Great hotel! Comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathtub was excellent, very convenient. The room had heating, so if it was cold, we could turn it on. The location is excellent. We were lucky to have windows facing the inner courtyard, so it was quite quiet. I think if the windows face the outside, it might be very noisy on weekends because there are many cafes and people around the hotel. We arrived late and were able to check in ourselves as they sent us instructions. They also let us leave our backpacks until the evening on the day of departure, which was very convenient.

On the downside, unfortunately, I had poor internet. The reason was that the router didn’t reach our room well, and I only had one bar of signal.

Arena Suites Bilbao offers great apartments and rooms. Situated in the central part of Casco Viejo on a street with pintxos bars mostly attended by locals is a fantastic starting point in exploring Bilbao. My room had a view of the street which meant however that at night it was pretty lively. So if sound is an issue for you, bear that in mind. The staff was great in giving me an upgrade when I mentioned it would be ideal if I could use a fridge (my room did not come with a fridge). The apartment was very clean, newly refurbished with a full kitchen and area to hang clothing. The doors open to a French balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom was spacious and super clean and the building works with a code for the door of the building, a separate code for the floor your are staying and another code for you room. So super safe.

The building being one of the beautiful old buildings in the Casino Viejo neighbourhood does not have an elevator only pretty old stairs which means that with heavy luggage or if mobility is an issue it would not be a great fit.

Zazpikaleak/Casco Viejo was a great area especially if arriving late in the evening like we did. Restaurants nearby were open fairly late and had good reviews. Cafes were near for the next morning too. Also Escaleras de Solokoetxe was on the same street as Arenal Suites. Plaza Nuevo was a short walk and we loved it immensely. Great price for the area, we were very happy! And the hotel, the room itself, and bathroom were all upgraded!

The description for our room did not mention that the 2 windows overlook basically an interior, open-air chute. I think that could have soften the surprise but otherwise we were super satisfied.

Everything was good, the room was spacious with big and nice shower, we had two little balconies (closed and open good for the rainy Bilbao :D For the short stay its perfect.

We personally did not suffer too much the stairs, as we got apartment on 1st floor, but this needs to be taken in consideration if you have a lot of luggage it will be a challenge to get it up the stairs as there is no elevator, but building is old and stairs are beautiful, understandable why there is no elevator.

Lovely clean bedroom/en suite, felt very safe, friendly and helpful staff and fantastic location

The only thing that I did not like was the noise of the crowds during the evenings/nighttime on the street below. It’s understandable because the room faced a busy/popular street, however, I would have preferred a room that was towards the rear of the building/away from the street. Also a kettle and a mug would have been a nice touch :)

The rooms are newly renovated, so everything is clean, fresh and in a good condition. E.g. I enjoyed the rain shower the room had.

The room was quite noisy. You could hear other hotel guests quite well. Furthermore, our room was situated on the inside, adjacent to a small courtyard (nothing special), but this made the room very dark even during the day. On the positive side, it makes it cooler and easier to sleep in the room.

Great location and facing the courtyard made the room very quiet. Modern and functional room. Very clean and with all the necessary amenities.

One of the receptionist understood English but she was only replying in Spanish and not making any effort to speak English. Fortunately I am Italian and I could understand some Spanish, but English should be spoken by a receptionist.

Location couldn't be much better. The Casco Viejo area is full of pintxos bars and ideal for a couple of hours visiting as many as you can. Bilbao is close to the Rioja wine region and so the bars have excellent wine as well as food. The hotel is right in the middle of it and there are a number of excellent bars just outside of the front door (don't worry, the rooms are very quiet). I liked the fact that entry to the hotel and rooms is via a code so no carrying keys around.

Excellent value for money. Bed was very comfortable. Bed linens were very clean. Room was clean everyday. The room was very well decorated. There is a hairdryer , and some toiletries as well. TV had English channels like Bloomberg , CNBC

The status may not be suitable for people with walking problem. There is no fridge in the room.

Very clean, modern, and comfortable room with lots of natural light. The staff was very friendly as well!

It can get a bit noisy since there are a lot of restaurants and bars on the street. But the windows are new and isolate the noise quite well, so if you close them at night you can sleep well.
