This is an amazing property located in the heart of Porto. We did a lot of meticulous research when choosing our accommodations in Porto and we opted for Torel Palace because of its location, the size and amenities offered in the rooms, and the property's amazing design including all of the seasonal decor they put up for the holidays. We stayed in room #23, which is on the top floor and features a bathroom with an incredible skylight. The hotel's restaurant, Blind, offers an indulgent breakfast and if you go for dinner, the tasting menu is a unique experience for the adventurous. During our stay, we had the absolute pleasure of being assisted by Bruna, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure our stay and vacation was nothing short of amazing. Bruna's warm and welcoming personality immediately made us feel at home, and she took the time to understand our interests and preferences and tailoring her recommendations to create a truly personalized experience. Whether it was guiding us to amazing restaurants, arranging private boat tours, or just giving us a general overview of everything we should see in the city, Bruna's expertise was invaluable. Overall, I would easily recommend Torel Palace as a home away from home for any of my friends traveling to Porto. Thank you to the entire Torel Palace team for making our stay truly special!!

The location is good as it is a short walk to the train station and there is a square near by with a number of excellent restaurants. The hotel is on a somewhat quieter street and that is a plus. Our room with a balcony was great for sitting outside with a table and two chairs. The staff is great and very helpful with local recommendations etc. The breakfast is excellent and they made accommodations to prepare a breakfast to go on our checkout day as we had an early flight. Would definitely stay again

It would be nice to have an additional dining option as Blind is quite exclusive and not practical for a casual dinner. The nearby restaurants were great but sometimes you just don't want to venture out. Our room was stylish but not as functional as we would have liked. Seating area had two wing chairs but no table to set a drink.

Staff professional and very helpful with arrangements for dining, transportation and locating an open pharmacy on Sunday morning. Breakfast is generous . Two other food options in hotel as well. Our junior suite was spacious. Bed was comfortable. A welcoming bottle of cava and petit fours were a nice surprise. Well located for river walks.

The junior suite we were assigned did not have a sitting area other than a couple benches in niches and one small chair. It did have a desk which came in handy. However I had booked a suite specifically expecting expanded seating options. This was a minor disappointment.

First and foremost, the staff were tremendous!! They were incredibly helpful organizing our visit to Portugal, long before we’d arrived and throughout our stay (restaurant reservations, booking wonderful Douro tour as well as other train arrangements and more). The hotel itself was anything you wanted it to be- quiet spots to read or relax, popular lounge, beautiful building with historical stories to tell. The restaurant Blind was a once in a lifetime experience, if we had a vote they’d get a Michelin star! We’ll stay here again when we return to Porto.

Having to leave.

Great location. Staff were extremely kind and helpful, exceptional service. Room was extremely quiet and peaceful. Shutters on the windows so the room was dark at night. Bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities were excellent. Room was serviced twice daily, once to clean and also in the evening to draw shutters, refill water, tea and coffee and place chocolates on the bed.

The bathroom setup was a little odd, in a cube in the middle of the room accessed through an open doorway. The toilet and shower doors are glass doors that opaque but are not soundproof or sealed. The shower water ran into the bathroom floor every time it was used. No milk was provided for tea and coffee in the room.

The hotel is gorgeous and very charming, rooms are nicely decorated with lots of nice touches in line with the literature theme (think every day a different bookmark, lots of books to pickup and check in the hallways and room), location is good, staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a good buffet selection, and nice a la carte options but could use a few more veggies. The restaurant terrace with the pool behind the tables is a pleasure to sit at.

While the building is renovated and clean (no musky smells or anything like that), it's still an old one - the floors can be a bit creaky, the windows and doors are old style and let noise in (seagulls are surprisingly noisy and in addition Porto as a city has a buzzing background noise during the night). If you prefer/ need perfect quietness for your sleep, probably this is not the place for you. The views from the windows and balcony are un-spectacular (at least from the Jose Regio room).

A very nice hotel, made even nicer by the friendly and very engaging staff. They deserve a lot of credit.

My only real complaint is that from our terrace (room 15, I believe) there was often the stench of fried beef, possibly coming from a utility shaft on the left. It was not pleasant to spend time on it for any extensive time period. The hook on the wall in the toilet was also broken. We did enjoy the breakfast, but I should say that we were scared off by the prohibitive cost of the restaurant, Michelin star or not. The hot dog place a few doors down was much better value for money!

Such a beautiful hotel with stunning rooms. When I think of boutique hotel, this is exactly what comes to mind. The details and ascetics are highly matched by the level of care and service from the staff. Everyone here that we met genuinely wanted us to have a pleasant stay which was so refreshing. The breakfast was amazing and for our check out we had to catch an early train which meant we would miss out on breakfast. Reception arranged a breakfast box for us which was a treat for the train journey to Lisbon. Little details like this just made our stay wonderful!

There were two little things which to be fair is a struggle to fault the hotel for. The outdoor pool isn’t heated and the weather during our stay was warm but wasn’t the weather to get into a very cold pool 😝 The other thing was the hot water in the shower took a while to heat up. We didn’t say to reception so wasn’t sure if this was just how it worked or if there was a problem with the shower. I felt bad wasting water but it had to run for a good few minutes before it was slightly warm to hot. Our stay was so short it didn’t bother us. Like I said, 2 very small things which is at a push to say what I didn’t like about our stay.

Located in the hotel's dining room/restaurant in the basement, the breakfast area includes the restful and private terrace area adjacent to the pool. Breakfast service was excellent. The Eggs Florentine are exceptional - poached perfectly on a very fresh bread with spinach base and homemade hollandaise.

Nothing to dislike provided that you do not expect this facility to be modern. Instead, the ownership and management take pride in the period feel of this 19th century building and the high quality renovation and restoration that they have undertaken. The spacious rooms and high ceilings ensure good circulation of air.

The staff were particularly kind, helpful, and professional. The welcome was generously hospitable. The building has been beautifully restored, although a couple of the bathroom fixtures, reflected the age of the building,, but not adversely. The breakfast offered anything you could possibly want, including cooked to order selections from the kitchen. Try the eggs Florentine! The light food/drink offerings in the library are delicious. Mario is so helpful and knowledgeable. Torel Palace is a haven of peace in a busy vibrant city. (actually stayed three nights, not the one that booking.com recorded)
