1) The HOTEL is beautiful. Very clean, beautiful garden and pools. We were stunned at how lovely the place was, better than pics. Lots of seating in the garden/outdoor bar/pool loungers. Perfect for a warm sunny day. Their spa and heated pool, looked great though we didn't use any. 2) STAFF was very good. Specifically Fabiano/Fabrizio, I suck at names :(, the young man we met every day at the restaurant, and another young lady (again my brain doesn't rem her name), were so charming. Ricardo at reception and the lady we met at check out were both good too. There was one older blonde-haired lady in the restaurant who was a bit rude once but whatever. The young staff was so good. 3) RESTAURANT - Classy place where people dress up a bit for dinner. We didn't. The breakfast was great, with good variety but no eggs made to order or fresh toast (they didn't have a toaster which was a first for me). They do have the packaged rusk/toast thing so I guess it's a cultural thing. A nice variety of bread and scrambled eggs made it up for me. Good fruit too. The dinners were fantastic. They have a set menu with some options. We ate there all 3 nights and loved it. Service again faultless. Do try some of the Sudtirolean wine they have. 4) ROOM - we had the base room and it was a bit cramped and the bath was tight too. It had a lovely balcony towards the back of the hotel, still had a great view of the mountains. I guess go for the next level room if you like a bit of room and it's in your budget. Since we were going to spend most of our day hiking we didn't mind it. Did feel a bit cramped when we got back in the evenings. Overall, it's a beautiful place with excellent service. You will enjoy your stay here as we did. P.S. LOVED the homemade apricot jam they gifted us at checkout! P.P.S. They have free parking.

1) No Toaster. Who doesn't like hot toast with butter? Please get one. 2) Size of basic room. Some more space would make me feel better about spending 470 Euros per night.

This is an amazing hotel walking distance from the town centre and gondola. From the moment we checked in until we checked out we were taken care of by amazing staff who delighted in making our time in Ortisei memorable in every way. From the front desk, dining, lounge, wellness centre and room staff nothing was too much trouble. The dining experience was lovely and watching the staff speak multiple languages as they moved between their guests made it such a warm and caring environment. A lovely touch is 'tea time' every afternoon where all the guests gather in the lounge for afternoon tea and enjoy a beautiful selection of home cooked goods from the kitchen. Another highlight was the evening you roasted chestnuts in the courtyard for us all. You have a way of bringing guests together which creates a wonderful warm atmosphere. Well done Angelo Engel your staff are your best asset! We will definitely be back one day.

Delicious breakfast and great variety--home baked items and very fresh. Cozy bar area with fantastic apertivo and cocktails. Incredible dinners. Lovely spa and relaxation areas. Spa treatments were some of the best we've had. Ski room was super convenient and transportation to gondola was also convenient and easy. Ski guide was extremely knowledgable and friendly. We could go on and on...stayed for 7 days and did not want to leave! All staff are incredible!

We loved this hotel and its location in Ortisei. We could easily walk to everything including the Secede and Seiser Ali lifts. Our balcony had a beautiful view of the mountains and although compact, the room was very efficiently laid out. The staff was wonderful, the food was terrific and the garden, pool and spa fantastic. Our half-board included buffet breakfast, snacks at 16:00 and dinner with multiple selections each evening.

Good location, nice grounds lovely pool and spa facilities. Pleasant staff with organized bike rides and hikes.

We had a room facing the street which was less scenic and noisier if you have the windows open. Be sure to ask for a room facing the other side overlooking the lawn and pool. Also, avoid 207 and 307 as their balconies are small (in addition to overlooking the busy road into town).

Beautiful hotel with a comfortable room and large, beautiful bathroom. The services on site were fantastic. We had a lovely apertivo in the gorgeous bar, we took a guided hike in the mountains above the hotel, and enjoyed a wine tastings of local offerings with a sommelier. The pool and sauna were so relaxing and wonderful. Breakfast had an amazing array of offerings. The hotel is an easy walk into the central town, and also an easy walk to the Seceda gondola.

Angelo Engel was our favourite hotel out of all of the places we stayed during our honeymoon. The entire place has incredible charm, having been kept in and managed by the same family for 4 generations. We only spent 3 nights there, but the staff knew us and made us feel very welcome. The buffet breakfast was truly exceptional - with an array of different jams and honeys, cold cuts, breads, and hot offerings - and some of the best filter coffee I have ever had. Dinner was equally as impressive, with 5 courses on the menu, excellent service, and assigned seating; the whole affair made us feel very special. Facilities are excellent, with a very relaxing sauna and spa area to be enjoyed and a large heated pool.

These misgivings are nitpicky and did not mar the overall experience: The room and bathroom were a tiny bit dated compared to more modern offerings. The gym is a little small and dated. Sauna / steam room hours are not the most flexible (closed for the better part of the day).

Angelo Engel hotel is absolutely amazing. From the comfort of the rooms to the excellent pool (indoor and outdoor), from the variety of options both in breakfast and dinner and also the quality of the food to the very professional and warm staff, everything was excellent. If you are thinking about staying in this hotel, do not think twice and book it!

Clean, bright and airy hotel with an excellent location in the centre of town. Superb good sized swimming pool which was heated, that made all the difference for us. Efficient and mostly friendly staff who worked hard. Nice dinning room. We ate at the hotel for seven nights and overall the food was very good although some of the main courses were a little bland and the starter buffet was average. Overall a most enjoyable stay.

The hotel is not a member of the Val Gardena Active Program, so if you are a non skier and want to try a cookery class, E-Bike ride, guided snowshoe walk, art and crafts events etc etc, then it's going to cost you a lot of money. We were surprised by that. Perhaps a better salad buffet with the evening meal.

We loved the location of this hotel – right next to downtown and walking distance to the main lifts. Our room was wonderful too, with an enormous balcony (perfect for sunbathing or drying clothes). And the daily complimentary snacks (fresh fruit, etc) and sauna/pool area were great amenities. Feels like a spa resort just minutes from downtown.

No complaints here! We had a perfect stay. However, we didn't eat at the restaurant so can't speak to the food here.
