Very friendly staff, real service with a smile, from everybody we saw.(which we found to be an exeption in Bulgaria), beautifull laid out in the mountains close to devils cave. Even in hot august we did not mis the lack of AC, is gets more chilly in the mountains. Our window had a musquitonet, great touch! The restaurant was good, we could dine outside on the terrace with a nice view!

For the price we paid we have no complaints at all!. But just a notice: They have great, more expensive, cabins along the river. But if you book in the main building as we did, the spit-level room with 2 toilets workes fine, but there is no space for sitting or kitchenette or anything, so better expect a family room rather than appartement.

I came to Trigrad for one night, mostly to do the Devil's Throat cave but I ended up staying an extra night and wish I had stayed longer. Castle Horlog is an excellent option at the bottom of the gorge, just next to the stream. It is within walking distance of both the Devil's Throat cave and the tiny village of Trigrad (though you'll need a car to arrive to the castle). The atmosphere makes you feel like you are staying in a Bavarian castle. Parking is free and plentiful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast had an excellent selection of options. I had dinner one night in the restaurant and it was good. The hotel receptionist spoke English but she was only there for a couple hours a day in the afternoon. I had some trouble finding out how to contact a local guide to do a via ferrata hike and when the receptionist wasn't there, I ended up asking the kitchen staff using Google Translate. They were very helpful and took me to someone else who made a call and got me connected, but more information for non-Bulgarians about local activities would be nice because there is actually quite a lot to do in the area if you like hiking, caves or mountain biking. I recommend contacting Go Ride Tours (goride.bg or on Instagram @goride_tours) if you want an English-speaking guide who can help organize activities in the area.

Wifi was pretty weak when I was able to get it in the room at all, but it was stronger in the restaurant downstairs. I tried to pay for the second night with my credit card (the first I paid online) but the credit card terminal wouldn't accept any of 3 different cards I tried at different times. You may want to bring cash for things like dinner or extra charges.

Great atmosphere and facilities, very family like staff. I would repeat the stay but for longer than one night as getting to the place is tough. But it feels magical yes!

I did not like that there were some noisy teenagers and kids left alone next to our room being a bit noisy at midnight. However once we asked them to stop they did making noise. Maybe it would be a good idea to inform guest with kids to be careful supervising their kids as having a good rest/stay doesn’t involve someone shouting at midnight in the animal park or rooms.

Peaceful place, next to the river, we had a very nice dinner outside and the host has been very kind with us. Breakfast was good too. The view also was great (see the attached picture). Overall a good experience!

The overall concept of "castle" is a bit kitch (there's nothing ancient in that building, it's a "fake" castle), and I can't get used to the lack of bidet (I'm Italian) and to the "open shower" (meaning that the shower in the toilet room doesn't have any box, hence you make a lake when you have a shower).

The Horlog Castle is The Location! Nestled between the magnificent Trigrad Gorge, it offers everything a tourist would need - location, kind hosts, delicious food, fresh air, spectacular views, interesting information about the Rhodope Mountains and its flora and fauna. A couple of tourist paths start from the Castle - easy to follow and well-marked. The Devil's Throat is just 5-10 minutes walk away. We will definitely go back!

Everything was perfect!

The location, staff, food, we're all excellent with plenty to do and see. Everything was so very good that we overlooked the niggles in the bathroom

The bathroom was not quite up to scratch. The shower water didn't run away, making the gloss floor tiles very slippery and bath mats not in use. We had to use our towels to stand on for safety and to get dry, and these were not replaced .

We were looking for a special hotel and this is exactly what we found, an even more! isolated location, realy special atmosphere. Clean and special. Highly recommend!

On the first day the breakfast was very basic and no vegetables at all. On the second day there was a significant improvement vegetables, benitze..

The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful areas in Bulgaria (in my opinion the most beautiful). Serene and peaceful surroundings. There is enough space to park your car. The room was spacious enough, I liked the breakfast especially the freshly fried traditional mekitsi. Really close (walking distance) from Devil's Throat cave. The personnel was really friendly.

There was a sewer smell coming from the bathroom. Almost non-existing wi-fi.

The location and rooms ,we stayed in one of the cabins and they were very nice and clean and it is a great location if you want to visit most things in the area

Breakfast :- not a great choice and cold coffee from a flask

This is a fantastic place situated by the river inside the Trigrad canyon (zdrelo). You can hear the river run below your balcony and the views are spectacular. I had an apartment in one of the villas, which had modern hip decoration with elements of nature. If you want to go and see the Devil's throat cave and Jagodina cave and the surrounding natural landmarks this is one of the best places to stay.
