We loved the building and the village itself. It was a really old fashioned pub, without a bar but the real ale was excellent. We enjoyed the garden and the lovely attitude of the young staff.

A very recent reviewer mentioned the landlady made him/her feel like an inconvenience. We felt the same way. We ate at the pub, delicious fish for one of us, not such good tagliatelle for the other. When she asked us about the food, we praised the fish dish and politely mentioned our disappointment with the pasta. The landlady's response was that no-one else had been disappointed and she seemed annoyed. From then on, despite our best efforts she remained polite but ice cold! It is always difficult when asked for comments on food- we wished we had kept our views to ourselves. It was the only thing that marred a very pleasant stay.

We liked everything about our stay. We were upgraded to a lovely spacious room with a bright large bathroom. We arrived on a motorbike and were able to park our bike close to our room. We had a dinner and two breakfasts which were varied and plentiful. The brisket just melted in the mouth and the desserts were to die for! The Inn is very old and quirky with lots of little snugs. The owners and the staff were so helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The village is interesting with a lovely church and informative museum. The locals are so friendly and everyone stops to talk! We were lucky that the monthly market was on when we were there.

Nothing not to like.

Traditional Inn. This beautifully kept, thatched inn, with real fire and cozy rooms has an old tap room at the back. The food is simple but delicious and fairly priced. Service excellent. It’s a must visit if you are in Suffolk. We went and stayed in the accommodation for my husband’s birthday. It’s his favourite pub in the world! Last time we stayed (2014) the room was freezing but there has been a refurb since then.

The room, which was one of three in the annex, was clean, comfortable and cosy. The food was excellent. The choices on the menu for the evening meal was varied and would cater for all tastes. It would be worth reserving a table for an evening meal. This old coaching inn is like stepping back in time with small rooms, an open fire, and very sociable. There isn't a bar but a tap room with a fine selection of good quality beers. The owners and the staff were all brilliant and welcoming.

It was great! Nothing needed.

The rooms are away from the pub so are nice and quiet. Plenty of private parking. Our room had the ability to become a family suite which was very clever. The bathroom and shower were excellent as were the complimentary soaps and shower gels etc. Beautifully decorated and fresh.

The wardrobe unfortunately was actually a cupboard of shelves and despite a hanging rail there was not enough height to even hang a ladies blouse. A little problematic when you have a couple of pressed dresses and shirts to keep from getting crumpled. There were no other hanging hooks in the room or bathroom. I did mention it and they promised to rectify it. Also the shower gel over the bath is fixed in place which I quite understand but if you have a bath you can’t reach the bottle at all !!!

Wonderful pub with wonderful food and beer (hubby was happy). Quality local ingredients used for restaurant menu and breakfast! The room was very clean, and of high quality, but a little small. The area is stunning and I would recommend this property.

BUT, I felt the breakfast menu was a bit limited and you had to have either cooked OR yogurt OR cereal. And whatever you do...don't ask for a second glass of cranberry juice....I thought the host was going to expire at my table when I asked! Seriously though, she so wanted to say no, but managed to bite her tongue and bring me one....but not very gracefully. I wouldn't mind, but the rooms were £120/night so not budget, and I felt pretty aggrieved that I was made to feel 'greedy' for asking for a second glass (which was absolutely tiny anyway).

The pub itself is like something out of a Dickens novel. A real novelty and all genuinly old. The bed was the best I've ever slept in away from home. The bar.... well, there isn't one, a room full of barrels to choose from.

The TV could have been a little bigger for the distance from the bed, I couldn't read subtitles for example. Oh, and the toast... too crunchy, I was afraid I'd bust a tooth! (Gave it to my wife though, so it wasn't wasted).

What a wonderful find. The accommodation was just off the courtyard and was lovely. Spacious, super comfortable bed, clean and had tea & coffee making facilities along with a little fridge. We had an evening meal and breakfast there which were both superb. Staff were very friendly and the pub was charming with a real atmosphere. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to explore Laxfield but this just gives us an excuse to return!

The bedroom was airy, with good facilities and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was made to order and excellent. The food at the pub is of a high standard and extremely good value. There are also very good wines, reasonably priced, to accompany the food. The local beers served from the Tap room are excellent and especially good value. The beer garden is simply superb, being large, extremely well kept, and with an excellent Pizza option from a wood fired Pizza oven. It's hard to imagine staying somewhere better.

A beautiful property oozing with character . We stayed in a ground floor bedroom with its own entrance . The room was spacious and beautifully decorated in a French style. Very comfortable bed and a big bathroom . Tea and coffee facilities were also provided . We dined at the property and the food was lovely, well cooked and presented. Breakfast was also delicious with good quality ingredients . Thank you for a lovely stay .
