The Schwabenwirt is a 3-star hotel that surpasses the quality of many 4-star hotels. As a frequent traveler who has stayed in numerous 3-star establishments, I can attest that very few have matched the level of service and room quality offered at Schwabenwirt. The hotel staff greeted us with enthusiasm and positive energy, readily assisting with any inquiries before and during our stay to ensure our satisfaction. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the balcony, and the soothing sound of the nearby river contributed to peaceful nights of sleep. Breakfast met the expectations of a 3-star hotel, offering a delicious and satisfying spread. No complaints there. The location is ideal for travelers arriving by train, with a main bus station conveniently located in front of the train station. Plenty of buses are available to transport travelers to key attractions in Berchtesgaden and Ramsau. If I return to Berchtesgaden, there's no doubt I'll choose to stay at the Schwabenwirt again. We dined at the hotel restaurant, and to our surprise, the food was excellent. It was so good that we decided to return for dinner the following evening. We noticed several locals dining at the Schwabenwirt's restaurant, indicating its popularity among residents. When locals choose a restaurant, you can't go wrong following their lead.

Super location to Eagle Nest n Königssee. Good breakfast, spacious room, free parking.

The pillows are too soft. The hanging stick in wardrobe fell down but not fixed (I’ve reported). No water kettle, no fans ( it’s warm in the room).

Room 308 was perfect, lovely big room, bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was great with big variety, couldn't ask for any better. Email requests were answered straight away, fans for all rooms as hotel does not have air-con and twin beds in another, all requests were fulfilled. Location was brilliant, across the road from train/bus station and only a 15 min walk to center of town.

Room 308 - really being picky now but Nowhere to hang hand towels, two small hooks at side of hand basin would solve this and could also put one on back of door. Pillows could be better, too small/soft. Fridge did not work no matter what setting I put it on. Room 222- single room, again need hooks in bathroom and nowhere to put toiletries, needs a shelf. Looks like the wardrobe was moved but the mirror on the wall was not so the wardrobe is in front of mirror blocking it.

Great location..very clean and comfortable. Great food served at breakfast and in the restaurant for dinner. Our room had a great balcony and view. In general all the staff were very friendly and attentive most of the time. Reception provided us with a fan for our room which was great as it was really needed.

Our room was a little dated and small with very old style carpet compared to others in our group in really large and modern rooms in the same price category. Our double bed was simply 2 single bed frames pushed together - as is standard in Germany, but the bed frames left a large gap between mattresses. Our shower head was broken which we informed reception about on 3 of our 5 days there and nothing was done about it..so we simply stopped asking for a fix.

Great location very close to restaurants, grocery store, and main bus/train station. Loved the guest card that gave free public transportation to the main sites and trail heads. Lots of information about the area available im the lobby. Excellent breakfast. Hotel restaurant and Biergarten also very good. We were a couple, but would also be wonderful for families.

With no a/c, I expected to see a fan im the room. In fairness, I did not ask for one, but in summer just thought there would be something to help air out the room in the afternoon. Parking was free, but filled up quickly. Not certain of any alternatives nearby if one were to miss an opportunity to park. We just used the bus and walked so we wouldn’t lose our spot. Would still highly recommend hotel-these are minor issues.

The family room was extremely spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great too.

We would have preferred an earlier breakfast than 7:30 as we are early risers and would have liked to get on with our sightseeing.

This was the best stay of our trip! The hotel, though slightly older, was clean, well-maintained, and spacious, with a private balcony. The location was incredibly convenient, just steps away from the main train and bus stations, as well as a supermarket. The staff was very accommodating and responsive to our requests. The bed was soft and comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep each night for us. Our favorite part was the breakfast—there was a wide variety, and the pastries were delicious. We really wish we could stay in Berchtesgaden longer. 🥺

1. The location is really great where the bus HBF is only 2 minutes away from the hotel, and the markets like REWE and dm are within 3 minutes walk as well. Also, you can see mountain Watzmann from the hotel, making a wonderful experience. 2. The facility was clean and cozy, the mattress wasn’t too soft to sink. 3. They offer the guest card 4. Breakfast was good.

1. Check-in time was a bit delayed due to someone who didn’t finish pre-online check in, and we had to wait for him to do it at the counter, and unfortunately he was not familiar with using an iPad, making the progress very slow.

Beautiful hotel. Spotlessly clean throughout...I mean super clean. Has character and charm. Beautiful views of river right past hotel...crystal clear Bavarian mountain water. Scenic mountain views are awesome. Staff friendly. Rooms have high ceilings which make them feel so much more spacious. Walk in shower pristine and bathroom was big. We stayed in rm 2 ground floor...over looked river...Nice. location is 3 min walk from train/bus stop at roundabout. I can confirm no noise from traffic etc. Breakfast was generous and plentiful. Fresh coffee ground machines of high quality. We had tea one night after a long sightseeing day and it was really really good value, great portions and equal taste. Was so busy that only eating room was in the breakfast area...which had the views! I would safely say this hotel will get a visit in the future....apart from Edelweiss hotel which we ate in and watched Euro semi...I think to stay elsewhere might disappoint. Overall great hotel.

Hmmm....didn't have air con...but wasn't an issue really. It was beautifully hot weather ie clear blue skies for 3 days with some cloud on arrival and 1 heavy 1/2 hour downpour...which cleared the air....so air con wasn't an issue.

The decor exceeded my expectations. They were very accommodating when I arrived in the morning. Check in is later in the day. This is the first hotel where I've experienced a locked room for luggage storage. That gave me confidence. The location is perfect for hiking, with trails along the river and up the mountain right at the door. The historic train and bus station is a very walk across the round-about. Even a REWE grocery and a fabulous sports store are nearby. I was pleased.

The breakfast was adequate, but not stellar. I did enjoy the selections.
