When we arrived, we were able to check in early, which was great. However we were taken to rooms in the annexe, at the back of the building. There were quite a few stairs and a long corridor. My room was fine, was warm and ready. However, the room booked for my sister was not. She was then told she was allocated the wrong room and then taken to a higher floor. Unfortunately, the heating in her room wasn't working, so she was moved to the main building, in a lower room category. I explained that we only came for one night and were hoping to have rooms near each other, so they kindly moved me also. The classic rooms in the main building were actually much nicer (although smaller) than in the annexe. The food in the library/bar was delicious. Every staff member was outstanding, from check-in to check-out, particularly the male staff.

I wish we'd known that the rooms allocated initially were in a different building. That said, if we return, we'd definitely request rooms in the main building.

Leaf restaurant. The service was appalling. We were shown to a table and after 15 minutes no one had come over to us so I had to ask if we could have menus. After a further 10 minutes I again had to ask if we could order. The food was lovely and well presented however the plates were not cleared away. About 20 minutes after we had finished our food and drinks we got up and asked if we could pay our bill.....dirty plates still on the table. This was not an isolated case as other guests had to approach staff to ask for menus and order replacement drinks etc.

Great location, friendly staff. Good size clean room, with a comfortable bed and a powerful shower.

Breakfast is a little chaotic, with a long wait for drinks. Food was not replenished in a timely fashion, resulting in queues or eating half a cooked breakfast and having to return for other items. When we were eventually seated, we were asked for our drinks and egg order. The eggs arrived 10 minutes later, but there were no drinks. When asing a member of staff 5 minutes later, we were told that she was only responsible for tea, and would ask someone. 10 minutes later, after everyone seated after us had received their drinks, we asked again. 5 minutes after this, the coffee arrived, which could only be described as scorching hot aeroplane coffee. We didn't go for breakfast on the second morning of our stay.

The location was excellent and allowed us to enjoy our time without needing a car. Likewise, your staff were extremely friendly, approachable and did their jobs skilfully.

The breakfast wasn’t quite as good as expected. Also we had a room that was underneath another room where the floorboards were inadequate and we could hear the total footfall of those in the room above to such an extent that it was difficult to sleep (this went on into the early hours). We appreciate it is a very old building but this was difficult to put up with.

Nice room facing the Guildhall and with partial view of Windsor castle. Very clean, nice size and the bed was comfortable, although a little high. Having complementary drinks in the fridge was a nice bonus. Breakfast buffet was amazing and there was the option of requesting cooked eggs of your choice. Location was perfect with lots of shops, and restaurants nearby. All staff were very polite and professional and Chloe on reception was very friendly and helpful. Thank you to the Castle Hotel for making our stay a memorable one. Highly recommend.

The only downside to this room was that it had a connecting door which had a large gap underneath and we could see next doors light, plus it was not soundproof and unfortunately we could hear everything.

The hotel was convientely located with easy access to everything we wanted to see. The decor was absolutely lovely and stuff were very friendly. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast which we couldn’t fault, except fewer staff so quite hard to get their attention when wanting to order.

Although parking is incredibly pricey in the area, you would think as hotel guests this would be far better value for money than what it was. £30 for 24 hours would really tally up if staying for longer and had we noticed this before booking, we probably would have avoided booking this hotel as the rate for the room was already quite steep for one night.

The room was amazing we stayed at the back of the hotel and was nice and quiet. We loved the fact the milk in the mini bar was actual real milk and the drinks were complementary in the mini bar. I requested some additional milk and sparkling water from reception and it was brought to our room within minutes but not just one of each two at least of each. Very nice touch.

For the price it would have been nice to have included breakfast, but not a deal breaker.

Location

Decor, the leaves and plastic tropical decor is horrendously dusty, dirty and gets in the way and staff are constantly brushing past them as they work. They also take up so much space. We booked 2 rooms at the same price and room 214 was so tiny and substandard in comparison to room 304 - WHY? Why did we pay the same price for much less - a tiny room, no robes/slippers insufficiently stocked mini fridge in comparison, rooms should be priced according to the standard of each room. Your online photos do not match the reality. Also, your staff don’t seem happy or welcoming, educate your staff to offer advice to tourists when simple questions are asked like “what else can we see in Windsor?” They didn’t even know that the Castle is closed to tourists on a Tuesday and Wednesday!!!

In the heart of Windsor - the location was exceptional! Lovely breakfast in the morning with a good selection to eat and drink. Nice sized room and very friendly staff. Lovely little bar area - the decor of both inside the lobby/restaurant area and outside garden area was beautiful with a good selection of cocktails to choose from.

Our room didn't have a view at all which was a little disappointing. The window only opened a very small amount onto the boiler outside.

Extremely comfortable room - bed was amazing! The supplied amenities are very high quality essential oil based and smell divine! The breakfast was exceptional with many choices from the buffet as well as items cooked on request. We had Eggs Benedict and it was very tasty with eggs cooked perfectly. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. Loved sitting at the tables outside and watching the changing of the guard march by. The location is perfect for exploring Windsor with the Castle across the road and a short walk from The Long Walk. Very close to all the lovely shops and great local pubs. The overall presentation of the hotel is stunningly pretty and authentic. 20 minute taxi to Heathrow and great quiet and peaceful option for departure from Heathrow rather than central London.
