Blackfriars is an exceptionally pleasant place to stay. I rarely use hyperbole to describe a hotel, but from my first online contact with Graham the manager, to my interaction with the delightful, professional and friendly staff such as Naimh, Jenny and Abbi (others too) it was a first rate experience. The location is central and convenient, the room was warm clean well presented and more calories in the freebies snack basket than I should have eaten, but hey. Breakfast and lunch was excellent. I overnighted as I did a trip up and down on the Caledonian Sleeper train (that was fun) and they very kindly accommodated my request for staying longer before checkout to fit in with my departure time. All in all I don’t know what else you would look for than this. By the way, Leakey’s second hand book store, with its huge wood burning stove (google it) is just behind, so do visit. The location was great, and perfect for exploring Inverness. The staff were all really friendly, and went out of their way to get our room ready early when we arrived which was much appreciated. Our room was gorgeous, a really nice size with a very comfy bed. Lots of snacks were provided in the room which was a really nice touch. Overall, we had a great stay at Blackfriars!

The only negative was how loud it was when anyone walked around in the room above, which they started doing most mornings at 6am for long periods! So that was a little disruptive, but out of the hotel staff's control.

The breakfast was excellent, our room was clean, comfortable and homey. The staff were all lovely. The evening meals were tasty and I especially loved the Sunday roast. The decor was oldie worksite. I loved the old exposed brick work in the bar/restaurant. The window sills were deep and The Christmas Decorations and the Christmas Tree were tastefully done. The hotel was nice and Central for my husband and I as he had appointments to keep at Raigmore Hospital. The owner was really nice and paid for our soup and sandwiches as we’d been mistakenly charged for our breakfast. All in all we enjoyed our stay in the Blackfriars Hotel. We definitely want to stay there again. 💕

The only thing we didn’t like so much was the sound of the traffic but that can’t be helped being in the centre of Inverness, we got used to it and slept peacefully in our very comfortable bed!

Very convenient to main downtown area of Inverness. Best set up for family. Our room consisted of one room with queen + single and then separate room with 2 singles. This was a welcome change to having to share one room with two teenagers. Room was able to heat well with the space heater. Dinner at property for extra fee was delicious.

No parking at property- had to pay for parking in a lot across street snd down a lane. While dinner was delicious, breakfast was a disappointment. It is obvious the chef only cooked the dinner. The toast was dry and cold and the eggs had a weird burnt taste.

Fabulous location to the train station, bus stops and the central shopping area. Room was a great size and bed super comfortable. The staff were fantastic they accommodated all our requests and very friendly and welcoming. Helped us with ideas about places we were visiting. Loved the food and ate in the pub every night trying the local fare and I loved my bowl of porridge each morning. A wonderful touch having a goodie basket in our room. I’ll be back in Inverness one day and won’t hesitate to stay here again

Our stay at Blackfriars was excellent! While (yes) the lodging is above their (really yummy and friendly) restaurant, the second we walked into the hall for our lodging rooms we were floored by the modern sophistication. We reserved 2 rooms for our family of 4, and my husband’s and my room overlooked the street. The windows did wonders to close off the street noise while we rested, and beds were very clean and comfortable. Next time we come to Inverness we will stay here again!

There was one spot on the mirror that was hot during the evening. Not sure if there was a water heater behind the mirror - but this is an observation and didn’t bother us.

My room was very cute with a lovely patio window view. The bathroom was very pretty too. Coffee station was ready for me with complimentary water bottles and some cookies. It was nice to be staying over the restaurant because I ate dinner below then went upstairs to bed, exhausted from travel day. But in the morning, they made me a lovely latte and the breakfast spread was great too.

When I arrived, the room felt warm. I didn’t realize it had no air conditioning. Coming in from a long travel day, I was worried it wouldn’t cool down. I asked one of the ladies Katrina working and she found me a fan. It did cool off and I slept great. Thank you

Staff were friendly and helpful, the room itself was so clean and comfy and had everything we needed. The bathroom was amazing and the water for the bath roasting which isn’t always the case for hotels! Lovely decor and plenty space. Lovely hotel with some top tier snacks!

Only downside was the noise. I know it’s above and opposite pubs so expected some noise but it was pretty loud for a couple hours in the evening. thankfully it didn’t last too late but I hoped that they would have noise cancelling measures in place.

We were very impressed with the size and standard of the room at Blackfriars. Everything was of very high quality and we loved our stay there. The location is extremely convenient for public transport and Inverness centre, overall it was great value, very comfortable and we’d love to stay again.

The only small suggestions we’d make are to have a little fridge in the room so you can have fresh milk for the drinks instead of the little plastic uht pots, and it got very hot overnight, though it’s hard to please everyone with heat levels.

Room was nice, beds were comfy with a decent size shower room. Plenty of treats/snacks provided in room. Pleasantly surprised that our family room had a separate bedroom so we could relax a bit more in the evening once the wee one was in bed. Breakfast was tasty and the overall atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. We came by train so ideal location when we didn't have a car. Would recommend and come again.

Only a few wee things that are hardly worth mentioning and didn't impact our stay. Menu/room info a bit tatty so could do with fresh copies.
