AMAZING STAY !!!! Could not recommend Isa and Yumikos guesthouse enough ! Everything was perfect. Friendly and super caring hosts with impeccable attention to detail. Great location super close to train station and shops. Met lovely travellers also staying during my time. Absolutely would come back next time in Tokyo !

Nothing!

Isa and Yumiko are great hosts! They were very thoughtful and provided a map full of suggestions of where to eat and experiences such as times for an upcoming festival at the Senso-ji Temple. There was a supplied basket of snacks and tissues that were always refilled, and the inn had a lot of charming details! When the nights got too warm, they were very generous about using the air conditioner in the room so it was always cool inside. I was in a multiple-bed room and there were curtains for privacy. The blankets are thick and soft and the bed is overall very comfortable and clean. If anyone wanted to socialize, the common room provided a place for us to talk.

Warm and personable staff that make you feel like family! Isa-san always went the extra mile - my plane was delayed and I was scheduled to arrive after their check in hours, he kindly waited for me past 11pm. Beyond that the rooms were very clean and cosy, the best! Linens smelled nice and clean, thoughtfully placed furniture such as additional fans, hangers, reading lights etc. There was always more than sufficient amenities, lots of tea and coffee and even snacks! I had a really happy and peaceful time here. I loved the location too! 3 mins walk to Kuramae station making it really accessible, and yet far enough from the Main Street / city buzz so it’s quiet at night. in my months of solo travel, this has been the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Thank you for your generosity Isa-san and family. Don’t hesitate to book!

The location was really nice, with a short walk to Asakusa/Shin-Jo temple, a canal, and only about a 25 min walk to Akihabara. I wasn't in the property much, but Isa-san was very friendly and helpful, and provided a map/pointed out different places to eat near the property.

The rooms got very warm in the evenings, and it would have been good to possibly crack a window. I like the heat so I wasn't too bothered, but I know if I'm warm others are likely too hot.

Lovely guesthouse with a beautiful interior, great amenties (free laundry and snacks) and Isa the attentive host that gave a lot of good tips for the area. Comfortable beds with a full-close curtain and good space to hang clothes and charge your devices. Though a bit far from the central locations and main buzz areas in Tokyo, it was a calm and trendy neighbourhood to retreat to after a long day in the crowded areas. Close to the Sumida river which was nice for an evening walk or a morning run. Also, super easy access to Haneda with Asakusa Line!

On your arrival you can’t spontaneously show up and bring your luggage between 11am and 4pm. I guess you could have agreed it with Isa beforehand but I had been changing accommodations a lot so I forgot and ended up having to look for a place nearby to store my backpack before check in. Luckily the closest Yamato Transport service point where I had my suitcase delivered could also store bags for the day. Towel is not included, which wasn’t a problem as I had packed my own, but would also appreciate to get a clean one in each accommodation by default.

The location was good, literally just next to a subway station. The neighborhood was a more relaxed one which I really liked. I was travelling solo and it was a good place to meet other solo travellers. The guesthouse was cozy and the owner was really nice! I stayed at this guesthouse at the beginning of my trip and decided to stay there again at the end of my trip. :)

If you are a very light sleeper, some occasional sounds from outside might disturb your sleep as the house isn't fully soundproof. For me this was okay though! :)

I have stayed in several hostels in Tokyo and this one was the best! I only stayed one night but I would have loved to stay longer. The host, Isa, is very kind and explains everything very well, and also helps you with recommendations of the neighborhood. The rooms are big, you have space to leave your stuff and hang your clothes, and everything was clean. The neighborhood is very nice, it's not far from the tourist places, but it is quiet and you find many stores, restaurants and very cutes cafes. I'll definitely come back to this hostel! Thanks!

I liked it all:)

This is the perfect guesthouse in Tokyo. You really feel at home here and it's perfect size to meet new people in the common area. The beds were big and very comfortable. It is located directly next to kuramae station and so it's a perfect location. The house was very clean and the owner Isa is very friendly! Highly recommend as your stay in Tokyo. The area of Kuramae is cute and not too busy as compared to the rest of Tokyo (minus the area around Sensoji Temple). The owner will give you a paper with a bunch of different restauranrs and bars nearby. For me it was a perfect spot in Tokyo.

If you are someone who enjoys nightlife you are staying pretty far away in Asakusa and there's not much to offer here. If you are big or tall you will hit your head and arms on a lot of things but thats going to be a thing throughout Japan.

Hikari Guesthouse is a wonderful place to stay in Tokyo. It’s perfect for a solo traveler. The owners have thought of every little detail and have decorated the house really nicely. They are also very friendly and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the cute communal aria and little garden. The property is small but it’s centrally located in Tokyo so that’s to be expected. It’s super close to the train station and wasn’t hard to get to from Narita airport. There’s also lots of cute restaurants and cafes very close by. I particularly appreciated the use of the washing machine.

Nothing, I loved staying in this cute guesthouse.

Tokyo Hikari Guesthouse is one of my two favorite places to stay in Tokyo. Third visit, previous ones were in 2018 and 2023. Isa and Yumiko are welcoming, gentle and reliable. Engage them in conversation; they have traveled to several continents and understand much about the world. The location is excellent, beside a direct (underground) train line to both Narita and Haneda airports. But, importantly, you would never guess this from inside the guesthouse as it's exceptionally quiet and peaceful. The neighborhood, Kuramae, is attractive. It offers several amenities without the crowds, high prices and tactlessness of other parts of Tokyo.

Nothing comes to mind.
