I was a little hesitant booking here with some of the views I read; however, I was very pleased with my experience at the Hostal Viky. It lived up to its description. It was clean, quiet, well kept, easy to get to, and it was nice to have a new location to explore in Madrid. I stayed in a room with a single bed. It was tiny, but all that I needed for a one-night stay. I took a bus there that dropped me off with a 1-minute walk from Hostal Viky. It is situated within a couple of minutes walking to restaurants, bars, and markets. The bonus was the free shuttle. It was very comfortable and modern. I read reviews complaining about the staff, but I was very happy with the reception staff. Check-in was a little slower than other properties I've been to, but Ramon was very good to answer questions. I'm giving Hostal Viky a high score because it is as described. It is what's expected, but in my mind exceeded expectations. If you're looking for accommodation close to the airport with a shuttle service, I recommend Hostal Viky.
I have nothing negative to say about Hostal Viky, but a couple of comments that some travellers might like to know. First of all, there is no elevator. Be sure to be able to handle your luggage up relatively narrow stairs. I can speak only of my experience in a single room. The shower is modern, but small. I'm an average sized person and could just turn in the shower.

First time in a hostel type environment. Place was clean, and neat. Although NO FRILLS, the bed was comfortable enough. Good shower /plenty of hot water. Warm and cozy. We've paid more and gotten less! Walking distance to town with everything we needed. No funky smells & quiet.
We could have used an elevator. We had to keep our bags locked downstairs and walk up. It was akin to having to pack for the night and carry it up two flights of stairs. If we were backpacking that would not have been an issue ten years ago We are older and walking up a few flights of stairs was an issue it would not have been ten years ago.

Hostal Viky is a suitable option for a simple stay near the airport. Beds are comfortable, accommodating guests up to 6ft/185cm. A transfer service, daily housekeeping, and AC are included. The area offers a pharmacy, restaurants, a small 24hr. laundromat with a hot food vending machine, and a minimarket. No elevator, but reception offers suitcase storage. Barajas metro station (Line 8) is within walking distance, 500m away. The Barajas Park and the Jubilados Plaza are good sites to relax. Look for the stork nest at the top of a tree in the park.

The place is really good for a stay between flights, as it is very close to the airport - and even better, pick-up from the airport was included. That was a great help late at night. Close to the airport, but there was no flight noise whatsoever. I have slept very well, though the bed was just a little bit shorter for my height - but not really a problem. The thing I liked most is Barajas is not simply "the area around the airport", but a place with its own character and soul - while I walked through to the Metro station to get into town, I could experience the quiet but very characteristic vibe of it.
There weren't any problems, really. Maybe could have liked to get a breakfast, but that was not an issue at all. The place is mainly for connecting air passengers, and does really well in providing opportunity for a good sleep.

The staff that drive us from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport was really helpful, hardworking and respectful

Walking distance to metro, stores and places to eat. Excellent with airport shuttle. Staff is very good. Stayed there few times. Arrive on metro from train station in Madrid. Leave via free airport shuttle. Great for first late night arrivals to Madrid/spain onwards. Fly in. Get free shuttle pick up. Rest. We walked to metro in the morning. Also within walking distance is laundromat.
Walls in room are very thin. So can hear talking in adjacent rooms.otherwise, a good deal. But was quite at night. Since it is mainly a transient one night stay hotel there may be noise from people coming and going 24/7. But can get good nights rest.

This is highly practical as a stop-over between planes on different days. The pick-up service is reliable and efficient. The town is actually rather fun, despite being next to an airport, and an attractive square with cafés and restaurants is only 200 metres away from the hotel. It certainly beats staying in some form of soul-less airport chain. The facilities are suitable for their purpose, though not spacious.
Nothing, though it wouldn’t be suitable for people who are physically incapable of walking up a flight of stairs.

I had a one night stop over and it fulfilled its purpose. I arrived late in the night, called the free hotel shuttle, they picked me up. The room was small but comfy. The bathroom was nice.
There was no lift. Fine if you have a small suitcase or are happy carrying luggage up narrow stairs. Other travellers had left their large suitcases with reception to avoid the stairs. There was no towel provided, possibly a mistake. They wrote my return shuttle time down so left without me. But as soon as they came back they did an extra trip for me (and another pair who had the same issue).

The Hostal Viki is an interesting option for people that need a low-budget overnight stay near the Madrid Airport. The hostal is about 10-15 min away from Terminal 4. We arrived very late due to a delayed flight and the (free) pick-up service worked perfectly. The rooms are clean, but very simple (as shown by the photos). The hostal does not offer breakfast, but one can find a few places for a snack within walking distance (no more than 5 min). The locals seem to like a "churreria" that opens at 6am. Very good cost-benefit ratio.

The location -10 mins from the airport- and the shuttle to the airport are the most convenient ever. The staff is really helpful and there are many places to have a proper lunch/dinner just 5 mins away.
The spring mattress was a bit uncomfortable, and the room walls a bit too thin -we could hear other guests at times. As a place to stay for one or two nights it’s very good, but I wouldn’t recommend it to spend your holidays unless you are a heavy sleeper (which I’m not!)
