A beautiful lodge to stay in. The star is the onsen - there are 2 onsen rooms in a separate building outside with a maple tree on the walk out. There is a clever light system that allows you to know when the onsens are in use by other guests - plenty of time to be able to use. The onsen rooms are beautifully built and were such a delight to use - there was a private outside space for one of them as well. As the onsens are private, it is fine for people with tattoos to use. There is a large communal area where you have breakfast and can also relax and prepare other meals. Hot and cold water available as well as microwaves and toaster for preparing meals. There is a lovely children's play area as well. Breakfast is served in the morning with a choice of different pastries and drinks that you order the night before. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Good location - 10 minutes by bus from Tobu Nikko station, 5 minutes by bus to the shrines, temples and Shinyko bridge, 5 minute walk to Daiyu river and about 30-40 minutes by bus to Lake Chuzenji. The beds were comfortable and there was good amount of space for storage in the rooms. Table, chairs and TV in each room.
The bathroom for the rooms are quite small, however we barely used ours as we used the onsen and therefore showered in the onsen rooms.

The young man Kono-san who manages the place was quite friendly and assisted with information, storing my bags and lending me a brolly on a very wet Nikko day. Room was a good size with the bare minimum, a small table against the wall with a lamp, TV, charging point and fridge under it. There was another table with a chair next to the bed which was handy if using a laptop or having a meal. Located just outside the side entrance are 2 private baths, wonderful on a cold wet day that were open from 4 pm (45 minute limit per use). Had a nice assortment of bakery items for breakfast, pre-ordered before 11pm the night before, which were warm and fresh.
Location was a bit far from the station (20 minute bus ride). The shower nozzle was very small, however the water pressure was good. The bath towel was thread bare which also had to be used if going to the private baths. There was no kettle in the room so if you wanted a coffee or tea you would have to leave the room, manually lock it (old style) and go downstairs to the lounge. Although the bakery items provided for breakfast were delicious there were no other options such as cereals, yoghurts, fruit or eggs.

Charming stay. Location was ideal for me. It's away from the center but right off the #13 bus stop by 2 min walk. It's close to a wonderful walk by the river that leads to more of the center of town as well. The room was spacious. I enjoyed the breakfast every morning. The lounge area was perfect - lots of seat options, and it was very comfortable. I was able to heat up meals or have my takeout there. Appreciate the free amenities and the stone onsen. Happy to be in a yukata every evening. The host was super helpful when looking for treks and checking which mountains were closed for the season.
I was shocked the toilet was not like all the other smart totos I am accustomed to in Japan. It was a classic standard Western with non-heated seat. It would have been nice since it was very cold during my 3 night stay. I also wish there were a couple more outlets in the room.

Breakfast was up to our expectaction and sufficient. Owner (and his family) were friendly and helped with any request. Nikko (historical site) and Imperial Villa were at walking distance. The private onsens were clean and nice, and since the number of guest rooms is limited, there was at least one unoccupied most of the time. We took the Japanese-style room for two nights, and really enjoyed it. Nikko aims at day-time tourists, so you hardly find a restaurant open after 6 pm. But the accomodation has a microwave, so you can buy food at the local supermarket and heat it up in the B&B. There is also a drink vending machine on the second floor.

Property offered a wonderful breakfast of a variety of breads and drinks (maximum 6 per person), it was delicious! Very close to bus stop 13 which gets you to the JR station quickly. It’s a 15 minute walk to Lawson in case you need snacks. Hospitality was awesome! We really appreciated the kindness staff had to offer. The private Onsen was awesome!! TATTOOS ARE FINE!
Everything was great. It was a little far from the station but otherwise is so worth it!

Amazing place just outside Nikko city, easy to get by car (free parking in front). Supermarket close to the property and direct access to nice walking path towards the city and temples (we did full round trip hike of around 10km in under 3 hours). Place self has nice common area and fine hot water baths for private use. Rooms are simple but clean, same holds for the bed. Our 2y old loved the place, very much kid oriented and super helpful / nice staff.
No big things, keep in mind breakfast is fine with oven-baked rolls (you can choose night before) but simple. It’s very clearly stated and actually pretty good!

This accomodation has a warm and homely feel .The rooms were comfortable but having the shared lounge dining area added to the space you could occupy and a chance to catch up with other guests. The two private onsen bathrooms were a luxurious after a day on your feet visiting temples or walking in Nikko National Park. The breakfast of delightful tasty pastries was excellent. The only down side was that it is hard to find restaurants to eat at night, close by and the buses from Nikko town (2kms) stop at 7pm. Most cafes and small eateries seem to close by 3 or 4pm when we were there in April. We highly recommend this lovely place.
Lack of eateries for night time dining within walking distance. But there us a well stocked Lawons Food Store about 700m away

The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful, providing a perfect retreat. A shopping mart is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk away, making it easy to pick up essentials. The villa offers a private onsen, which was a fantastic addition to the stay, and they have an efficient system to know when the onsen is occupied. The free breakfast was a great start to the day, and the cozy shared area with complimentary coffee and tea was a nice touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the free toiletries provided were a nice bonus.
The villa is quite a distance from the train station. While you can take a bus from the train station, I recommend taking a taxi if you have luggage, as the buses are often packed and don't come very frequently.

The staff was incredibly friendly as where the other guests. Had a very homely commutative feel. Breakfast was unbelievably amazing and huge. The best thing perhaps for me, being a tattoo individual, is being really is not one but two types of onsen. Completely made my trip ass, I've been Japan two times now and this was my first successful Onsen experience.
Location is a little inconvenient but that's not their fault. It's a very nice walk, as is most places in japan. And Uber ride is not that expensive either.

The hotel had a very cozy and homely feeling. I liked the lounge area with the small fireplace. Onsen was very spacious and clean. There were daily necessities (shampoo, body wash, facial wash & skin care) and a hair dryer. Room for a solo traveler was big and comfy. The receptionist was very friendly and I liked the information booklet that showed dining options around the area. I also liked how we could choose from a variety of pastries for breakfast, coffee and tea was also provided. Overall, I really liked my stay and would definitely come again when I visit Nikko!
Location is a little far out from the Nikko town area and the nearest supermarket is a bit of a walk away. If you're driving however, it wouldn't be an issue.
