Nice location Nice selection of drinks at the bar Nice view of the mountains from our room

The hotel car park is TINY and we couldn’t manage to get a space. You can park over the road , but it’s £10 for 24 hours - which when the hotel advertises free parking , is a bit rubbish. Hotel guests shouldn’t need to pay for parking. A few of cobwebs and spiders in the room, but otherwise clean. Very busy bar, if you don’t reserve a table you won’t get sat. Telly remote didn’t work.

Good choice of breakfast options and they were happy to amend the selection to your preference. Nice to have fresh coffee (not instant in a pot brought to the table). Room was clean and comfortable, little extras included, coffee machine and a fridge with fresh milk. Was nice to have bath sheets not bath towels. While there Storm Bert hit and the staff were so accommodating with advice on the roads and the use of the bar area to just sit it out. No expectations to spend money.

Great location away from the main road, fantastic cooked breakfast but no fruit at the buffet / cereal area, which is unusual for a hotel of this calibre. The beers were awesome, as was the food, and the staff were the best!

Our room was stiflingly hot at times due to it being above the kitchen, we were warned of this at check in and given an electric fan, which wasn't really adequate, and the window only opens slightly. Air conditioning would be a major improvement, but that's the only negative thing about the whole stay, everything else was great.

Really good room with view of mountains. Well decorated and maintained. Huge bed with good linen Breakfast was amazing with good choice and lasted me until dinner in the hotel, which again was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful, even booking me an extra night, without having to change rooms. Good parking

Room a bit chilly, but unseasonably cool for my stay Staff seemed to be working excessive hours and short staffed On check out. I was asked for my card to verify my room. Whereupon I was charged for 3 nights When I said it was booked and 2 nights paid for, on booking. Com, the manager said, no pay in full on checkout. When I questioned this, he argues and said Prove It. I showed him my online banking, af which point he said he would refund me, which came through 24 hours later.

Room was good, fairly roomy and bathroom and shower great with good water pressure, ample toiletries and towels. It was rather hot though as we were over the kitchens and could hear the hum of the fridges and freezers which obviously gave off heat as well as the cooking. we had to keep the window open all the time (and it only opened by a quarter) so we also propped the entry door open too whilst in the room. The excess heat was mentioned to management.

Some breakfast fruit such as prunes, apricots and peaches would have been a nice addition, also muesli.

Janet the manageress was superb as was her gentleman colleague The room was lovely, comfy bed and pillows. Food excellent except for comment below.

The wall in our bedroom seemed a bit thin. We were kept awake the by our neighbours tv and argument. The food was all lovely except the chips. Not sure what the chef does with them but they seemed dehydrated and tasteless. We noticed several other diners plates going back with chips on, so it seemed a common theme.

Ideally located in the centre of the village, which provides easy access to the surrounds, be it the Lake or hills. Excellent reception, with a warm welcome, after which we were taken to our room. Everything was explained and when I mentioned that I was leaving early and there was an immediate offer to bring up some breakfast materials, which was very welcome. The room was spacious, clean and well presented, with there being everything needed. The room was also quiet. We ate in the dining room and was well pleased with the food, service and surrounds. To add, there was plenty of parking space available. Altogether an delightful experience and booked in for next year!

Everything was fine, thank you.

£1.3M refurbishment has transformed the Crown into a real luxury hotel but one that retains its centre of the village friendliness. We have stayed at all of the Coniston hotels and can safely say that the others have a lot of catching up to do now. Rooms were spacious, very clean and comfortable and the bar meals excellent. Breakfast was spot on with buffet starter then a full English my pick! Diane and the team were super friendly and efficient - there's a lot of laughter about the place now which is always a good sign. We're not going to tell you to go and try it yourself as we want to keep it for ourselves! :-)

The only possible addition to the new Crown would be to add a 22Kw EV charger to the car park.

Fantastic breakfast and dinner - lots of choice! The friendly staff are really personable, always asking how our day was/how our evening was. We had to rearrange our booking from our original dates and they were really helpful with this and even matched the original price. The hotel is in an excellent location and has beautiful views (I'd recommend doing the Consiton 7 Peaks if you're up for a hiking challenge!). The spacious rooms are really lovely, with tea, coffe and milk provided. The shower facility was really good. I loved that the place was so dog-friendly - I'd happily bring my dog here. We were provided free parking, so all in all, our stay was excellent value for money. Would happily stay again.

Our room was a little hot overnight, but the room did provide a fan which elimated some of the heat.

The room's facilities were excellent and completed to a very high standard. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast and dinner was superb - highly recommend eating and drinking at the pub. The location was perfect for nearby hikes and exploring the Lake District.

The room didn't have air conditioning and was very hot during the night, even with the window open and the heating off. We appreciate the hotel is following regulations, but the smoke alarm did flash very brightly through the night which disrupted sleep.
