Very relaxing atmosphere, the room is small, dimly lit, tastefully decorated and cozy as part of their concept (though people who don’t like small places shouldn’t come here) The staff are very friendly, I got a welcome snack as soon as I walked in through the front door and was given a optional talk about their ryokan. I was then escorted to my room. Everyone was very friendly throughout the whole thing. If you booked a stay here I also recommend going to their other restaurant Cyashitsu Nigou at least once during your stay for dinner. The food provided by this place is very delicious. The onsen is a private one so you’d have to book it, but it is small and cute, very beautiful!

Nestled away behind Sensoji Temple, this place was absolutely Incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. We were a group of four split between two rooms. Myself in one and the girls in another. They thoroughly enjoyed the Outdoor Bath and the Breakfast. I myself had the private outdoor bath in my quarters. We had one vegetarian, one not-a-fan-of-fish and one not-a-fan-of-sauce… and they catered to our every need and want. The Tokyo Skytree was visible from both my room and my own private outdoor bath as well as the Main Outdoor Bath.

We came between winter and spring and it was quite windy… the walk to and from the train station is quite cold without adequate clothing… but once you are inside the ryokan, everything is Bliss. I could find no fault at all. The stay was perfect.

The atmosphere of the ryokan style room was so calm, serene and relaxing. Perfect for our honeymoon! The breakfast served every morning was EXCELLENT! A great taste of Japanese cuisine. The staff were super welcoming, attentive and friendly from the moment we approached to check in and until the time we checked out. They were always interested in our daily outings and even surprised us with a wedding treat! We absolutely loved the open air bath too. I expected it to be too cold to bathe outdoors, but it actually felt great! The area the ryokan is in is very quiet, and you can see the Tokyo Skytree from the bath. The Senso-Ji temple is just a couple of blocks away which is a beautiful area full of shops.

So hard to think of anything we disliked! Please keep up the good work! And always keep improving!

This is hands down THE MOST AMAZING and the best accommodation I have ever stayed at in Japan. It's hard to find the words to make justice to our experience. The staff is the most beautiful ever, it truly felt like being part of a family and we were so well looked after. They've put so much care, thought and love on everything. The rooms are amazing and the rooftop open air hot bath is the cherry on top. When I look back at my 2 weeks trip to Japan, Cyashitsu will be one of my core memories. I never felt sad saying bye to an accommodation before, but this was not the case with Cyashitsu. Thank you to the whole team for giving us the best experience ever!

Beautiful property, reception, and rooms. Staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming, very accommodating of our travel plans (late arrival, early departure). They had a shoe dryer that truly saved the day and trip after we got completely soaked in the rain on our way to their restaurant space, Cyashitsu Nigou. Finally, they even packed a to-go breakfast for us in lieu of their normal breakfast since we had to leave before they started serving breakfast (8a onwards). Oh, and Sensoji is a stone’s throw away if you plan to visit.

Nearest subway station is about 10 minutes away walking. Rooms are on the smaller size when futons are all laid out, enjoyably cozy for 2 people as long as you’re expecting cozy.

Perfect in every way. I had come from a couple of large 5-star hotels (I was in Tokyo for work and was hosted at other accommodation) before extending my stay and choosing the ryokan. I was a bit worried as there was only an 11m2 room available (busy weekend, Chinese New Year!) but I needn't have been. The space was great. There is everything you need. Breakfast was amazing! The sky bath was lovely and very much appreciated. The room was spotless, the WiFi excellent and the staff are the kindest ever. The location is also great. I would choose Asakusa over any other area in Tokyo. You are so close to Senso-Ji, a short walk from the subway and train station and it's a lively area with lots of great little restaurants to choose from on your doorstep and plenty of shopping. This is a real experience, due to how fantastic the staff are and their whole philosophy of hospitality. If you are doubtful about choosing a more 'Western' style hotel or the ryokan, choose this and you will be so glad that you did. I will not forget this stay in a hurry. Better than a 5 star welcome and such a personal experience! Thank you for everything. I cannot wait to come back.

I honestly cannot think of a single thing.

We spent two weeks in Japan and our one night here would be the one I remember most fondly! The team is kind, attentive, with a genuine welcoming manner. We really felt seen and appreciated as guests. The facilities are calm and relaxing, you can almost forget you're right in the center of Tokyo! We haven't stayed at a ryokan before and I didn't really know what to expect from the room, but it definitely exceeded our expectations. Finally, the breakfast was rich and tasty, prepared to perfection! I definitely recommend gifting yourself at least a night here.

I'd sometimes write "nothing in particular" in this section, but I've never meant it as much as I do here :) Keep in mind, though, this is a traditional type of place. If you're traveling with lots of luggage or anything like that, be prepared to feel a bit cramped in a room with two check-in suitcases open! A Westerner may perceive it as a "small room", but that's the whole point of staying in a place like this! We loved it.

From the moment I arrived, until departure, the staff at Cyashitsu Ryokan made me feel so welcome and were genuinely trying to ensure a perfect stay. Koji-san - always a smile, and so attentive; I am so sorry, I forget the young lady who checked me in (starts with an "A"), but she was wonderful as well; took time to get to know me as she checked me in; so friendly. The room, took my breath away - this was the last night of my stay and it was the perfect ending. After all the hustle and bustle, I was able to breathe and just enjoy the peacefulness, while in Tokyo! The onsen, was such a treat - you can see Tokyo Skytree off in the distance while relaxing in your private onsen. (Reserve for 45 minutes - included with stay). I think my breakfast might have been my best meal! It seemed like so much food, but I didn't feel full at all - it was well balanced, delicious, and beautiful. I would return in a heartbeat!

I couldn't think of anything.

The only reasons that I didn't rate this place higher was because the price was painful, and it was a little complicated for us to find by walking. I kept making changes to the plan, and they graciously accommodated us. Upon arrival, they greeting us outside. It was evening when we arrived and they took our belongings to our room, then provided us with a couple light deserts and alcohol. Most of the staff, except for the cook spoke English. The room was clean and quite quiet. They provided a peaceful atmosphere, and answered any questions that we had. We had booked the private bath, which was wonderful after a long day of travel. It helped greatly with the stiffness. The futon were extremely comfortable. The temperature in the room was perfect. We were able to purchase a couple bottles of sake to take to our room. I was impressed by the level of authenticity with the Ryokan. From the traditional way of hosting, the traditional room, and the type of food they provided. Our breakfast was a traditional breakfast, with a bucket of rice, fresh fruit, coffee, side dishes and soup; all brought to our room. They were also willing to hold our belongings as we wandered Asakusa, even though we only booked the room for one night.

As stated above, the price was somewhat painful. Although, I am grateful that the level of service made the price somewhat worth it. The level of kindness exceeded my expectations.

This is an incredible Ryokan in a beautiful area of Tokyo. We were greeted with the warmest and friendliest hospitality on arrival. The Ryokan strives to treat their guests like family and the service really lives up to it. We could not have met a nicer team of people who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, show us the local sights, and make recommendations of where to eat. They also helped us book restaurants and organised luggage transport for us. The area - Asakusa- is buzzing with lively bars and historic temples but also offers a peaceful sanctuary from the neon lights of Shinjuku. Highly recommend staying in this part of town. It also has excellent transport links to the rest of the city. The room itself is spotlessly clean, cosy and offers a range of amenities including beautiful facial products and creams as well as a hair dryer. The onsen at the top of the Ryokan offers a tranquil end to a day on your feet in Tokyo.

Nothing - this place is perfect.
