What a lovely little guest house, my daughter and I stayed for a couple of nights. She was really excited when we walked in the room, lots of attention to detail and nicely designed, she loved it. The room was very clean with a nice comfy bed. Although breakfast wasn't provided, it really wasn't a problem as there are plenty of places to eat close by. I'd highly recommend Cafe Ross for a fried breakfast, which is only a few minutes walk away from the guest house. Although it is self check-in and key collection we did bump into one of the owners Nisha, who was lovely and very helpful when we wanted to store our luggage after checking out. The guest house is in a great location, only a five minute walk from the metro station, if you're traveling in by train and a 10 minute walk down to the beachfront. If we visit South Shields again we would definitely stay at Elmswood again.

Nisha, the host went over and above of what was required. I arrived at Newcastle airport on the tail end of storm Babet and found the Metro system badly disrupted as a result. When the train eventually arrived the service terminated at Bede where there was no replacement bus service and all taxi telephone lines were permanently engaged. It was a dark and wet night 🥶and two fellow travellers ,who I met during the journey, and I were stranded. In desperation I phoned Nisha to enquire if she could think of any alternative modes of travel to get us to South Shields, well dear reader Nisha came and rescued us! When we eventually arrived at Elmswood Nisha ensured that I was warm enough and that I had everything I needed which indeed I had. My stay in Elmswood was thoroughly enjoyable and I loved my little, cosy room.

.As its very difficult to find a B&B where breakfast is served, plus breakfast recommendations from host proved rather bleak (Morrisons) not value for money. However enjoyed stay, shame there's not access to a microwave, toaster..in perhaps a small kitchen area as it rained severely (most days) during my stay and had to venture out to for some thing to eat. I liked the location, and was a pleasant room. I'd certainly stay again. ® Recommended D

As soon as we walked in the guest house the beautiful smell hit us, as if we were walking in to a spa,. Our room was beautifully decorated and was immaculately clean, the high quality pillows and duvet were very comfortable as well as the mattress. We had room 3 so it was lovely to sit with a coffee in the bay window and people watch. The host was so friendly and helpful, she even carried my very heavy suitcase up two flights of stairs to our room.

Nothing, can't fault the guest house and the hosts.

Room very tight and kept banging my thigh on bottom corner pillar of bed. Slight problem with check-in as I booked same morning and it should not have let me. Owner helpful by giving me key code. Coffee and sugar but no milk sachets Never met owners, but no big deal.

Beautiful guest house within a few minutes walk of the Pleasure Beach and seafront. The room was very pleasant, well-equipped, clean, and modern. Check-in was very easy with the lock box. I would stay again.

I loved everything. The property was lovely . The room was fantastically clean comfortable and cosy. The price was absolutely excellent value for everything you would want from a weekend away

The guest house was spotlessly clean to an exceptionally high standard. Although the bathroom was small the bedroom was a good size. At the moment they don't offer breakfast but a short walk to food places and shops.

The room was a little warm but if you opened the window was quite noisy from traffic. It was also pot luck to find a car parking spot within a short walk of the guest house.

Amazing little gem guest house. Lovely host. We could recommend this stay to anyone. So clean and nicely decorated. Parking on the road right outside, and we had no problems finding a space. Easy to walk to the beach in just a few minutes. Near to a lovely park. Plenty of places to walk dogs too.

The only downside was no breakfast, but I had contacted Nisha prior to my visit. So I knew there was no breakfast available. My room was beautiful, modern, lovely colours and nice cushions and throws. Lots of towels to use in room.

I can’t think of anything. I genuinely had a lovely stay at Elmswood B and B.
