Property had very friendly staff, and multiple pools which was enjoyable. Room was clean.

Some things seemed to be in disrepair and the shut off the water to our room an hour before check out. Hallways definitely needed vacuuming.

The hotel is actually very beautiful on the inside and full of history. It's an old building and it's a very large property so if you can overlook some minor flaws (mostly cosmetic) you will enjoy yourself.

The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that the breakfast that was promoted on the website was not what was served. There were plenty of options but no hot breakfast (which I prefer). I did find out that the kitchen area has been closed for repairs due to a leak and it will be back open soon so hopefully at our next visit the breakfast will be as expected.

Loved the staff Ms. Amanda and Ms. Jessica were absolutely amazing. I traveled for work with my special needs daughter and her emotional support dog and they were by theirselves (she’s grown 29) while I was working. That staff made sure they were taken care of and everything. They are absolutely amazing I was so comfortable being out of state leaving my girls there they were definitely safe. In the evening she went down to watch movies in the lobby with other guest and had a great time with them.

That I couldn’t be there longer without having to work to enjoy some of the town.

Location was very good. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and gracious. The property was very charming, especially the outside. The property was very clean and quiet. It was nice that the location had exterior and interior swimming pools.

The property is wonderful, but needs updating. It has a great foundation and design. Would like to see the restaurant and bar opened. Since the property is so large, it would be nice to see a spa and salon on location and possibly a children's arcade. The exterior needs some cleaning and the lawns need to be manicured and updated.

Breakfast was very nice. Sue, the breakfast hostess was excellent at her job and very attentive to her guests. The location for breakfast was perfect and the view lovely from the windows.

The hotel is older and likely needs some updates. Our bath needed a new toilet seat and it is likely time for a new mattress on the bed. The bethroom was clean but the vacuuming was not quite up to par. This is our third visit to Fort Macgruder in the last 10 years or so. We noticed the age of the hotel more on this visit in the room. There were several places that the carpet was duct taped in the halls because of tears..

The front desk lady, very polite, helpful, extremely respectful, well mannered, very patient, and no matter what time of the day was she was always smiling and making you laugh!! Honestly this was such an amazing experience and the property was beautiful!

Only issue was the TV was not working, seemed like the tube was going out, but it was so very relaxing and peaceful I didn't care about the TV. I did let them know and they offered to try fixing it but it was late at night I told them to just wait until I checked out.

Fort Magruder's location is great as it's about 10 mins to Busch Gardens, if that, and it's got a decent amount of restaurants, plus, a Harris Teeter tucked into a neighborhood about a mile away. We've stayed here a handful of times and found the rooms consistently clean and the staff friendly and helpful. All drains tend to have draining issues, but it's a small complaint. The hotel is very affordable and has a complimentary breakfast that is decent, offering eggs and sausage in addition to all the morning carbs. There's an indoor AND outdoor pool, but I don't think we've ever used either bc our stays have been short. As it's also a conference center, the lobby is cavernous and a little spooky at night, but my son and I dig that.

My biggest complaint was the coffee at breakfast Friday (3/29) morning. We were in a hurry, so I didn't have a chance to track anyone down, but what came out of the coffee maker was ... confusing. Very watered down, but again, I don't know what the situation was and didn't have time to ask so hopefully, it was just a fluke!

Upon arrival greeted and welcomed and given excellent customer service Our friend Gary made sure we had everything we needed and went beyond to show us comfort and is really appreciated for all the help he had given us. We also watched a movie during g our stay and was welcomed at breakfast as well. Thank you

Pool could've been a little more clean and had an issue with the housekeeping staff in the beginning because our room had a number of cleanliness issues. Gary made sure the beds were proper and the bathroom was clean. The coffee maker and ice bucket were not clean and he made sure everything was taken care of in a timely manner. After that everything went smoothly and we had a wonderful stay.

The hotel is very convenient to Busch Gardens and any of the Williamsburg attractions. It's an older hotel, but still well maintained and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the showers very hot.

The staff seemed unhappy and not as punctual as most hotels. Upon check-in, I discovered I had no towels. When I asked for some, they explained their dryer was slow (it was around 2 pm so completely understandable). I asked them to be put into the room and explained I would be back later that night. At 9pm, still no towels, and when I asked for some at the front desk, I heard the same dryer message, and they were unsure if any was ready. Thankfully, a couple was finished.
