The location is fabulous, the chef for breakfast was so respectful, the food was fair.

The only thing is I had to get the stairs till the 3rd floor. It’s hard if you’ve luggages.

Amazing seaveiw, fab for people, bird, boat & crazy swimmer watching. To awaken & the room to be flooded orange with the dawning of the sun. Friendly & hard working staff. Best breakfast with good quality ingredients, the bacon is lush. All served in a fresh, modern dining room. Always hot water in shower. We have stayed several times & will stay again.

The hotel is undergoing extensive renovation, but we were not disturbed by any noise during our stay. Some things do need updating: the bed in our room had seen better days, the huge pub style toilet roll holder needs removing as it gets in the way & isn't in use. I suppose this will all be sorted in the renovations. More towel rails, hooks & coathangers please.

I liked that the location was great for accessing the Seafront + Promenade + scenery + within easy reach of Spanish City + the facilities, such as Cafes, + a few shops and the main High St in Whitley Bay. As I arrived by National Rail + the Metro it was easy to get to from there by taxi + on foot for visits to surrounding places + back into Newcastle. The reception was welcoming + easily accessible, the room I stayed in was clean + comfortable, the Owners + reception staff friendly + the breakfasts great,+ tasty and plenty!

There really wasn't anything I could say I didn't like, just had some issues climbing the main staircase as I was on crutches, but I did get help with my additional bag +shown where my room was, + where to go for breakfast + told about times breakfast would be. I really enjoyed my stay overall + would recommend it to friends + family.

Room was cosy and comfy with a separate bathroom as well as tea & coffee facilities and a TV. Hotel was right on the seafront with gorgeous views of the ocean (and the splendid full moon we had on Wednesday night!) and was a short walking distance from a Co-op and a Sainsbury's for anything you might need. Spanish City is just around the corner and that's well worth a look (Especially after sunset and everything is lit up!). Staff were extremely friendly and you can come and go as you please at any hour as they have a night porter. Fisherman's Bay Chippie is just a few houses down and does excellent Battered Sausage and chips. It was lush waking up and sitting on the promenade outside to see folks walking dogs and the sea swimmers going in for a dip and watching the Sea. Would definitely come back - thank you for having me x

Nothing at all - renovations were still ongoing whilst I was there (No disturbance at all) but I know it'll be even better when I visit next. Keep up the great work guys <3

The Royal Hotel is in a very central location within Whitley Bay. Not too far from any of the attractions to walk and with good transport to Tynemouth very close. The hotel is also very comfortable with friendly staff. The sea view rooms are awesome. Nothing better than waking up to the sound of the sea and with all sea view rooms having an unobstructed direct view of the promenade and sea I could sit and watch for hours.

I was a shame that renovation was going on during the stay but it was not something that intruded on us. I would have preferred one of the bay window sea views but as these were under renovation I completely understand. I spoke with the staff at the hotel and the plans for the end of the renovation sound amazing so I am actually looking forward to staying again once they finish. My one suggestion would have been to have the ability to switch the lights off in the room a little more independently. The dividing wall in the family room is an excellent addition but it would be nice to be able to switch the lights off for the single bed and keep it on for the double. There are bedside lamps of course so maybe I am just being picky for the sake of it 🤣

The property is currently undergoing extensive renovations, but we were advised of this prior to our arrival. The only impact this had on our stay was the booked sea-view room was not available but we were given a sea-view family room on the second floor. The room was clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked, with very attentive staff in attendance. All the staff we encountered during our stay were very polite and most helpful. There were excellent restaurants very close to the property [Indian, Turkish, Italian, Gourmet & fish and chips]

The stairs!

The Royal is a traditional, civilised hotel, and it seems to attract guests who are the same way because there were no problems with noise at all.The price I paid was very good for a bank holiday weekend, especially as a generous breakfast is included. (I was impressed that they had gluten-free toast.) My room was a decent size for a single room and had proper wooden furniture. The location is great, right on the seafront and only a short walk from everything. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Oh, and the shower worked perfectly, something I no longer take for granted in hotels.

The lighting in the room could be better. I really appreciated having a table and a chair but it was hard to use the table as a desk because it was so gloomy in that corner of the room.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them. The room was a fantastic size and had everything that we needed for our stay. The views over the sea were beautiful. We had our 11 week old with us (and everything that comes along with an 11 week old), and the room had ample space for everything we had with us

The breakfast buffet was nice, but I would always prefer a freshly cooked breakfast. There were little bits of cleanliness that could have been improved, but overall, it was very clean

Excellent value for money! Wonderful location across the road from the bay. The room was clean and a good size with everything you need for a short stay. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was superb, especially the sausages which were very tasty. The single rooms were at the back of the property so the only view was the resident pigeons on the roof tops who give you an early morning chorus but living in the countryside, I am used to this. We were lucky to park outside the hotel 3 out of 4 days. Day 4, we were later returning after visiting the Beamish Museum (excellent!) and parked at the Beefeater which is free after 6pm until 10am. Lovely part of the country with a superb coastline with lots to see and do. Fish & Chips at the Fishermans bay which is in walking distance, was wonderful.

The mattress was very thin and you could feel the springs every time you moved. It really could do with changing although after the first night, I slept like a log after busy days and sea air. A soap dish in the shower would make life easier. Just little quirks although the positives more than outweighed these minor issues.
