Roberto was such a great host! The room was exceptionally clean, and fully stocked with snacks & drinks & a great coffee maker! Probably the best pistachio croissant I’ve ever had was delivered right outside my door every morning (he also had several different croissant options to choose from). I’ve seriously been thinking about it everyday since. Centrally located, only a few minutes away from the center. I would absolutely stay here again.

A few flight of stairs and no elevator/lift. It wasn’t an issue for my mother or myself but might not be ideal if you have mobility issues.

B&B Il Viaggio is a small suite of rooms in a lovely old property on the eastern side of the old town. We had the Sud (South) room, and it was everything we needed, small but perfectly formed, with good air con (you'll need it when the city heats up over the summer), modern bathroom and comfortable bed. There is decent Wi-Fi, nice wooden shutters, and a small breakfast table where you can enjoy the taste sensation (and calorific battering ram) of the unbelievable pastries delivered fresh each morning. Nothing is that far away that you can't walk to it and, if you haven't been, Bologna is an absolute stunner of a city. Roberto, the host, is such a lovely chap, and always happy to help arrange and advise. Definitely one to go back to.

A decent waste bin in the kitchenette area (separate from the recycling bins) is literally about the only thing I can think of.

This was a really great place to stay in Bologna. Roberto couldn't have been more helpful and had thought of everything to make our stay really lovely.It is only a short walk to eating places and the central Piazza Maggiore. Communication was really good and Roberto was very helpful with early check in and keeping our cases.He also booked our taxi to the airport. We would definitely return.

This is not something that was a problem for us but the property is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift.Roberto insisted on carrying both our cases up the stairs and back down when we were leaving .Very thoughtful.

Everything! Located on the eastern edge of the city, Roberto’s place is a short 15 minute walk into the city centre. Our room was large, comfy and very well equipped. The aircon was welcome on a warm day, the breakfast basket was a lovely treat and the property itself was nice and quiet, despite being near a busy road. From the moment we met, Roberto’s hospitality was incredible. He helped us with our luggage, took our order for breakfast the following morning, gave us a map with lots of incredible local recommendations for dinner and was responsive on WhatsApp if we needed anything. He also helped us book a taxi to Bologna station on the morning of our departure, got us pastries for our onward journey, and stayed with us until the car arrived to ensure we left safely. Would love to return soon and stay at this lovely spot again, and would recommend to anyone looking to visit Bologna - Grazie Mille Roberto!

There’s no lift up to the 3rd floor which was fine, but may be harder for some people to access

Everything was great from the moment Roberto contacted us about our upcoming stay. Very good communication and super service oriented. When we arrived at the B&B we felt like we arrived at home. There was warm vibe, our room had all necessities needed for a few days stay, the little kitchen was well equipped and had great choice of coffee, fruits, dairy products. The breakfast was absolutely great: Roberto brought us the most delicious freshly baked pastries. The room was super clean and bed was really comfi. On my next stay in Bologna, I will definitely stay there again. Recommend this place without any doubts!

Roberto is a really nice host. He organized everything very well and was uncomplicated. The room is nice, clean and invitingly furnished. The location is very good, right in the center. Another plus point is the parking space! In the morning you get fresh croissants :-) There are also yogurt, fruits, juices and milk waiting in the fridge every day, and of course coffee too - overall a very nice stay for us and we are happy to recommend!

We loved our stay here, Roberto was the perfect host, friendly helpful kind and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. He even showed us pictures of various pastries we could order for breakfast that were delivered each morning 🤩 Our room was immaculate, spacious and the kitchen was an added bonus which Roberto stocked with delicious snacks, drinks and fruit. The blueberry juice was delicious. Our room was cleaned each day. Air con was good, bed was comfy, Wi-Fi worked well. We travelled by train and it was easy to get a taxi from the station, Roberto was very helpful with this and met us at the b&b. He recommended places to visit. Thankyou Roberto for the most fantastic stay, I would highly recommend and would be my first choice if visiting Bologna again.

As other reviews have stated there are three flights of stairs to manage however Roberto helps with luggage which we greatly appreciated. I would not let this put you off staying here, it is the most wonderful place to stay.

This is a beautifully run B&B and Roberto is an excellent host - so thoughtful and helpful. The room was very comfortable, especially the bed, and there was a wonderful selection of tea, coffee, fresh fruit etc in the little kitchen unit to enjoy at any time. The fresh croissants every morning were an added treat! The location is excellent, at the end of the porticoed via San Vietale which leads to the very heart of the city. We would highly recommend!

The building is lovely but there's no lift up to the 3rd floor - which was fine for us but may not suit everyone.

We loved the Il Viaggio and would love to stay there again when we visit Bologna! Starting with the location, it is very good. Not exactly in the center of the old city but only a walk of around 10 minutes. This is also a very interesting walk to get the feeling of the bustling city. The room is very comfortable and you feel like someone is actually living there or has put some thought into the design and decoration. Same goes for the bathroom, which is quite huge, and the kitchen, which is fully equipped. The fridge and the kitchen were full of things to eat and drink and the host also took our order and brought croissants in the morning.

One thing worth noting is that there is no elevator and it is on the 3rd floor, just keep this in mind in case of e.g. mobility issues. Our neighbors were a little loud, but this isn't the fault of the host.

Everything! Roberto was a perfect host, extremely helpful. The room was very clean. The bed extremely comfortable, and Roberta went out of his way to provide wonderful treats.!! Everything you can imagine for breakfast fresh fruit, yogurt, milk, cereal, and delicious fresh croissants!!

The only issue is there are lots of stairs, but Roberto helped with our luggage so he made it very easy!
