My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Lighthouse Inn in Gardur, Iceland, and it was an exceptional experience. This charming hotel, resembling a log cabin, is not just visually stunning but also incredibly cosy. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They were accommodating with our check-in and check-out times due to flight delays, which they did without any extra charge - a gesture we greatly appreciated. Despite the icy weather outside, our room was always warm and inviting. The shower deserves a special mention for its excellent water pressure and consistent heat - just what you need after a day out in the cold. The food at the inn was delightful, with a variety of tasty options to choose from. Every member of the staff, be it in the kitchen, bar, or at the reception, was friendly and eager to help. Their hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable. An added bonus is the operational lighthouse right across the road, on the coast. It's a beautiful sight, especially at night. We were also lucky enough to witness the northern lights directly above the hotel, which was an unforgettable experience. Overall, I highly recommend the Lighthouse Inn for anyone visiting Iceland. Its warm atmosphere, excellent facilities, and the superb staff make it an ideal place to stay. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

The hotel is located approximately 30 minutes away from the Keflavik airport. It is located right in Gardur, The hotel offers a beautiful view of the lighthouse and the sea. The rooms are spacious and well-furnished. The bathroom, with its shower, is adequately sized. The hotel provides excellent Wi-Fi, and parking spaces are plentiful. The staff is simply outstanding - friendly, helpful, and always in good spirits. The hotel is very clean, with rooms being cleaned daily. The hotel's restaurant is excellent. You can enjoy a peaceful dinner or simply have a beer there. The restaurant staff is attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast is also served in the restaurant and is delicious. Additionally, the hotel offers great suggestions for day trips. We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights and are completely satisfied. We will definitely come back.

The breakfast could be more varied. There were options of ham, cheese, and salami. A bit more variety would be beneficial. They consistently served scrambled eggs only. It would also be worth considering offering guests other egg options, such as fried or sunny-side-up eggs.

The room was really comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly! We booked it, as I'm sure many do, as a transit hotel before catching a flight the next morning. A takeaway breakfast is available is weary travelers.

- the peaceful and cosy atmosphere of this little wooden hotel in the middle of nowehere - the kindness of the staff, who always did its best to meet my requirements - the restaurant : oh my god! Never ate so well in Iceland! - the room was quite big and comfortable - the view I really wanted to thank everyone for making me feel like home, I will definetely miss that feeling even after only two nights there, and Ill be back !:)

I really loved EVERYTHING but if I had to say something, there is probably room for improvment for the breakfast (fresh juices, more choices of cheese/breads/fruits, salmon was also missing). But i still loved it, thank you!

Lighthouse Inn is a fantastic spot in Gardur only 15mins drive from the airport. We decided not to hire a car and so a taxi cost us about 6000krone from the airport and the next day we bussed into Reykjavik using the public buses. We dined at the hotel restaurant for dinner and were so well looked after by Roberto. The next morning we were treated to a fantastic breakfast! We were hoping to spot the northern lights while out of the city but weren’t lucky this stay but would definitely return again as the Lighthouse Inn feels like such a treat! The lady on reception when we arrived was an absolute delight as well! You won’t be disappointed by a stay here. The facilities are top notch and a walk around the lighthouses is a must, it’s a peaceful and gorgeous place to be.

Stayed here to be close to the airport for our early morning departing flight. Great location at the end of the peninsula and a straight shot to KEF. The hotel restaurant was closed, but the restaurant nearby was fantastic (Rostjni’s). Seeing the lighthouse outside of our hotel room window was a treat. Staff was friendly, responsive and accommodating. They packed us a breakfast bag to grab on our way out the door, to the airport. Room was very clean, with a cabin type feel. Cute and very reasonably priced…Much (MUCH) better than some of the over-priced-eye-raising places we stayed during our travels around Iceland .

The location at the tip of the peninsula where the airport is located is fabulous for watching the Northern lights. With a rental car, the airport is only a few minutes away yet it feels very remote. The beach and lighthouse are minutes away by foot. The front desk offers to notify you when the Northern lights come out. The property itself boasts lots of wood and upscale furnishings.

Nothing I strongly disliked. The breakfast was OK - neither bad nor extraordinary.

The hotel's location is magnificent! The staff was very helpful and warm. There is minimal light pollution in the area around the hotel, increasing the chances of viewing the Northern Lights. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and gave off a Finnish log cabin vibes. There is ample parking space. Breakfast was also good, with decent vegetarian/vegan options. The room did get very warm at night, and we lowered the thermostat/opened the windows for some relief.

We noticed a mouldy odour in the room, and the staff offered to change the room for us. There was no shampoo provided with the toiletries.

We booked this hotel because it was close to the airport as we had an early flight. It was a lot cheaper than all the other hotels we booked during our 2 week trip, so our expectations were a bit tempered. But: the hotel was great! It looks a bit uninviting from the outside, but the rooms are a good size and the bathroom is well equipped (and there is no flooding the bathroom when taking a shower - a novelty in Iceland!). We had lovely views from our room: the lighthouse. You can walk to the lighthouse/beach at Gardur in just a few minutes, so perfect for an evening stroll. The restaurant is excellent: decent food, prepared a la minute by a very friendly chef. Perfect to end our vacation.

Inside looked brand new and was very clean. It smelled clean and was very pretty. Good views and close enough to walk to the beach or the lighthouse. Huge huge room with lots of space for all of us. Big bathroom with a nice shower. We were leaving too early to have the complimentary breakfast, so instead they made us complimentary sandwiches, juice, and fruit to go which was so kind(and it was very tasty!). We were able to pick it up right before leaving that morning. Staff was awesome. Felt very safe and comfortable. Super well taken care of.

Outside looked rather old and shabby, but the inside was gorgeous.
