Fairly central location, tram stop is 1 minute away and cost 2 euros into Ghent, secure car parking but possibly only for 3 to 4 cars, breakfast was typical but really nice, lovely old building with lots of original features, receptionist was really helpful, a kettle in the room is so useful too, two pillows that are really soft meant a great nights sleep
We were on the 3rd floor, room 3D, and no lift so we decided to leave our luggage in the car, 6 flights of stairs are no fun when youre tired after a long journey but thats what happens in these old buildings so im not complaining The shower cubicle is ancient and definately needs replacing, and the shower tray is incredibly slippery and we just avoided falling, so a rubber shower mat is essential, we have one at home for exactly this reason

This was a formal baronial palace converted to a hotel, obviously the splendid decorations, the room sized well reflected those. The location was perfect, the tram and bus stops were almost in the front. This was just in the right place, the tourist attractions were in walking distance yet, there were no disturbances by busy crowd and the nights were quiet. The only problem was the internet, which time to time was good but other time was very erratic and unreliable. The breakfast service in my opinion was excellent, there were many very healthy, yet good tasting selection, wonderful coffee machine. All the staff who worked there were excellent, helpful, speak excellent English.
The only issue was the internet connection, just as I wrote above. Additionally a small refrigerator could have been a good aid for comfort.

The decor makes the hotel stand out from the normal hotels. The staff made the stay and could not be more helpful. Breakfast choice was fantastic. Great location for the city centre and tram stop a short walk away.
Some of the areas look a little tired. We went in December for the Xmas markets but there was no Xmas atmosphere in the hotel.

The location is superb, breakfast & staff were superb. My husband & I love the quaintness of this hotel it is like stepping back in time.
However, our room was very tired - all it would need is a fresh coat of paint on the walls. I understand the decore is supposed to be a shabby chic. However, there were stains on the walls by the bed. Also, the floor creaked - it made my husband & I nervous about walking about our room as we didn't want to disturb the people in the room below.

This hotel is perfectly located to wander into the city for exploring. We requested a parking space and this was in the private garage (additional charge) which meant the rental car was secure for the night. Breakfast was gorgeous (including our first taste of "cuberdons") and staff were friendly.
"Shabby chic" in its decor, the property had real charm - but no lift to carry our heavy cases up the stairs (and we were on the top floor!).

Beautiful hotel, comfy bed, excellent quality of breakfast, lovely staff. Fabulous location.
All minor issues which would not stop me from staying again: Lack of heating in communal area (no lounge only hall which was beautiful but freezing). Breakfast items often ran out and had to ask for top ups of many items, water not replaced in room, musty smell in bedroom (loft room).

Very charming former house, lovely charming architectural features. Rooms are very large, and bed was really cozy. Rooms were clean and beds made up each day. Good selection at breakfast in fine rooms. Staff really helpful and accommodating. Excellent location on the outskirts of Gent, but really close to a tram stop. 10 min ride at most to the old part of the city.
The building is very old - as expected, but maybe requires some TLC to see it through for future generations.

Hotel certainly had a certain charm as did the young staff. It gave a good idea of a gracious Ghent town house in its past Good safe parking. Good breakfast. Quiet, convenient location. Easy walk into centre or regular tram service if feeling too tired or too hot to walk - especially returning after a long day in the city! Pleasant public rooms.
Our room had very obviously been smoked in. Our clothes reeked of smoke for days after we had left. Hotel had charm but well past its prime. More faded and jaded than shabby chic especially on 3rd floor. Carpets on stairs not vacuumed while we were there. Lighting poor on staircase. No aircon but we knew that when we booked - but not that we would be there in the middle of a heatwave! Sorry to be so negative but we felt thay unless a goodly sum is spent on it soon it would completely lose its undoubted charm and therefore its high ratings. No staff in- house at night.⁰

Whilst not for everyone, this place is utterly charming and we received a great welcome from a very helpful lady on the desk. Fantastic breakfast and easy access to the city centre. We would happily recommend and stay again. The detailed carvings and beautiful interior was right up our street.

Very interesting hotel building with character. Easy to walk to the centre of Ghent from the hotel (which is full of fabulous medieval buildings). We had a deluxe room and it was very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Staff friendly. They were able to arrange private parking for our car but have only a small number of such spaces so book in advance.
Quite a lot of stairs up to bedroom (floors have high ceilings). No air conditioning or fridge in room. No cafes or supermarkets super close to hotel (so best to have hotel breakfast).
