Winmar is a convenient stay, with all that you'd want in the room. A comfortable bed, a clean shower room and even a fridge. I did not use the TV. It was a very warm room and in perfect condition. The door access code to the room and to the house was handy too. I used their kitchen to make my sandwiches for the following day of travel and it was so immaculately clean, I enjoyed cleaning up after I had made my sandwiches thus returning the kitchen to its impeccable state. I'll stay again because the condition of this place is dependable and its location handy.

The central heating was on very high for my taste. I could barely sleep with the heat as I tossed and turned to get comfortable and shed my quilt in the heat. It surprises me how warm some people must like their environment if that level of heating, toasty to say the least, is what people find comfortable. To my taste, it was a bit excessive. I did not open the window, not to waste the energy. I am not sure if there was thermostatic controls within the room, I did not find any,

The entry system was well explained in messages before I arrived and it worked without hitch. After similar poor experience at other hotels with codes being issued that did not work, I was dreading this, but it worked impeccably with no issues. I was able to get in and out with no issues and I did to go shopping at a Tesco store down the road. The room had all I needed including a fridge, a telly, a shower and a bed. There was no noise or disturbance, it was really quiet and comfortable. I slept really well! The room was just close to the river and only a short walk to the transport connections. I will stay here again it was so practical for my passing through overnight stays.

Scotland is colder than other parts of the UK, but I was a bit surprised that the heating was on in mid summer. I had to keep my bedroom window open because otherwise it would have just been too hot for me. That upsets me to waste the energy, but I had no choice.

The accommodation is very good. There is a nice clean kitchen where you can eat take aways etc and a sitting room with a larger TV. The 24 hour helpline is also appreciated as I had to use it twice for access and requesting a missing tv remote. Mark came and replaced the remote and I was not made to feel like a nuisance.

The only fault is the distance to walk on foot with luggage which I struggled with although the directions were good. I would recommend a taxi from the town centre if you have luggage. Otherwise it is not a problem and all the guest houses seem to be on this side of the River Ness.

The location is perfect as it's only a short walk to the city centre with quick access to shops, supermarkets and nightlife. The property is clean and well presented with a large fridge freezer, kettle, tea and coffee in the room. The large communal dining kitchen has everything you need for either making your own meal or heating something up - again, clean and tidy. Clear self-check-in /out instructions

The bed in my room (room 10) was a little on the soft side, and the frame was a bit unsteady, which meant it seemed to make an awful lot of noise when I rolled over. Other than that it was more than adequate for a cheap place to stay.

If you just want a place to sleep or as a base to put your stuff then it ticks all the boxes. The bed was comfortable, location is very close to the centre, it's clean and the room was quite spacious. The coded entry means your not beholden to any particular arrival times. Also the shower was good with decent pressure.

Quite petty details really. The duvet set looked a bit like something you might have had in the 90s. Decaffeinated coffee or hot chocolate would have been nice for the hospitality tray. A smaller fridge freezer would have given less of a feel of bedsit to the room. But as I said, if you just want somewhere to stay then this really is good.

Decent value if you appreciate or need the access to common spaces (kitchen and lounge). The budget single room was small and no-frills, basically decorated and lacking attention to detail (e.g. broken curtain rail) Fridge in room was useful, albeit noisy. Hosts kindly let me check-in a little early by phone, but no staff on site felt a little unsettling with other guests staying. My room was ground floor/ adjacent to car park so I felt a little less secure than I’d have liked. My own personal preference is for a staffed facility, however, so I would not return but may suit groups or couples traveling who want to cook and lounge in common spaces . About ten/fifteen minutes walk from public transport stations, and decent restaurants & music venues within east reach.

Lack of staff, CCTV cameras (to mitigate for lack of staff, presumably) very basic decor compared to other similarly priced rooms in the city.

Venue surpassed our expectations. Very clean and tidy - TV and fridge in the room were added bonuses that we did not expect! Would happily stay at Winmar again in the future and would recommend to friends.

Overall a really lovely stay - only minor gripes are maybe a heads up about provided toiletries (i.e. shower gel provided but no shampoo/conditioner). Car park was also a wee bit small and tricky to manoeuvre when full. Very minor complaints - stay was thoroughly enjoyable and would come back again!

The location was fine, not central but also not too far away to be inconvenient, also reasonably quiet. Places to eat and get shopping within walking distance.. The property had a full well equipped kitchen and the rooms also had a fridge freezer which came in handy for freezing cool blocks.

Rooms were starting too look a little bit tired with stains on some of the walls. I was in room 10 and my shower dripped, also the shower doors were loose at the bottom. We did manage to get our cars parked but we did arrive at about 3:30 not sure if we had gone out wether or not we would have got parked again. Only 4 parking places on site 5 at best.

I really loved the room and that it had a fridge. Everything was very clean and well thought out. Excellent communication as well. The shower was very nice with good pressure and hot water. I also appreciated the key codes instead of physical keys. The location is great.

As the person in charge of the property and I discussed, parking was very limited. I understand now there's not a great option on booking to really get this point across as I've stayed at other properties who have also indicated limited parking that wasn't quite as limited as this property. I do understand and in the long run everything else made up for this. Parking for 24 hours was a 15 minute walk and only cost five pounds, so not too shabby.

Having a kitchen. Also the entry system.

Carpet is nice: helps reduce nose and nice to walk on. But, both my wife and myself, developed a head cold while at Winmar. We think it was probably from the carpet. If you want to reduce your costs consider reducing the water pressure on the first floor. And reduce the temperature to which you heat the hot water. I believe your saving could be 25 to 30% of your hot water costs.
