Small Boutique style hotel, nice modern, spacious and clean room overlooking the river next to the old town and a 10 minute walk to the centre. Great foe exploring Bilbao. There is a tram stop 1 minute walk away which takes you around the city. Staff were very nice and helpful. Nice bar/restaurant on the ground floor and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay there again.

We travel around Europe a lot and found it maybe little bit expensive but compared to what you can get in Bilbao if you are looking at higher end hotels it ticks all the boxes.

They have no parking on site and we had a car The parking space they reserve is súper far from the hotel and it is across the River where it doesn’t look very safe They give you the key to the car wash place where they rent a few parking spaces for their hotel guests and you have to go by yourself We arrived at night and there were some men in the area that looked a bit suspicious There is a lot of car traffic in front of the hotel You can’t even park the car briefly to bring down the luggage If you consider this hotel, make sure you are not driving

I recently stayed at the Tayko Hotel in Bilbao, and overall, it was a fantastic experience! The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable, and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, always going the extra mile to make my stay enjoyable. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the old town, making it easy to explore Bilbao's charm.

The only thing I would have changed about my stay was the mattress, as I personally prefer a firmer one. That said, this is a minor detail in an otherwise excellent experience.

A great location for the old town. Well designed public areas. The hotel had a good atmosphere. It has a sensible balance between a boutique/designer type feel but being very practical and user friendly. Very friendly staff. Nice ground floor bar and breakfast room ( restaurant later on). Rooms are well designed. Reasonable sized bathroom. The breakfasts were very good with a bit of variety over the four days we were there.

We really liked the hotel. If pushed to find a downside there could be more clothes storage space in the rooms ( a frequent issue). Also the bathroom sinks are shallow. Minor niggles only.

Beautiful hotel, very conveniently located at the border of the Casco Viejo in beautiful Bilbao. But what I’d like to mention in particular is the human factor. The staff is so warm, friendly and helpful. My mom had a little misadventure when she got robbed of her phone in a bar and a lady (whose name unfortunately I don’t know!) at the desk helped her and most of all consoled her in a very nice way. These are the kind of people you’d like to meet on your way. Thank you, we’ll be back!

Really nice spacious and light room overlooking the river. On 6th floor so also very quiet. We ate at the michelin star hotel restaurant which surpassed our expectations. Really was excellent even compared to other similar restaurants. Great location for the old town bars, restaurants, etc. Easy to walk along the river to the funicular or Guggenheim. Also massive and comfy bed Perfect stay!

There were some renovation works which meant the bar was shut some noise in the day but there were literally hundreds of bars nearby

We chose Bilbao for my milestone birthday and the choice of hotel proved perfect. Quite apart from this being the ideal location for seeing central Bilbao and all its attractions, including the wonderful Guggenheim Museum, and everything a realtively short walk away, The hotel itself is a very impressive building (the first concrete building in Bilbao) and the exposed concrete beams gave it real distinctiveness. The facilities were excellent and we could find no fault with anything. The reception staff were very welcoming and attentive - and I hugely appreciated the birthday greetings and gifts in our room. And, of course, the restaurants were excellent, especially Ola Martin Berasategui whose tasting menu was memorable, and extremely good value for a Michelin star restaurant (sadly, in London we have to pay ludicrous prices, and often for lower quality!) Finally, we discovered that there was a metro train station a few hundred yards from the hotel, so that we were able to take a welcome day trip to Guernika (and where Martin Berasategui's photo is displayed in the Basque Museum as one of the best chefs in the region ! ) So, altogether, a splendid stay - and certainly a destination for the near future !

Loved the hotel and the remarkable reno job. Great location on the edge of old town and right on the river walk. Check in went well despite some disagreement among staff about the ability to park short term in the pedestrian area. It is a little tricky finding the 'opening' to the street. Parking lot is indeed in sight of the hotel but not what you imagine by that statement.

Check out brought the start of the tipping culture prevalent in North America. Despite the assurance it is voluntary it still feels like extortion. Prefer Europe doesn't fall into this trap.

Helpful and pleasant staff. Comfy bed. Very quiet at night - wonderful! Relaxing bar area. Good location.

Booking.com invited us to upgrade for 5 euros, which we did, without realising that we were losing our breakfast booking! Not the hotel's fault (and they did their best to compensate us), but do really double-check upgrade offers before accepting them! Was the hotel a little 'over-designed'? Ie an emphasis on form over function?

The staff were absolutely wonderful - honestly, I cannot fault the service at all. They went above and beyond to help us during our stay. They were so friendly, so helpful and really are a credit to the hotel. We really enjoyed our time at Tayko. It's a beautiful, unique building, with modern touches as well as history. It's in a perfect Old Town location so you're near some great pintxos spots for the evening, and it's right on the river. The room was incredibly comfortable with great beds (I was with a friend, so we had twin beds) and balcony windows opening up onto the bustling street below (great soundproofing by the way - with them closed, it's not noisy!). We didn't eat at the hotel this time but there's a lovely bar at street level with some great wine choices.
