Location was perfect for us as we were meeting with friends in the jewellery quarter in the evening, the room was actually larger than we thought it would be, in terms of the small hallway to the bed, room was clean and tidy and overall a nice stay

It’s a shame that you have to pay additional for hot drink facilities downstairs, it would be a plus if this was complimentary especially for the price paid, there is no hotel breakfast and the thermostat in the room is a bit funny to use, it doesn’t display numbers instead only an up and down button for temperature with 5 levels, I found myself having to turn it up or down at various points in the night

Everything is operated by your phone, lifts, opening doors, turning on lights etc, which takes a little getting used to but good once you get it. But there are staff on hand to help. It's clean, perfectly located for accessing a number of places. I went to an event at Jam House and a Hockey social which were all within a short walk. I also walked into city centre. I had the standard room, which was perfect for one person, it would have been cosy but doable for 2 people. Full length mirror, toiletries and towels. large bed and room to store a small bag. Good option on TV. Complimentary water in room. Nice lobby, with chargeable drinks machine. Luggage storage available at no charge.

Not a massive dislike just an fyi. My room didn't have a window, but that was the room I selected as it was cheaper and I wasn't going to be in it long. But it can feel a bit dark if you are a fan of natural light. However the design gives the illusion of a window, with the blind down, which was a nice touch. Bathroom is a wet room (in the room I was in) ladies, something to consider if sharing as the mirrors all steam up and that is where the better lighting.

Location is great for shopping in Birmingham and also for the jewellery quarter. Our room had a window, I’m not sure if they all do, and you can control the temperature of the room from an app on your phone.

Shower was an open shower in the bathroom - basically a hose in front of the toilet. When someone has a shower it basically makes the room unusable as it’s soaking wet. You have to wear your shoes in there until it dries out. It was ok for one night. Not sure I’d want to put up with this for much longer. Was hoping to watch Netflix but the casting to our phone didn’t work which is how you would watch Netflix

I like the most was the fact that everything was has gone smoothly from my arrival to checking and getting into my room all using my phone and the App link provided to me in the morning. I did not need to make queue or speak to anybody, it was all done on tip of my finger using my phone. That was spot on. The room was amazing very clean and welcoming. Nicely done bed and the level of cleanliness. I got hayfever allergy and was apprehending what will it be like but, I was absolutely mermerised. Top notch hotel and beyond my expectation.

We had a really enjoyable one-night stay in this super modern hotel. The check-in process and digital controls for all the doors (and not having a physical room key) is quite quirky, but really simple to use - also probably more secure than having a physical key. The room lights and air conditioning is also controlled by the app, and the room and bed were really comfortable. We booked one of the small rooms with no window, which was perfect for one night and a deep sleep in complete darkness!

It would have been nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room, however we did book the most basic room - so can't really expect this without paying extra. There was a coffee machine in reception, which made up for this.

I see so many people moaning about size of the rooms but this hotel tells you straight up if you book a bog standard room it’ll be like a box.. If you’re staying more than a day working like I did (3 nights) book an apartment I visit Birmingham once or twice a month working and usually stay at staycity but this was last minute booking (they were full) Apartment was decent and quiet

The blinds in the apartment are slightly too small (width wise) they let in light. The app system worked great most of the time but one evening other internet was down so I had to be given a key card - if the system isn’t reliable maybe all customers should get a key to - the app in the apartment had too few options EG - ceiling lights would turn on all ceiling lights in apartment sometimes I only wanted lights on in bedroom or living space. The coffee machine also didn’t work in apartment 166

room was amazing, better than anything I was expecting. I was raving about it to all my friends saying how great it was for the size. It was super clean, super comfy and cosy and I really had a wonderful stay. Whenever I travel for work I will 100% be using this hotel.

there isn't free parking. There was a car park behind the hotel but I was advised by the hotel staff that my car would not be secure here and to park on the road. I did have to pay £3.25 every 2 hours between the hours of 8am-6pm which was fine for a 1 night stay, but if you were staying longer it wouldn't be ideal.

The hotel's access through smartphones is seamless and easy to use, the room was cosy, clean and gorgeous to be inside of. The bathroom was well kept and stocked with soap and toilet paper in case it ran out, the bed was well made and clean and also fairly comfy. The local offers on places around the local area is such an amazing bonus that the Bloc Hotel provides. Honestly I love staying here with my partner.

My only negative comments are that the bed sheets were crinkled and that the pillows are a bit too big to comfortably get your head on, but honestly these are very harsh nit picks, don't take this away from how good the hotel really is!

Very very easy check in and an app for room control. Check in at the front door, get the app after this and then press the entrance "hay pressto" the front door opens. This is a great way as well if you are not going to be there bang on 3pm check in as you can set the air con on for you to arrive. We didn't see what the upgraded rooms, but we had the standard room. The bed was 5ft 5" wide, more than plenty of room to erm........ sound proofing came is very handy as well. Bathroom facilities are very clean and the showers are fantastic. Romantic room lighting as well 🥵.

The shower/bathroom experience wasn't the best: - Shower stopping & starting mid shower - nowhere inside the bathroom for hand towel - hangars for towels outside the shower room which means wetting the carpet if not using a towel on the floor ouside the shower - the close proximity of the shower to the toilet meant being strategic when using the toilet without using a towel to dry the toilet. This may have been a room/room type issue, but left me a confused as to how the shower experience had been thought through.
