From the moment I booked, the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. They facilitated an earlier check in even before my arrival. The location is fantastic, a minute's walk from bus and tram lines, nice restaurants in the vicinity, and v close to the fabulous shopping area in Munich. My room was wonderful, perfect use of space and storage. The bed was comfortable too. The breakfast options were varied and all very tasty. And as a solo traveller, everything felt very safe. I would very much recommend!

It's hard to say anything as I really did love this hotel. Perhaps one v small thing was that the beautiful wooden floorboards in the hall leading to the bedrooms on my floor anyway meant you could easily hear people in the hall from your room. The hotel was never noisy and I sleep v well, so it wasn't an issue. Perhaps just to consider if you're a very light sleeper.

Initially I was worried about the location as the hotel has an active building site on 3 sides. However, my room was nice , no view and small facilities, but i didn't mind, as it was comfortable and quiet at night. The staff were exceptionally nice. I was a solo traveller in a big difficult city so this really made a difference.

It was unavoidably loud at breakfast due to the construction work and traffic. A kettle would have been nice.

We booked a Deluxe Double Room at the Alpen Hotel Munchen. This is a small, boutique-style hotel (about 50 rooms) and recently renovated. The room was modern, well equipped and reasonably sized. The bedding was very comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style. The food was very good. Selection and quantity was a bit under-par. The location is excellent. The Hauptbahnhof, Karlsplatz and Marienplatz are all within walking distance or one subway stop away from the hotel.

While this hotel is rated a Four Star property, I’m finding it hard to believe it is rated at this level. While the room itself is what is to be expected from a Four Star property, the remainder of the hotel gives more of a Three Star impression wit the hallways being very stark and giving the feeling of walking down the corridor of a hospital or schoolhouse. With that said, this hotel is a bargain for what you get. We spent less than $250 per night here (with breakfast for two included) for this accommodation. We spent nearly 1.5 (or more) that amount in other European cities for nearly the same level of accommodation. The bottom line is that even if this property were rated at Three Stars it would be an excellent value.

Great location on a quiet street near to main train station. Room was quiet with no outside noise. Large room had a mini hallway that seperated the bathroom from the bedroom and the mini hall had two armchairs with a table. Room had aircon, safe, big wardrobe, desk, big TV, double charging sockets both sides of the bed, fridge, hairdryer. Selection of hot and cold choices for breakfast incluidng scrambled egg, boiled eggs, sausages and bacon. Good selection of breads with croissants and cake. Bircher muesli, yoghurts, excellent selection of fruits (fruit salad, large slices of fruit and large bowl of fruit). Also salad items and ham and cheese, jams, cereals, juices and freshly squeezed orange juice. Hot drinks on demand from breakfast staff. There is an option to take breakfast in the inner courtyard of the hotel.

Bed was two twins pushed togther with totally seperate bedding. We had booked a double. Toilet flush was a bit weak.

The staff is excellent, rooms are big for Europe, clean, and well equipped. It's near the train station, but not too close.

The Wifi in my room (218) was strong by the door, but unusable deeper in the room. They provided a wired Ethernet connection, which worked well for my laptop, but I had to sit by the door to use Wifi on my phone. The hot/cold control in the shower is easy to bump, and if you do, the hot water is hot enough to burn. Achtung!

We upgraded to a Deluxe room which had been refit, so was very pleasant! We could walk to Karlsplatz station and the city centre quite easily. Reception and breakfast areas are well appointed! Staff were all very friendly. We had free soft drinks in our mini bar - a very nice touch!

Room air conditioning didn't seem to work well - so the room was very warm. Our friends stayed in a standard room, which was quite dated. The location was good to get to the centre of town, but not the nicest immediate area with a busy shisha bar and corner store.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was much bigger than we expected, and even had comfortable chairs as well as a desk. The bathroom was big and the shower was pretty good. Location is very near the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and other forms of transport like trams.

Our room was very warm so we opened the windows to sleep, and street noise was very loud, including someone who shouted for over an hour. We were located directly above the main entrance so we also had cigarette smoke drift in the windows. The curtains were not light-blocking, which may be a problem for sleepers who are disturbed by light. This is not the hotel's fault nor responsibility, but there was road construction during our December 2023 visit and for navigating between the train station and the hotel, we couldn't see any signage around the train station - visitors may need to allow a little extra time to get between the Hauptbahnhof and the hotel.

Good location, walking distance to the sights of Munich, plenty of restaurants and bars nearby for evening meals, accommodation was simple but comfortable, the breakfasts were great and the garden and indoor settings were very pleasant. And lovely staff!

No in-room coffee or tea facility so you need to go downstairs (and pay seperately) for early morning or late afternoon tea or coffee. And no open bar (even though there's one there) if you feel like a glass of wine.

Hotel was just renovated, We did not know that and found the rooms very modern, clean, new, and with very good taste of decoration. Breakfast was great, and included in my price.

Hotel was perfect but surroundings a bit busy and lots of construction spots close by. Also, diversions in trains caused us to have to book taxis at all times, but that is of course not part of the hotel reservation. Staff was very helpful with this unfortunate situation of train stations closed.

The location was terrific as it was not far from the main stations, Munchen Hbf and Karlsplatz. It is within walking distance from the city centre (Marienplatz). The single room was simple but clean and modern, it had everything one would need. Breakfast buffet was really good! You have to inform the hotel if you are arriving beyond a certain time as the reception closes. I did not inform the hotel as I was meant to arrive before the reception closes, however I was late for check-in due to a massive flight delay. I was so worried however when I made my way to the door, there was an emergency number I could call. My room was prepared for me and I made my payment the next day when the reception was open. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Free bottles of water was available throughout my stay.

I did not like the alley I had to walk into late at night, it was quiet and the next street seemed a little rough. However it should be fine if you were with friends or remained alert. Overall, Munich is a super safe city. I did not feel threatened or scared during my stay in Munich.
