The location is great - just a couple of blocks from Union Square. The decor is lovely and is a mix of classic and funky! Staff were great and very helpful.
Not sure if this is common in the States but there was a $30 a day amenitiy charge for bottled water and internet. I believe this should all be included in the price of the room - it feels unnecessary and a bit cheeky to add this on top.

The design is absolutely amazing! It’s immediately eye catching as soon as you enter the building. The staff were very friendly, a good change from a previous hotel I stayed at. I really like the perks like a complimentary drink and free water refill bottle (it makes a difference when your plan is to explore the city). I think the best part is the comfortable room. It was the perfect size for me as a solo traveller. The effort with the small treats like the robes and dog on the bed added a lot of fun to the layout.
That rooms were only attended to every second day. I would have liked a hairdryer, toothbrush and toothpaste without having to ask. More milk in the fridge too.

Although the room is small, it is beautifully appointed and with nice amenities. I slept extremely well- the mattress and bedding were absolutely wonderful. I found the whole pineapple theme really fun. The lobby is impressive and I appreciated the provision of water/coffee in the lobby. There were a few nice restaurants nearby and good bus links. Staff were helpful.
The smell of dogs - if you don't like dogs or are afraid of them, don't stay here! It was definitely a dog friendly hotel. Luckily, I am not scared of dogs. Some areas in the hallways definitely smelled like dogs. Initially I had to change room as the whole room smelled like dog and I couldn't stand it. At first I thought it was a dead rat, but then I recognised the smell! Thankfully, the second room was absolutely fine. There were quite a few homeless people in the area, so whilst they were no bother really, it made you feel slightly unsafe at times.

Hi all The hotel is good, clean and 5 - 7 min walk from union square , Apple Store , Macy and luxury boutiques. It’s a boutique hotel with limited amenities, but very clean and decent hotel . There are a lot more hotels on the same street but I find this is best over all . The starting room category is small fits 2 adults , you should book minimum king size room which is 21 sqmtr . There is bar with attached restaurant which serves limited breakfast options in front of the reception. The bar guy who is there in the morning for your coffee or sandwich and is the best person I have met in whole SFO , makes a very good coffee better than Starbucks . The taxi from airport charges approx -50-60 usd depends on the time but my suggestion take a direct train from airport to powel Station and from there it’s 10-12 min walk which will cost you approx 3-5 usd per person from airport. Suggestion: take higher floor and room towards front street . Enjoy your stay
rooms are small

Hotel was nice, the people are friendly. Everything was clean.
The area that the hotel is in is very rough. The hotel locks its doors at 7.00pm. You do not want to hang around outside. There is dog muck on the street and lots of homeless people and pot heads wandering about. There is a good taco place opposite though for a breakfast burrito.

My first time staying in Staypineapple for a conference nearby it. Rooms were clean, the inside was wonderful. Some of the staff (especially the British guy :)) were genuinely nice (not just the front desk type of nice for show hah). That made it nice to stay here. I liked the nice touches like the free bottles and Free drink. AC kept the room cool. The pineapple theme is cute. A walk away from some of the T/bus stops.
The TV channels were somewhat limited but not a biggie if you are not one to hang out in your room. The neighborhood is a bit iffy but I've heard that's normal for SF. The only thing that kinda bothered me was the smell on the floor/rooms, not sure if there was smt that made it smell like that or it was just the room air was stale.

The hotel was really nice and clean, and the staff were very courteous and helpful.
The hotel itself was great and clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's just being from out of state and not familiar with the surrounding area was sort of a shock as we were driving in to locate the hotel. The area is overrun with homeless and mentally challenged people which of course is not the hotels fault in any way. It's just unfortunate that such a beautiful hotel is in the midst of that area. Union Square used to be a nice area when I came out years ago but now it's in need of much assistance from the State and Government in order for hotels and restaurants and retailers in the area to stay in business. I really liked the hotel just not the neighborhood.

From the decor throughout the hotel, to the incredibly comfortable beds and the helpful staff, it all made for a great stay.
Wasn't aware the guest bar was closed ( since Covid) so no Welcome guest drink, as described. The bar has been replaced by a locked chill cabinet which you get 2 complimentary soft drinks vouchers to use during your stay. As there is no restaurant anyway, it makes the amenities at the hotel sparse, but they supply endless refreshing water and the pineapple cookies are yummy.

We had a great stay at Staypineapple. Rooms were a little small but every bit was well thought out and there was plenty of storage. Refillable water bottle and water available 24/7 was really useful as were dressing gowns and charging/ plug in station. Location was great - we could walk everywhere.
Duvet arrangement was a little odd. We sort of got used to the 2 single duvets on the bed but would have preferred a double.

I appreciated the reusable water bottle and the water bar. Staypineapple puts a lot of conservation, comfort and hygeine practices in place. I enjoyed using the plush robes, bath products, mini fridge and coffee maker & complimentary products. Being able to close the blackout curtains enhanced sleep.
The trash & recycling container could be bigger. The cafe bar was only open one day during a weeks stay.
