A well presented clean property. The room was very nice and comfortable. Reception staff very attentive, courteous and friendly.

Lack of parking, room lighting was either really bright or under lit, a full size ironing board would be nice. Breakfast service was very slow, took a long time to cook although tasted good. I would avoid the Scholar restaurant nearby, very slow service, some food over cooked and some under cooked. Staff quite snooty and give off the vibe that they don't want to be there. Should probably be a cafe rather than a "Bistro". Over priced.

The hotel is beautiful. The decoration is stunning. You feel like you are in a castle back in those years. Our room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was big and very clean. The location is perfect if you don't mind walking. Maybe 20 or 25 minutes to get the old town of Edinburgh. We love walking, so we didn't care at all. There are restaurants and pubs just a few steps away. Breakfast was good. Not a lot of options, but they offer other meals a la carte if you want. There is a coffee machine available all the time if you want an extra cup of coffee or tea. Hotel staff was very kind, helpful, and professional. We highly recommend this hotel.

Nothing! Everything was perfect.

Very charming heritage building well maintained with beautiful oldie world finishes but newly renovated bathrooms and very comfortable. The dining room and coffee lounge and bar were plush, beautiful and lovely to sit in. The staff were exceptionally kind and special words for Marisol and Shannon who really went the extra mile for us, they are a credit to the hotel. It's the PERFECT place to stay if you are depositing a child at Uni and they are staying in the Pollock Halls res area. Food was good and although the dinner we had was expensive the quality was exceptional.

Standing In a queue to get my own coffee. Coffee should be brought to the table especially paying that price for accom.

The accommodations were very comfortable, and exuded a warm, inviting charm. Perfect location, very well-connected with bus, or even to walk. You will be in less than 30 minutes in the historical centre, with a lot of pretty parts of the city to see on the way. Beautiful surroundings, greeneries and right in front of Artur's seat, one of the most do of Edinburg. What stood out the most, however, was the exceptional hospitality of the staff. They were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Their genuine care and dedication to their guests truly made a difference.

Slightly overpriced.

The hotel is located inside the campus of the University of Edinburgh which makes it peaceful and gives you privacy and security. The staff is really helpful and polite. The building itself is really well-preserved and everything was very clean and neat. We really appreciated that there was a coffee machine in the lounge, available 24/7 for unlimited coffees.

The breakfast could be improved. There were some significant lacks such as butter, vegetables, and praline. Also, the shower water was cold at night when we wanted to take a shower. Not so close to the center, you need approximately 25 minutes to arrive there by feet and is not very convenient when it frequently rains.

The property is part of the University of Edinburgh and is very well maintained. The hotel itself has several lounges and rooms with great character. Everything has been chosen for style and comfort and it’s truly lovely. We forgot our power adapters and not only did they have some for us to borrow, but there’s a store on campus where we could get them too. The room was excellent, toiletries were included, and the water pressure was fabulous. It wasn’t a spa, but we sure felt pampered like it was! Location is right outside the busiest parts of the city, and parking was included. Would absolutely stay here again!

Absolutely nothing.

Stunning property, beautifully designed Friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful staff Wee welcome whiskey! Complimentary coffee in library room Excellent quality breakfast Complimentary gym pass Water stations and sweets throughout the hotel Magazines and books to read Lovely bar area to work in or avail of the ‘Honesty bar’ policy Absolutely loved my bedroom which had great facilities, great tea and coffee and a wonderful bath and bathrobes. Situated right by Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat which were amazing to walk / hike

No barista coffee machine but the coffee from the machine they did have was grand. A more casual cafe would be great. I arrived well in advance of check-in and it would have been nice to grab a coffee and light bite although there is the Scholar Restaurant nearby

Amazingly friendly staff who went out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. Beautiful property, atmosphere was just "wow" in the grounds of Pollocks Estate. Great breakfast options. Small rooms, but it's definitely worth it just to be in this gorgeous historic manor. Easy access to the centre of Edinburgh, there's a bus stop just outside the hotel. Will definitely be back.

Hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday night making it a little awkward if you're not planning to go out in cold Edinburgh wintery nights.

The place is special. The view of Arthur’s Seat and the dining room are gorgeous. We slept very well in our comfortable bed, bathroom/shower were great and the little extra space in the „tower room“ was cute, nothing I’ve ever seen. Warm welcome with a wee dram… The hotel umbrella came in handy for our walk to the city.

Breakfast staff seemed untrained and not very caring, they were friendly but lacked the service you would expect in this kind of house- it downgrades the experience to only good (considering the crazy price you pay for a room). Breakfast was okayish, nothing special, hot food seemed precooked. The carpet on the hallway stairs was dirty, our room was not vacuumed properly- hair and dirt on the carpet is not something I would expect in this hotel. And you might have to do some walking to and from the parking, only a few spots near the house…

What a place to stay. We didn't expect it to be within the University of Edinburgh campus but was an additional treat. The hotel was clean, warm and beautifully atmospheric with the ambience being positively therapeutic. We booked a room for two with three dogs ... ( I know we are crazy) it was a truly wonderful experience. The room was lovely, clean and spacious with plenty of wee treats. Lots of green areas to walk for the dogs and lots of leafy trees to delight the senses. We were treated very well by all who looked after us. Our breakfast team were absolutely delightful and our lunch and evening teams at the nearby Scholar restaurant were exceptional (Matt and team need a HUGE shout out for going on and beyond with all us pesky guests ). The cool and calm Kyle was wonderfully engaging in looking after us guests in the beautiful bar area in the evening. Breakfast was plentiful and the choice was great and the general manager Emma was very present , engaging and warm. Ps... didn't sadly get his name but the gentlemen cleaning in the early morning as I walked the pooches had the most engaging personality and warm smile. Loved every minute. Thank you 😊 from all 5 of us.

Leaving ... and SOME other not so polite and grateful guests to the amazing staff.
