It's so cute! They clearly take pride in their renovated mid-century property and they've done an amazing job! Everything is super clean and all the fixtures are new. I love that the floors are -surface (not carpet) and the cedar ceilings make it feel cozy, since they're not white it helps you settle into sleep. Plus: The bathrooms have exhaust fans!! Essential when you're traveling with multiple people in one room 😉

Our only gripe was that the new mattresses are really really really firm--support is great, but maybe some nice, soft mattress pads could enhance the comfort? Our door didn't latch really great so we had to triple check that it locked when we were leaving.

This is the second time this year we have stayed at a motel instead of a hotel while traveling in Michigan. Both experiences have been very positive. The interaction with the owners was positive before during and after the stay. The design and décor updates were fun and bright and added character. We spoke with the owners in advance through booking.com's very effective messaging, and then later directly by text. They were ready willing and able to provide us with a room on the first level and directly adjoining a wheelchair space. This was wonderful as our younger son has special needs and disabilities. Being able to park right in front of our room in the wheelchair spot was a dream! The fun of being on a quick get away without any of the access issues we often have to navigate was a big bright spot. Thanks very much!

I can not say enough nice things about The Sierra Motel! I had to get my puppy out of tent camping on the last night of our vacation due to weather, and I found this place on Bring Fido. They were so accommodating, and let me check in early with no issue. The decor is stunning, and the rooms are quaint and cute. My pup and I felt super comfortable, and will definitely go back if we travel to TC again.

Charming ‘50’s motel with modern sensibility. Owner bought this old motel last year and completely refurbished it. He takes pride in maintaining the ‘50’s vibe (aqua fridge, yellow hair dryer 😀) while modernizing the bathroom, flooring, and welcomes suggestions. He also gave great recommendations on restaurants and ways to experience Traverse City.

This was an amazing place to stay! It was super clean and very convenient when going we were on our travels throughout Traverse City. The staff was kind and considerate! I love the decoration of the rooms and the water pressure was nice in the shower!

Rooms were totally redone in last year. Room was exceptionally clean. Everything worked well. Keurig coffee maker in room with name brand coffee. Owners were interacting with guests, very responsive to questions or requests. Extremely satisfied.

Super cute and clean. Owners were helpful and friendly. Love the renovations. We stayed here during the Cherry Festival. Doesn’t have a pool, didn’t need one. Highly recommend

Unfortunate that it’s on a busy road. Would have been nice to have windows open, but too noisy. Windows at back of room had storm windows, so couldn’t open.

clean, good location, room has its own entrance, lady checking us in was friendly and welcoming. Bed was comfortable and we slept well.

wi fi password not noted in the room or on receipt and office was closed since it was late evening. We failed to ask for password upon check in since it’s usually provided on room info posted in room. Not really a big deal, just slightly inconvenient.

I dug the nod to the past and the advancements to current day the owners have made. If you’re into modern/new everything, this isn’t your spot yet.

The mattress in room 114 should be updated. I felt my spouse’s every move.
