Great location with gorgeous views of Bere island and Denis is a very hospitable and friendly host. There's a lovely, warm lounge/breakfast area where you can help yourself to breakfast/tea/coffee. Spacious rooms with large comfy beds and 1 minute walk from the centre of town. Would highly recommend!

Mattress fabulous but pillows very flat .. Sadly not the fault of the beautiful place we booked but it is on a steep hilly walk to the bars and reasturants, it is not a long walk ( about 6 mins down) but longer if walking up, and if have mobility or breathing probs could be difficult. Sadly the most awkward concern was our room ( number 6) right on car park and cars parked along our window and on a couple of occasions customers were coming or going to their cars and smiled awkwardly when looking in and seeing us so close to carpark, maybe a net curtain or blind needed as we had to keep curtains closed from 5 pm on a summer evening re privacy ..

Denis was an accommodating, caring and friendly host. Accommodation is tastefully decorated, plenty of storage for clothing. Ensuite bathroom was lovely, clean and excellent shower. I felt welcomed as a lone traveller and would recommend this as a great base for anyone looking to stay in or explore the Beara Peninsula. Excellent views over Castletownbere itself and a very peaceful spot behind the main high street, on the hillside, which allowed for a very peaceful and comfortable night's sleep each night.

island House was a home away from home! Coffee, tea and a fruit tray available in the lounge area all day and evening long. The view is beautiful. The family dogs are even welcoming! But what made this place bb outstanding was the kindness and compassion they showed towards a family member who got sick while travelling. They allowed him to stay for several hours after checkout time even though we were only booked in the one night. We had a family function to attend and would have missed it otherwise. They kept an eye on him until we returned. They were such lovely people. I will certainly be returning to Island View on my next trip to Castletownbere. Irish hospitality at its best!!

Absolutely nothing!!

Our host, Dennis, was very welcoming and friendly. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He had great recommendations for restaurants and things to see and visit in the area too. The breakfast was great with fresh fruit and warm brown bread in addition to cereal, ham, cheese and yogurts! The views were beautiful, the bed was comfortable and the location great!

Stayed here for one night the rooms and common areas were so clean, modern and amazing views. The host couldn’t have been more welcoming and nicer. The beds were so comfortable and had everything we needed including bottles of water in the room. The continental breakfast was excellent including homemade brown bread by the host. We will definitely be back! Such a nice stay and only a few minutes walk from the town.

Comfy and clean B&B with a very attentive host. The house was just at the back of town so easy walking distance to the town centre but super quiet and high enough for a good view! My gluten intolerance was catered for as well as our late arrival. Our room was cleaned every day and we felt free to enjoy the space like it was our own.

The B&B is very close to the centre of the town, whilst also offering very nice views (from some of the rooms, in any case). The room was comfortable and clean. The owner was very helpful and friendly. To our surprise, we were offered a continental brakfast at no additional cost, which itself was quite extensive and tasty. All in all, we recommend staying here.

The only thing missing might be a couple of outlets and maybe a kettle. But these are nitpicks. The room was great!

Island View is in my opinion one of the most scenic views in Ireland. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. We met family there and we had a great time. It was off season so breakfast was continental style, but still a delicious spread was provided. The lounge was so comfy and homey with reclining chairs and couches to relax in.

Loved everything about this gem of a place!

I love the place, the town, Denis is a excellent host and show friendship ( hard to find in UK B&b ), hotel location is outstanding, with great views. To me, is like a family. I've been there in this hotel three times.
