Alexander Guest House was lovely! Close to the bus stop - less than 10 minute bus trip to the main centre. The bed was so comfortable! We slept like logs. What type of mattresses do you use? I want one!
We didn’t meet any staff member at all! While it is very convenient for the hosts to use the locker and key system, they gave us the wrong code for room 2. We guessed/ changed one of the numbers and it eventually worked but there was no one there to help. Only something small to think about. Everything else was amazing!

We were pleased at the location to bus stops and the cleanliness and the real cups and saucers for in room hot beverages. For the price and location, it was just lovely. We got up early and walked the quiet streets behind the guest house. The gardens were so beautiful! We even walked to the base of Arthur’s seat.
There was no breakfast service and we learned that a guest house doesn’t have a ‘front desk’ so while there were phamplets and signs for bus stops, there wasn’t a person to ask questions to ( or to get more tea bags) just FYI for other first time travelers to Scotland. And remember to bring your own washcloth!

My room was comfortable and spacious with a single bed, table and chair. Bed was comfortable but only one pillow. Radiator on wall let me dry hand washed clothes over night (unsure if this is frowned upon lol) The table allowed me to place my suitcase on top (carefully balanced) Short walk to buses that take you straight into town. Picks you off at stop maybe 100m up road. Only £11 taxi from Princes Street when I couldn't navigate when I first arrived.
Bathroom had pink mould around the silicone grout and areas where the grout didn't fully seal the shower box. Silicone grout was in the bathroom sink (accidentally? Like small blobs). Shower pressure was terrible but have come to associate that with water heater showers. Fine for a freshen up but not for washing my hair. I was a bit disgruntled at first as they forgot I was arriving at 7/7.30am as my flight landed at 6.30 and I booked an extra night so I could come straight in but.once they remembered it was fine. Just a mission to get my heavy bags to the top floor

Spacious, clean and quiet room. En suite bathroom. Option for ironing with mini ironing board (though did not use) present. Kettle and tea present.. Straight forward check in and check out. Loved the room design and rooftop view. Loved the wallpaper! Friendly staff though short interaction only on chek in. Bins emptied on daily basis. Thank you for enabling a peaceful and stress free stay. Tourists info and pamphlets in entrance area. Multiple bus options to get to and from town centre (15 - 20 minute bus ride).
Off button on remote control for tv not working...had to switch off at socket. No lift so perhaps not ideal for anyone with mobility difficulties.

The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. It much much quieter than we expected as the hotel is in the city. My daughter left her phone in the room when we checked out at 5:30 am and this led to some panic as the hotel is unattended (we checked in via NEST intercom). The staff answered our early morning call and had a way for us to access the room to get the phone. We still made our 6:20 am train!
Our room was on the second floor. There are 22 steps per floor and there is no elevator. So do not book here if you cannot climb stairs as there are no staff members on site to help you. They have only two parking spots so you have to park on the street. We found a place easily on the street when we arrived at about 9 pm.

A lovely big house and a nice place to stay. The rooms were very clean and fresh. It is around a 20 min walk into the centre but the bus stop is outside the property with numerous buses every 5 mins. Really good value for money, easy check in and out. Did not see any staff while there but they had been in the room every day to empty bins etc…. Great place
Nothing, everything was great

Very clean, comfortable room witb en suite. Parking on site but have stayed here before and on street parking available round the corner if no space at the guest house.
This time I didn't get the key code before check in time but didn't matter too much as left the car and went in to town after leaving a message on booking.com. Suggest checking for the code in advance of arrival to avoid any delays to check in

Guest house was lovely for the price paid, very spacious room with lovely decor and gorgeous bay window. Bathroom facilities were great, though didn't use the shower so cant review that. Close to a bus stop that gets you to the city centre quickly despite being situated in a quieter area outside the main city. Check in and out was quite easy.
Staff were not there when we checked in, so had to contact them via phone to get the key, but managed to get let in relatively easily.

Check-in was easy once we understood there was a number to call. The room was clean despite an iron burn mark on the carpet, and bright despite being below street level. Tea and coffee was provided, toiletries smelt nice. The location was very convenient.
The shower room was a little small and there was nowhere to set down toiletry kits. Parking is only on the street and not technically free 24/24.

We stayed in a family room that was beautiful. It was spacious with three separate beds, a private bath, and a sitting area by large windows. The beds were comfortable. The Victorian style with ornate ceiling and room decor was a nice introduction to Ediburgh. The location was great - short walk to cute food spots and close to the Royal Mile.
The exterior stone was being worked on when we arrived, so we only had a view of scaffolding. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time, but we were so tired from our overnight flight and the interior was so pretty that we didn't mind.
