This property is entirely unique. A stone’s throw from bustling Pantai Tengah, it is amazing how detached you can feel from the rest of the world when nestled in your canopy up in the rainforest. I came here for much needed relaxation after lots of travel, and Ambong delivered! It was so serene to sit on my terrace overlooking the distant water, watching the hornbills and monkeys. Breakfast was delicious and I also enjoyed dinner both nights at the Rimba restaurant. I also enjoyed a massage at the spa, and highly recommend it! The real cream of this experience was the staff who were so very kind and attentive. I will be back!

The atmosphere and the quirkiness. The willingness of the staff to make our stay more personal and look after us. (They remembered what we had to drink the day before). I liked the uniqueness of all the buildings and not being in a large chain hotel. I liked that drinking water was not in plastic containers. The breakfasts especially the vegan option was beautifully presented.

Not as much wildlife as I expected. Road Noise. Children at breakfast in a part of the resort where I didn't think there would be children. (no children on the retreat side of the resort was a feature that appealed). Quite hard to get transport, especially from the retreat. The access is challenging for vehicles, which may be why grab transport is not readily available. Getting to and from the room improved our fitness although staff were always willing to provide car transport around the property if available.

The staff at Ambong are always willing to help and always check that everything is to your liking. The resort is ideal for people wanting a relaxing time, its location is on the edge of the town resulting in a peaceful setting, with easy access to the facilities of the town if required. We were particularly pleased with the food on offer at the Rimba restaurant, well formed local dishes at reasonable cost served by nice staff. The staff when they had time were happy to talk and offer advice on the resort and surrounding area. The car service to your room was welcome, as the resort is set on a hill.

The sun beds could have been more comfortable, as they were a bit thin on padding.

Ambong Rainforest Retreat is the best hotel I have EVER stayed at. I received a very warm welcome upon arrival before being shown around my room. There are a lot of good quality toiletries provided and plenty of tea, coffee and soft drinks. The little extras such as the chocolate cake in the room were a nice touch. There is yoga every morning (except Thursdays) which is free for in house guests. Definitely recommend and the views are beautiful. The breakfast at Pegaga (served 8am-11am) is amazing. You can also eat at their sister restaurant, Rimba. At Pegaga vegan, the breakfast is fresh and there is a varied selection. The smoothie bowls and avocado toast were my favourites. As a pastry chef, I recommend having dinner here if you get a chance, the food is very good. Most mornings we saw the monkeys swinging in the trees next to the restaurant, which I loved. It's a perfect retreat if you like nature but still want to be close enough to enjoy activities/beaches. I was very sad to leave, especially after making friends with all the wonderful staff here. They do an amazing job and it shows that they care!

My room was so lovely and I loved the whole property. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The staff was so willing to help - they promptly answered texts and were always available.

I scheduled a 90 minute massage and a 90 minute facial back-to-back. In other places I have been, this meant 90 minutes of actual treatment time. But I was done in 2.5 hours so I suspect that giving me tea and time to shower was part of the 3 hours. That was quite disappointing. I expected 90 minutes of treatment time, especially at the prices. The massage was also average. I asked for deep pressure and it was medium at best. And I think most of my shortchanged time was during the massage. It did not feel like it was 90 minutes.

Amazing place in the middle of 'jungle' with super friendly staff! We have never felt ourselves as welcome as here! Great facilities with fascinating nature around you. Very good breakfast with lots of choices and good service (especially the older guy at the Rimba restaurant - sorry don't know the name!). Nice little pool area and herb garden (thanks a lot for the personal tour Raja - the gardener). The place also offered transportation and help with car parking.

Our family missed a bit more comfortable sofa system in the living room - it would have been nice to spend some time there together as the bed rooms with more comfortable sofas are located in different floors.

First of all, the staff were very friendly and always accommodating. Thank you for making our stay so special. The included breakfast was easily the best breakfast of our two week trip to Malaysia. The vegan restaurant was the best restaurant we found on Langkawi. There is another restaurant with veggie/non-veggie options which was also good. We loved that the resort was located in the jungle along with all the wildlife and animals. It was beautiful and gave a unique vibe to the place. The hotel certainly felt more boutique when compared to the large hotels on the island which made it a much more personal experience. The swimming pool by the restaurant was great for a refreshing dip to chill. If you fancy, the beach is also just a three minute walk away. For going further afield Grab / e-hailing taxi is extremely convenient. The room itself was a great size and the bed was very comfortable. One touch I loved was that they offer ground coffee in the room rather than just instant. This is a small but much appreciated detail. We also loved the evening “turn-down” service in the room. It made our stay even more comfortable. It was also great that the checkout was at midday so we were not rushed to leave and then were able to stay an around after for lunch.

A lovely location tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah, but close enough to still make it easy to get in. The positioning of the accommodation tucked into the rainforest is peaceful and provides a lovely connection with nature. Studio suite was well appointed and comfortable. In particular, its worth noting the staff are extremely friendly and helpful (but make sure you have WhatsApp on your phone for communication). An upgrade to minimise impact of maintenance work was a considerate and unexpected bonus. Recommend staying here if you want a quiet place in a beautiful rainforest environment.

My husband and I visited Ambong Ambong during our honeymoon in Malaysia. We chose blindly and had no idea what we were getting into, but the accommodation at Ambong completely captivated us. It was only during our stay that we got to know the philosophy of the resort, which completely won us over. It is a peaceful oasis where you feel part of nature and the beautiful Malaysian jungle. The resort offers a space to reboot your mind and realize the beauty of the moment. This is complemented by great staff who are helpful, kind and always helpful. They also prepared a beautiful honeymoon decoration for our room. In addition to amazing massages, we also enjoyed breakfast in a vegan restaurant (although we are not vegetarians, the breakfasts were absolutely fabulous), yoga, soundhealing treatments and a romantic dinner in an attached restaurant with a sunset view. We definitely recommend Ambong to you, we recommend it to our friends and we would love to come back here one day.
