrise it can be hard to find that solitary place to watch.
