I loved the fact that it was a heritage building, with lovely old interiors. Good central location too, walking distance from several points of interest. The room was fairly comfortable.
Given that the building is pretty old, the floorboards are understandably creaky. I was on the lower floor so it did get noisy at times with guests staying above me walking up and down their room. Voices travel too, and I could hear people conversing in the hallway. Thankfully the nights were by and large peaceful. Lastly, the two-shower system in the bathroom, while thoughtful, ends up being awkward to use given the placement of the overhead shower.

Beautiful heritage building close to downtown amenities and good bus connections. Staff all extremely friendly and accommodating. Bed and bathroom linens fresh and comfortable. Room cleaned and fresh towels and extras restocked daily. Continental breakfast was well tended and served in the lovely front parlour. Plus after check out they allowed me to spend a few extra hours in the parlour and computer room as my flight had been delayed several hours. Fresh water, coffee, hot water for tea or hot chocolate available all day until 9:30 PM.
The carpets in the rooms I was in are very worn and have a dirty appearance (removal of carpets and replacing with hard flooring would due a lot to spruce it up and make it feel cleaner). The inner lining of the shower curtains in the 2 rooms I stayed in over 4 days had soap residue and smelt yummy (likely had been on for a while).

The staff were very friendly, helpful, and hospitable! The location is on the edge of the downtown area, a short walk or bus ride to the harbour, so the neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet. If I remember correctly, the door is locked to the public after hours so I felt very safe during my late check in when staff let me in. The house is so pretty and charming in a homey grandmotherly way. The furnishings and styling was old but that added to the charm. It felt like I was staying in an old childhood bedroom! The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but it was nice to have an AC, a little kettle, coffee machine, and even mini fridge in the room, with my own bathtub and rain shower. I had a lovely bath after a long day. They even have a shared office area so you can print documents and browse the web if needed. The complimentary breakfast was well stocked with lots of options and the parlour is open all day with tea and coffee which I enjoyed after check out the next day.
The furnishings were a little old and the bed was not the most comfortable but that’s the style and the charm of the place.

Great Location. Walkable to where we needed to be. Nice breakfast offered in a Nice room. Friendly helpful staff.
Ironically, the last time I booked a room in Halifax with a friend, requiring twin beds, I got the exact same room! Personally, I found the mattress too hard for me, both times. Plus all of the pillows were flat. I know you can't please everybody....but when there's 6 pillows in a room, a variety would have been welcomed as the variety of guests have different needs for sleeping. The room was clean, enough....but the carpet needs to replaced.

From the moment I first laid eyes on this glamorous historical building, I fell in love. The hotel's architecture and grandeur are truly captivating, and I was eager to experience its charm firsthand. Upon arrival, I was greeted with pleasant and attentive service both at the reception and in the breakfast room. The staff's warmth and professionalism added a special touch to my stay, making me feel welcomed and well taken care of.
I must admit I felt a bit sad that my room was located in the parterre. While the room was clean and well-equipped, the furniture and decoration had clearly seen better days. It lacked the elegance and refinement that the rest of the hotel exudes. Despite this minor disappointment, my stay was brief—only for one night—and the hotel's convenient location made it an ideal choice. Overall, my experience was positive, and I appreciate the efforts of the staff in making my stay comfortable.

We liked the location very much - easy to walk to the waterfront (although be prepared for uphill on the return). The room was very nice, quiet and there was a common sitting room close by with microwave and reading chairs, we found this convenient. The breakfast was very good (we like continental) and there was oatmeal porridge on a couple of occasions. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Instructions for using the heat pump in the room. We were pleased to see this method of cooling but instructions would have been helpful.

The location of the hotel is very good, easy walk into town, the lovely gardens and the citadel. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. There is a laundry which costs 6$ but they provide the laundry powder and you can use the dryer too. The breakfast is very good and tea and coffee is available all day. They also offered us a kettle in our room which was very welcome.
Our initial thoughts were that due to the mismatch of furniture in our room particularly it felt more like a care home than hotel. The bed wasn’t very comfortable.

This is a charming building dating from the 19th century so it's different from modern accommodation. We had the front room downstairs, which has a bay window so we were able to watch the passing traffic. Breakfast was pleasant. It was cold when we were there and our heater didn't work so we were provided with a pillar heater that didn't take much space but was very efficient. The staff were always good to talk with.
The room was a little smaller than usual but we expected that and it was not a problem.

Garden South Park was in a great location in Halifax and was close to the things we had planned to do. This was a stop over after flying in on our way to Cap Breton and filled our needs for this trip. The staff was very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was good. The recommendation they made for our dinner was very good and the food there was excellent.
I would have preferred a more complete breakfast, but what was offered was very good. Parking was not included in the price even though they had space for parking behind the house.

For a woman traveling alone, you have a wonderful "secure building" practice that people can not enter any outside door without a keypass.... They have to ring the buzzer and talk to the desk clerk before entering... I loved the "old world charm" of the place in both its outside and inside decor... but it has all the modern necessities....The staff was always very helpful. It was very comfortable and affordable..... and safe. 🫠 🗝 ⭐️⭐️🌟⭐️⭐️ gh
Just a couple of nitpicky things... 1) Watching the leafs game, the video was a bit choppy.... I can't say for sure if it was the video, or whether you needed "better wifi".... 2) I was in room 102... Some time ago, a heat pump was replaced, and the "dead carcass" remains outside the window... It's not much of a view outside 102 to begin with, but I'd rather look at the pretty stones than a pile of trash. 😉🙃☺️
