The Hotel is in a beautiful building, the reception, bar/dining area are all very nicely presented. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room I had was at the back, so quiet, spacious and easy to access with a roller case. I liked my room, the ensuite bathroom especially seemed up-to-date. The staff were very attentive when I dined alone. The fish was beautiful. The custard tart was amazing.

Other reviews have said that the decor is a bit tired, but it does seem to be a work in progress. I could see what they meant in the corridors, but that has to be the last priority for the Hotel. If you had a front facing room it might be a bit noisy, since it faces a busy road and junction. I found the mattress uncomfortable, too hard for my old hips. I appreciate some people like a firm mattress though. I chose Sea Bass off the menu , which was beautifully done, but the accompanying vegetables had been deep fried, which was not to my taste.

Ample free parking, good value for money, clean and comfortable. Good sized room, had everything needed although some biscuits on the tea tray would have been appreciated.

We have stayed before, the staff were Friendly and accommodating but seemed understaffed ( rushing around having to do multiple roles). The whole place needs updating especially the corridors with some attention also needed in bedroom. We declined breakfast at over £15 each. This hotel works for us visiting family in the area but don't think I'd choose for a special occasion or a holiday. Just a few changes could make such a difference!

Customer service staff absolutely lovely, polite and helpful. Cleanliness very good so fresh and clean from walking into the hotel and the room we stayed in. Great location. Acsess to busses and beach within driving distance. Lovely linen to sleep in smelt so fresh and clean.

Not enough facilities in respect of no shampoo,no shower gel or bars off soap. Not enough tea and coffee provided in the room for the money you spend this could be improved. The bed is not comfy at all this could be improved /enhanced comfort with a memory foam//cushiony maattress topper.

April 2024

We booked this as a late getaway for Easter holiday. We were going to Cleethorpes but everything was full there so we found Millfields and it looked really nice as we like historic buildings. It said that Parking was limited but when we arrived it was lots of parking (almost too much so we almost thought it was something "wrong" with the place as it was this "empty" on a weekend in Easter holidays). We had booke two rooms in different bookings so didn't expect them to be close by each other but the very competent and lovely receptionist had caught on and booked us rooms at the end of a wing opposing each other with a private corridor (basically a suite). Very big rooms, nice and clean with nice bathrooms etc. The receptionist had enquired if we wanted to eat dinner at the hotel and when I didn't immediately answer she said "No worries, I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to go out to eat!" I interpreted that as the food wasn't maybe that nice... I asked for a menu to have a browse and as it looked quite interesting and well put together we decided to eat in...and whoa did we not regret that. The food was GREAT!. I had a bruschetta for starter followed by a duck breast and finally Eaton mess. Lovely and fresh bruschetta, the best cooked duck breast I've had outside my own kitchen ;-) Cooked like the French would, lovely an juicy and lots of flavour! The Eaton mess felt like it was picked directly from the garden with cream from the Jersey cow I could see through the window (metaphorically speaking). You can feel when the chef gives a toss when putting together a menu and cooking it and this was care and attention to detail from A through to those graphical letters at the end of the ASCII table. It say on their marketing material "Millfields is more than a hotel!".. Mostly that is salesman's crap with no meaning but not here.

Nothing.

It's a hotel is what it is

Can't criticise the hotel really just the inconsiderate guests, I was in room 22 downstairs as the hotel is old it has floorboards, two contractors arrived late at 12 midnight, one was in room 27 which was above me, he apparently was putting his cloths away crashing and banging draws and cupboards then sounded like he had the telly on load, by 2am still not asleep went to reception to complain the night manager went straight to the room to sort and apparently the guy had his mate in there who was staying in another room chatting away, was impressed how hotel manager sorted.

The room was spacious and comfortable, though we opened the window and turned the radiator off as it was very warm in there. Dinner was excellent - the £25 for two haddock and chips was superb and great value. The staff were all really friendly and worked very hard to make sure that everything was just right. Amazing that so few can achieve so much. Everyone seemed to be in all places at once!

Breakfast was pretty decent but £15 was a bit over the top for it, given how good value dinner was.

It was quirky: from walking past the squash courts (although you could avoid them!), to get to your room, to the funny window bay in the room. There was no cloney feeling like in some chains. The room was well appointed: I loved the bathroom with it’s good water pressure helping to run a bath swiftly. Everything was clean and the lighting was great - not that choice between Blackpool illumination bright, or fall over dim! Another big plus was usb sockets for charging so I could charge watch and phone overnight even though I’d forgotten my plug adapter. I ate in the restaurant - the food was amazing and they made a special sauce for me to cope with an intolerance. The biggest plus this hotel has is its staff. I met the front of house team leader, two of her daughters working there, and about four other staff members. All were unfailingly polite and friendly- it was like staying at a friend’s place in terms of welcome and care shown.

Nothing I can think of!

Beautiful hotel, it's the 2nd time we've stayed here and will be glad to come back. The staff are so lovely, the rooms a good size and clean, and the vegan breakfast is so good!

Our only problem, that's not really a problem is that there's no fridge in the room. We were there 2 nights each time we've stayed and had to store our milk in the bar fridge. But the staff were incredibly helpful with this.

The staff. They are all really friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble.

Some of the hotel is looking a bit tired but not enough to put me off. It's mainly the corridors. My bathroom had slight cracks in the sink and cistern. Having said that, I don't think I've ever visited an hotel that didn't have some slight damage etc so it didn't spoil my visit whatsoever.
